Timothy McNamara, MD, MPH & TM, President and Managing Partner. Dr. McNamara Vice President of MetaContent, Inc. a professional services/consulting organization focused on health information technology and publishing. In that capacity, he directed MetaContent's research, product development, and health information technology consulting practice. He also was instrumental in MetaContent's acquisition of APACHE Medical Systems, Inc. (a publicly-traded health information technology company focused on critical care risk prediction) and the subsequent financially-successful sale of the business assets of MetaContent/APACHE to Cerner Corporation in 2001. From 1993 to 2000, he led the product and content development initiatives of Multum Information Services, Inc., now the application service provider for web-based drug information used by many of the most prominent healthcare portals, hospital information systems, pharmacy information systems, and managed care organizations in the country. His innovations in the area of computerized decision support and personalization of drug-related information have won numerous awards including two Small Business Innovator Research Grants from the National Institutes of Health and two patents for innovations related to patient-specific drug dosing, pharmacokinetics, and electronic prescribing. The products developed by Dr. McNamara have been targeted to the specific needs of both consumers and healthcare professionals.

David Friend has been a successful technology entrepreneur for over 25 years. He previously co-founded five companies: Sonexis, FaxNet, Pilot Software, Computer Pictures Corporation and ARP Instruments. He has been featured in USA Today, Tech Capital, The Boston Globe, Mass HiTech, Fortune, Forbes and Tom Peter's best-selling management book, The Pursuit of Wow! David has been a lecturer at MIT's Sloan School of Management and is an active supporter of music and the arts in Boston. He is a trustee (emeritus) of the New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, and the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. David holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Yale University and attended the Princeton University Graduate School of Engineering where he was a David Sarnoff Fellow. He is an avid marathoner, distance cyclist, windsurfer, and hiker.

Harry Jacobson, M.D. became a Director of HealthGate in October 2003. Dr. Jacobson is Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs and Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In 1985, Dr. Jacobson joined the Vanderbilt faculty as Professor of Medicine and Director of the Division of Nephrology. From 1978 to 1985, Dr. Jacobson was on the faculty of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. From 1976 to 1978, he served as Chief of the Renal Section of the U.S. Army Surgical Research Center at Brooke Army Medical Center. Dr. Jacobson is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Society of Nephrology, the International Society of Nephrology, the American Society of Clinical Investigation, and the Association of American Physicians. He is a founder of Renal Care Group and is a member of its Board of Directors. Dr. Jacobson is a member of the Board of Directors of Kinetic Concepts, Inc., a global medical technology company and serves as Chairman of the Board of Cardiovascular Services of America, Inc.

William G. Nelson, Ph.D has served as a member of our Board of Directors since October 2000. Since 1990, Dr. Nelson has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HarrisData Corp., a computer software company. Since 1999, Dr. Nelson has also been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Repository Technologies Inc., a computer software company. Dr. Nelson has been a director of GEAC Computer Corporation, Limited since 1988, additionally from June 1996 through October 2000, Dr. Nelson served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of GEAC, and from September 1996 until April 1999, he also served as its Chief Executive Officer and President. Since 1986, Dr. Nelson has also served as a director of Manugistics Group, Inc., a provider of intelligent supply chain optimization solutions for enterprises and evolving eBusiness trading networks. Since 2002, Dr. Nelson has served as a director of Catalyst International, a supplier of warehouse management software. Dr. Nelson is a General Partner with Orchid Partners, a venture campital firm. From December 1991 to December 1994, Dr. Nelson was President and Chief Executive Officer of Pilot Software, Inc. Dr. Nelson also serves as a trustee of Swarthmore College.
