Edward P. Gray, J.D. Mr. Gray has been our senior vice president, intellectual property, and chief patent counsel since August 2001 and our secretary since March 2004. Mr. Gray was retired from 1999 to 2001. From 1992 to 1999, Mr. Gray held several positions in the intellectual property department of Eli Lilly & Company, a pharmaceutical products company, including most recently assistant general patent counsel and special patent counsel. Mr. Gray also served from 1989 to 1992 as general counsel for Cardiac Pacemakers, Inc., a medical device company and former subsidiary of Eli Lilly. Mr. Gray received his J.D. from the University of Toledo and a B.S. in pharmacy from Butler University. Dr. Morrison has served as a director since January 2004. Dr. Morrison is an adjunct professor of business management and marketing at the Cameron School of Business, University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Dr. Morrison taught international management and marketing from 1995 to 2001 and will teach international business starting in August 2007. Dr. Lamotte has served as a director since our inception. Dr. Lamotte founded or co-founded 15 pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies, 9 of which are public. He has been a private entrepreneur since 1997. He is also a Venture partner with HBM BioVentures, Ltd. (Zurich, Switzerland), a biotechnology investment fund, following the merger in March 2003 of New Medical Technologies, which he had founded. He founded in 1988 , with Harvard Medical School, Medical Science Partners, an early stage venture capital fund. Prior to 1988 Dr. Lamotte was General Manager of Pasteur Merieux Inc. and had marketing and business development positions with Sandoz. Dr. Lamotte received his Sc.D. in chemical engineering and chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.

Dr. Gillings has served as a director since August 1997. Dr. Gillings is the chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Quintiles Transnational Corp. Dr. Gillings founded Quintiles in 1982. Gerry S. Oxford, Ph.D. Dr. Oxford is professor of pharmacology and toxicology and executive director of the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute, an endowed unit of the Indiana University School of Medicine.
