Ric Gale assumed the position of Idaho Power Vice President of Regulatory Affairs in March 2001. Gale has been with Idaho Power since 1983. Gale is responsible for development of jurisdictional revenue requirements and customer class cost-of-service studies, preparation of rate design analyses and administration of tariffs and customer contracts. His duties include administration of the Power Cost Adjustment tariff, regulatory policy development, guidance on restructuring activities and resource planning for the company's Integrated Resource Plan. Gale holds a bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing and a master of Business Administration degree from Boise State University. In addition, he has completed the Edison Electric Institute's Advanced Rate Course and University of Idaho's Public Utility Executive Course

Warren Kline is a 31-year Idaho Power veteran who began his career in the customer service department. He became a member of the Delivery Business Unit's senior leadership team in 1989 when he was named division accounting manager.

Harry Cougher joined the Bunker Hill Company in Kellogg and rapidly rose through a succession of positions to become manager of mining in 1977 and then vice president in 1981. With the closure of the Bunker Hill operation in 1983, he joined Pioneer Nuclear, Inc., a major uranium producer, as vice president of operations in Amarillo, Texas. In 1984, he was able to return to Idaho with Sunshine Mining Company, as manager of the nations largest silver mine. Since 1987, he has served as vice president and general manager of the Kellogg Division. As manager, he has responsibility for the integrated mining, ore concentrating and refining facilities. Currently, he serves as senior vice president and chief operating officer of Sunshine Mining and Refining Company. A 1966 graduate in mining engineering, Harry continues to be involved with the university. He has been a member of the COMER college advisory board for several years and has also helped sponsor mining engineering research projects with the college and the company. He has been an active member of the Idaho Mining Association and has been a trustee of the Northwest Mining Association. He was recognized as a member of the Ten Most Distinguished Alumni of the College of Mines during the 1989 University of Idaho's Commencement. He was also recognized by the State of Idaho with a Certificate of Commendation for service on the rescue team at the Sunshine Mine Fire in May 1972.

Albert W. Franzmann, of Soldotna, Alaska, is a 1971 graduate from the College of Natural Resources with a Doctor of Philosophy in forest science. In the late '60s and early '70s, Franzmann conducted research as at UI in the areas of environmental physiology and ecology of bighorn sheep in the Rocky Mountains. After his research stint on the Palouse, he became a wildlife research biologist for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, director of the Kenai Moose Research Center and a professor of wildlife management at the University of Alaska. He is the founding member of the North American Moose Foundation. Franzmann is a member of numerous professional and support organizations along with business and community activities. In 2001, he received the Lifetime Conservationist Award from the Kenai Peninsula Chapter of the Safari Club International. He also has a residence in Green Valley, Ariz.

Ed Galindo, a 1979 UI graduate, was the recipient of the Indian Teacher of the Year Award by the Indian School Board Association in 1991 and, most recently, in 2000. For last year's competition, he was chosen from a pool of more than 500 nationally recognized Indian tribes.

Grover D. Turnbow received his bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho in 1916, then went on to earn his master's degree at Iowa State in 1917. He was honored with a Doctor of Science degree from the UI in 1950. Turnbow was an internationally renowned industrialist and agriculturist. He was an instructor at Washington State University from 1917 to 1918. He then became a dairy professor at the University of California from 1920 to 1928. Two years later, Turnbow became the vice president and director of Creameries of America, then moved on to become the director and general manager of Golden State Co. and International Dairy Engineering Co. In 1953, he became president and director of Foremost Dairies, Inc. and was named chairman of the executive committee. Turnbow owned three large ranches in California, co-authored a book on the ice cream industry, made contributions to scientific publications, and is credited with the inventions of several dairy industry processes.

Harold Heady, an internationally-known range scientist and consultant, received his bachelor's degree in range management from the University of Idaho in 1938. Heady is emeritus professor of the University of California; charter member and past president of the Society for Range Management and author of "Rangeland Management," a major text used internationally for range management education. A native of Buhl, Heady traveled to New York State College of Forestry, and received a master's degree in 1940. He earned his doctorate in 1948 from the University of Nebraska. During his undergraduate years at UI, Heady was a member of the Associated Foresters, an inductee into Xi Sigma Pi, and an Idaho Forester staff member. In 1938, he won the UI College of Forestry Senior Award. Heady has authored and co-authored more than 150 journal articles and is listed in National Leaders of American Conservation. He is the recipient of two Fulbright Scholarships and the SRM Certificate of Merit. In 1986, Heady received the college's Honor Alumnus Award.

Keith D. Watenpaugh is a leading chemical research scientist with Pharmacia & Upjohn Company. After attaining the rank of associate professor in the University of Washington Medical School, Watenpaugh was recruited by The Upjohn Company (now P&U) to lead a pioneering effort in structure-based drug design. Watenpaugh is recognized as one of the premier researchers in the fields of protein crystallography and structural biology. His current title, distinguished scientist, is attained by only a very few of the company's top scientists and is equivalent to a vice-president position. He has served as president of the American Crystallography Association and became a United States delegate to the international Congress of Crystallography held in Bejing, China, in 1993. He has received numerous awards, including the Achievement in Science and Medicine Award (1995) by The Upjohn Company, and the Fred Kagan Lead Discovery Award (1993), also a company award, which was for his work on HIV protease drugs. He also is founder, chair and member of the Industrial Macromolecular Crystallography Association's Board of Supervisors, which is a consortium of twelve major chemical and pharmaceutical companies. An analytical chemist, Paul Cunningham joined Argonne National Laboratory in 1968. In 1982 he joined Los Alamos National Laboratory. He served in a variety of major leadership roles at Los Alamos until 1998. He served on a variety of assignments including a member of the delegation to the Joint U.S. Russia Steering Committee for Disposition of Plutonium. In March 1999, New Mexico Governor Gary E. Johnson appointed Cunningham to the position of Governor's Science and Technology Advisor.

Robert Furgason graduated from the University of Idaho in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering, and later in 1958 with a Master of Science degree. He went on to earn his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Northwestern University. Furgason has a long history at UI, starting as an instructor in 1957, then chairman of the Department of Chemical Engineering (1965) and dean of the College of Engineering (1974). He served as vice president of Academic Affairs and Research from 1978 to 1984. He is now the president of Corpus Christi State University, part of the Texas A&M University system. Furgason belongs to many professional and educational organizations, including the American Chemical Society, Sigma Xi, Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi. His recognitions include Who's Who in America; American Men of Science; a Fulbright Lectureship in Greece; Idaho's Young Engineer of the Year (1967); UI's Outstanding Teacher Award (1966) and a service award from the African Peoples Union, a black student group at the University of Nebraska.

Robert L. Prestel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1959 and a Master of Mathematics in 1960 from the University of Idaho. He did advanced study at the federal Executive Institute; Harvard seminar on National and International Security and the Brookings Institute at the Federal Executive Conference, covering issues in science and technology. Prestel, a retired deputy director of the National Security Agency, began his career in 1960 and has held many positions within the agency. As deputy director, he oversaw work in the area of production of foreign signals intelligence and protection of official United States government communication and information systems. Prestel was a member of the Johns Hopkins University Engineering Advisory Council and of the Joint Advisory Committee of MIT Lincoln Laboratories. He has been honored with the Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Service, the President's Distinguished Executive Award, the Department of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Award and the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Award.

Robert Robel, professor of environmental biology at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., is one of the nation's - if not the world's - leading wildlife scientists. Since joining the faculty in 1961, he has served in many posts, including project manager for Energy Programs of the United States Congress Office of Technology Assessment; a member of the steering committee of the Second National Congress on Optimum Population and Environment; science adviser to two Kansas governors and a member of the Energy Conservation Advisory Council of the national governor's conference. He also has been a Distinguished Visiting Lecturer at several universities throughout the world, including University of Oslo, Aarhus University in Denmark; Bombay University of Bombay, India and The Game Conservancy in Fordingbridge, England.

Susan is the Community Relations Leader for Idaho Power Company. She is responsible for effectively leading, and strategically directing the corporate Community Relations Activities, budgets and human resource issues. Susan brings vast experience to the Boise Co-op Board of Directors with her years of community relations and financial management experience. Susan has been on the Board for 5 years.

Former President and Chief Executive Officer of AMI Semiconductor (2001-2008); President and Chief Executive Officer of Standard Microsystems Corporation (since 2008); director of Analog Devices, Inc. (since 2003); director of Idaho Power and IDACORP since November 2006.

James E. Terrill, now a retiree, served as vice chairman of the Board of Jefferson Smurfit Corporation, a company specializing in recyclable paper. The company is one of the top producers of newsprint in the United States and manufactures folding cartons, labels, paper tubes and cores. After nearly four decades in the paper and paperboard packaging industry, Terrill retired from the Jefferson Smurfit Corporation as its chief executive officer in 1996. After 11 years with the Potlatch Corporation in sales and management positions, he joined Alton Box Board Company in 1971, where he had general manager responsibilities in its container division. In 1974, Terrill became regional manager of the company's Industrial Packaging Division. Five years later, when Alton Box Board was acquired by Jefferson Smurift Corporation, Terrill was named division vice president and general manager. In 1986, Terrill was appointed president of Smurfit Newsprint Corporation, an affiliate part of the company. In 1990, he was named executive vice president of Operations. In four years, he was promoted to president and chief executive officer. Terrill is a 1959 graduate of the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and economics.

James R. Baggett earned his bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Idaho in 1952 and his doctorate in 1956 from Oregon State University.

Walt is the senior litigation attorney and partner for the Boise office of Holland & Hart - a 53-year-old, Denver-based law firm with more that 100 partners and more than 200 attorneys. Before then, his firm was Langroise Sullivan & Smylie. He was a trial lawyer with the firm beginning in 1972 until 1984 when it merged with Holland & Hart. Prior to 1972, Walt was the deputy attorney general for the state of Idaho and served as general counsel for the Idaho State Department of Insurance and the Idaho State Tax Commission.
