Ameren, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a public utility holding company registered with the SEC under the PUHCA. Ameren was formed in 1997 by the merger of UE and CIPSCO, the former parent company of CIPS. Ameren acquired CILCORP in 2003 and IP in 2004. Amerens primary asset is the common stock of its subsidiaries, including UE, CIPS, Genco, CILCORP and IP. Amerens subsidiaries operate rate-regulated electric generation, transmission and distribution businesses, rate-regulated natural gas distribution businesses, and non-rate-regulated electric generation businesses in Missouri and Illinois. Dividends on Amerens common stock are dependent on distributions made to it by its subsidiaries. Shawn Schukar was named Vice President, Ameren Energy Inc. on June 1, 2005. Prior to this position, he was vice president, Commercial RTO Operations, for Ameren Services.
