Headquartered in an advanced ISO 9001-certified facility near the Pittsburgh International Airport, Industrial Scientific provides equipment that is used for safety and industrial hygiene in potentially dangerous locations. Principal markets for the Company's products include oil refineries, oil exploration and drilling operations including offshore rigs, underground mining and tunneling, utilities including telephone, electric, natural gas, water and wastewater treatment facilities, municipal agencies such as police, fire and hazardous response units, government regulatory agencies such as EPA, OSHA, and MSHA, insurance companies, and food and beverage-processing companies. The Company's products range from hand-held instruments capable of monitoring a single toxic gas up to permanently installed systems capable of monitoring many different gases in hundreds of locations from a central monitoring station. Mr. Cohen is a founder and the Chairman of the Pittsburgh law firm of Cohen & Grigsby, P.C. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he taught securities regulation for 22 years and currently teaches a seminar entitled "Enterprise Organization and Finance." In private practice for over 32 years, Mr. Cohen has gained extensive experience in planning, negotiating and documenting public and private capital formation transactions and business combination transactions. He has also devoted considerable time to serve as a director of public and private for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations. Mr. Cohen received his J.D. degree with distinction from the University of Michigan Law School in 1965 and his undergraduate degree with distinction from Dartmouth College in 1962.
