He previously founded and led Infoseek Corporation, a leading Internet navigation service, before its acquisition in 1999 by the Walt Disney Company. A seasoned entrepreneur, he started Frame Technology in 1986 and Mouse Systems in 1982. As well-known Silicon Valley philanthropists, Steve and Michele Kirsch were honored as "1999 Outstanding Philanthropists" by the Silicon Valley chapter of NSFRE. They were ranked #8 on the Slate 60, (an article portraying the largest American charitable contributions of 1999), and number 96 on the Worth Magazine list of the "100 Most Generous Americans" in 1999.
