Mr. Hoffman has been a Director of Millipore since 1976 and is currently a Member of the Audit and Finance Committee and the Management Development and Compensation Committee. Mr. Hoffman received an undergraduate degree from Harvard College in Engineering and Applied Physics, a Masters degree in economics from Cambridge University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. In 1963, as an M.I.T. Fellow in Africa, Mr. Hoffman joined the East African Common Services Organization. In 1966, Mr. Hoffman joined International Finance Corporation (investment banking affiliate of the World Bank). From 1969 to 1974, Mr. Hoffman served as a Director of Hambros Bank, Ltd., London, England. From 1975 to 1981, Mr. Hoffman was a Director, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of George Weston, Ltd., and was appointed President of its Resource Group in 1981. From 1982 until 1984, when he undertook his current activities as an independent investor and consultant, Mr. Hoffman served as Managing Director of Guinness Peat Group p.l.c., engaged through subsidiaries worldwide in merchant banking, insurance brokerage, leasing, property, energy and other management and financial service activities. Mr. Hoffman is currently Chairman of Cambridge Research Group Ltd., a development capital and technology transfer company in Cambridge, England and of Guinness Flight Venture Capital Trust PLC, London. Mr. Hoffman also serves as a Director of George Weston Limited, Toronto; Advent International Corporation, Boston; and Hermes Focus Asset Management Limited, London.
Phil Theodore was named Senior Vice President and General Counsel of John H. Harland Company in 2006. He replaces John Walters who will retire in early 2007. He is responsible for all of Harland's legal and corporate governance activities. Theodore brings almost 30 years of legal experience to Harland, most recently as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Serologicals Corporation prior to its acquisition by Millipore Corporation earlier this year. He joined Serologicals in 2004 after a 22-year career with King & Spalding LLP, where he specialized in mergers, acquisitions, corporate governance and corporate finance. Theodore received his bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee and his law degree from the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Edward Scolnick earned his MD degree from Harvard Medical School and received 2 years of Internal Medicine Training at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He spent 15 years at the National Institute of Health where he made seminal discoveries on the nature of genes that cause cancer in humans. He then spent 22 years at the Merck Research Labs where he was head of Research from 1985 to 2002. Since then he has been at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard as Director of the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research, which is directed at understanding the causes of Schizophrenia and Bipolar illness and finding new ways to treat these illnesses.

Dr. Dennis Harris is a co-founder of Microchip Biotechnologies and he is currently Chief Scientific Officer at Millipore. Dr. Harris is an experienced senior manager who has spent the majority of his career developing and implementing business strategies for life science companies to maximize their research and development efforts and ability to bring innovation to customers. In his various roles, he has initiated and led portfolio acquisitions and negotiated technology collaborations. Dr. Harris is a member of the Board of Directors for Biolog Inc. Prior positions include Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Serologicals Corporation, Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Vitra Bioscience, Senior Vice President at Aclara Biosciences, and Vice President of Research and Development at Amersham Pharmacia Biotech, now part of GE Healthcare. Dennis started his career as a development scientist of molecular biology kits and reagents. He also has extensive background in DNA sequencing and laboratory automation systems. Dr. Harris earned his B.SC. Hons. in Biochemistry and Ph.D. from the University of Sussex, England. He has authored 17 papers.
