During his thirty-year career in the information technology industry, Mike Braun has been CEO of two Silicon Valley software companies and General Manager of four major businesses at IBM. He is currently CEO of the Interim CEO Network. Most of Mike's experience has been working in businesses based on advanced technology in the early stage of market adoption or with businesses needing substantial restructuring around a new vision. Most recently, he returned to IBM in late 1998 to restructure its $3 billion Consumer Division and then ran the $3.5 billion Global Small Business Division until his retirement in August 2000. Mike was also a founder and VP of IBM's Multimedia Division in 1990 and started its Fireworks Partners venture fund in 1992. He also helped launch SNA in 1977 and the original IBM PC in 1981. Mike was also CEO of Blaze Software, the leader in business rule automation software for applications with advanced personalization needs and the CEO of Kaleida Labs, the high profile multimedia joint venture of Apple and IBM from 1993 to 1995.

Brian Jacobs is a Founder and General Partner of Emergence. He has over 18 years of venture capital experience, a deep national network and broad experience helping both consumer and business-oriented startups achieve their business goals. Prior to founding Emergence, Brian was an early General Partner at St. Paul Venture Capital. During his 10 years at St. Paul, Brian helped to grow the firm to one of the 15 largest venture investors in the country and led the Silicon Valley investing activities. His prior venture capital experience was with Security Pacific Venture Capital. Brian also worked for the Raychem Corporation, where he developed and marketed advanced software and electronic components. In addition, he has engineering and new product experience with RCA, Westinghouse, and Polaroid; and he holds several patents. In January 2006, he was named to the Forbes' Midas List of the top venture capital investors. He is an experienced board member who has served on dozens of public and private boards. He currently serves on the boards of Visage Mobile, Krugle, Intacct and DVDPlay. Brian has a strong reputation for helping entrepreneurs build innovative technology-enabled service companies. Brian has been an active investor in WebTV (Microsoft), HireRight, BigFix and NextCard (NXCD). In addition, Brian has invested in a broad variety of technology companies, such as nQuire Software (Siebel Systems), Microchip Technologies (MCHP), NetPerceptions (NETP), Cloudscape (Informix) and Lexar Media (LEXR), where he led the initial venture capital round and lead the board through its billion dollar sale to Micron Technology. Brian has a MS and BS in mechanical engineering from M.I.T. and an MBA from Stanford. He is happily married with two children. He enjoys international travel and scuba diving.

Frank is a Principal in Newbury's Redwood Shores office, focusing on software, Internet, and wireless investments. He has been with the firm since 2004. Frank is a Board observer at NextBio and Sensor Platforms, and helped make the firm's investments in MetaLINCS (acquired by Seagate), Andigilog (acquired by Standard Microsystems), BDNA, and Echovox. Prior to joining Newbury, Frank was a Principal at Panasonic Ventures, the venture capital arm of Matsushita Electric, where he helped drive investments in P-Cube (acquired by Cisco), Premier Retail Networks (acquired by Thomson), Raindance (RNDC), MontaVista Software, and Intacct. While at Panasonic Ventures and Panasonic Internet Incubator, Frank structured numerous revenue-generating partnerships between Panasonic's business units and other technology companies. Prior to Panasonic Ventures, Frank was at Salomon Smith Barney's Technology Investment Banking Group in San Francisco with deal experience in M&A, equity offerings and private placements for software, semiconductor, and networking equipment companies. Previously, Frank was a Financial Analyst in the M&A Group of Salomon Smith Barney in New York. He was also a Summer Associate at Goldman Sachs Investment Banking Division in Hong Kong. Frank holds an A.B. with honors in Applied Mathematics from Harvard and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley.
