Mark Hawkins is President & CEO of InterWest. Mr. Hawkins has over 25 years experience in the health care field. Prior to coming to Missoula, he spent 13 years working in senior management positions at New Mexico Blue Cross Blue Shield and King County Medical Blue Shield in Seattle. Prior to that, he worked as an assistant administrator at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia and a health care planner in the Office of the Surgeon General at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in Washington, DC. Mr. Hawkins has an MPH degree in Hospital Administration & Health Systems Management from Tulane University in New Orleans.

Dr. Oronsky has been a member of our Board of Directors since November 1996 and was elected Chairman in February 2006. Dr. Oronsky is a general partner with InterWest Partners, a venture capital firm. Prior to joining InterWest Partners in 1994, Dr. Oronsky was vice president of discovery research for the Lederle Laboratories division of American Cyanamid, a pharmaceutical company. From 1973 until 1976, Dr. Oronsky was head of the inflammation, allergy and immunology research program at Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceutical Company. Dr. Oronsky also serves as a senior lecturer in the Department of Medicine at Johns Hopkins Medical School. Dr. Oronsky has won numerous grants and awards and has published over 125 scientific articles. Dr. Oronsky serves on the boards of directors of Aspreva Pharmaceuticals Corporation; Anesiva, Inc.; and Metabasis Therapeutics, Inc. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, and his AB from New York University.

Mr. Nash is an entrepreneur in the technology industry where he has successfully developed several companies. He is currently a member of InterWest Partners, a technology venture capital partnership with practices in information technology and life sciences. He serves as a Partner in the Dallas office for InterWest and is a member of the Board of Directors for Lombardi Software, NovusEdge, Pivot3, Resolution EBS and Vendavo. Mr. Nash has led large firms as well as small ones. He had successful tenures at Perot Systems where he was a senior vice-president and at EDS earlier in his career. He has previously served as president of three smaller firms, Advanced Telemarketing, Teleci and Rubicon, all of which became publicly held entities. His career includes in-depth business experience abroad with a two-year assignment leading the European division of Perot Systems while living in London, England.

Nina Kjellson is a Partner at InterWest Partners where she focuses primarily on investments in the biopharmaceutical area. Prior to joining InterWest, she was an investment manager at Bay City Capital, a life sciences merchant bank, and a research associate at Oracle Partners, a healthcare-focused hedge fund. Ms. Kjellson began her career conducting health policy and survey research with the Kaiser Family Foundation. She holds a degree in human biology from Stanford University.

James joined INTERWEST CONSTRUCTION, INC. in 1994. James has a diversified background in construction, project management, construction management, and contract administration in residential, commercial and industrial markets. He has successfully fulfilled the duties of construction manager, project manager, and resident engineer for owners, consulting firms and design/manufacturing companies. He is a registered civil engineer in Oregon, Wyoming and Indiana and has a Masters Degree in Business Administration. James H. Confer, Jr., BS, Business Adminstration, joined Interwest in 1996. He is currently Vice President of Field Operations responsible for the scheduling and quality of daily work activities.

Susan Knox, Ph.D., M.D., is a consultant with InterWest Partners' Life Sciences team and is the co-founder of InterWest portfolio company, RadioRx. Dr. Knox is an Associate Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Within the school of medicine, she is part of the training programs in cancer biology, immunology and molecular pharmacology, as well as an advising dean. Dr. Knox is also a member of the Stanford University Bio X program and Comprehensive Cancer Center. At the Cancer Center, she is a physician in the clinical department of radiation oncology, a member of the cancer biology and experimental therapeutics programs, director of the protocol review and monitoring system, and chair of the data and safety monitoring committee. In addition, Dr. Knox has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles focused on radiation oncology, radiobiology, targeted therapies and novel radiosensitizers. She has filed six patents and has received national awards and recognition for research. In addition, she was on the selection committee for the Charles F. Kettering Award from the General Motors Cancer Research Foundation, and was named a Lazard Faculty Scholar. Dr. Knox has served on numerous educational, scientific and translational medicine committees within national and international organizations/societies, in addition to editorial boards for several academic journals. Dr. Knox brings more than 20 years of experience working in the medical field, focusing on radiation oncology and translational medicine. Dr. Knox has a B.A. from UC Berkeley with Honors, Ph.D. from UC Davis, and M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine.
