William D. Young has served as Chief Executive Officer since November 1999 and has served as Chairman of the Board since May 1999. From March 1997 to October 1999, Mr. Young was Chief Operating Officer at Genentech, Inc., a biotechnology company. David H. Persing, MD, PhD has served as a director since December 2000. Dr. Persing received his BA degree in biochemistry from San Jose State University, and his MD and PhD (biochemistry and biophysics) concurrently from the University of California, San Francisco.
