I love the people here and believe me, there is never a dull day! I am always in contact with people from all over the world. My primary customers are from Mexico and Latin America and my days are full of challenges as every country has their different regulations and ways to handle business. I always thought of retiring here and that almost came to an end when Farmland filed for bankruptcy and we went through a year of questioning our future every day. The day C. Larry Pope, Smithfield Foods, Inc. President and COO, came to welcome us to the Smithfield family questions came and questions went. I was bursting with only one thing, making sure he knew each of us at Farmland Foods were greatly thankful for being part of the new family but no one expressed it...except me. I let him know, we now have hope in a future that was very bleak for all of us and that we will continue working very hard to show we're back at the top and make Smithfield proud.
My career with Smithfield Beef Group began when I accepted a Superintendent position with Sun Land Beef Company in 2000. The position was a promotion for me from my job at that time. I like the work ethic in this organization and its people. I could go on and on.
