Board of Directors
Mr. Robert is founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of J.E. Robert Companies and Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the board of directors of JER Investors Trust. Mr. Robert is a member of JER Partners’ Global Investment Committee.
He is responsible for establishing the strategic direction of the firm and developing and managing key relationships for deal origination and capital sourcing. Over the past several years, he has been actively involved in expanding the Company internationally, particularly in Europe, Russia and Latin America. In 2002, Mr. Robert received the highest civilian honor from the president of Colombia, La Orden de Boyacá.
In 1990, Mr. Robert founded and continues to serve as Chairman of Fight For Children, Inc. (“FFC”), a Washington based philanthropic organization whose mission is to create, promote and invest in K-12 educational opportunities that successfully prepare children for college and the workplace, and to provide a quality primary healthcare option for our youth. Since FFC’s inception, the organization has raised more than $105 million through contributions, matching grants and public policy initiatives to support over 150 youth-serving organizations in the Washington, DC region. In addition, Mr. Robert is the Chairman of the Washington Scholarship Fund and was Chairman of the successful $300 million Comprehensive Campaign at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, which resulted in the building of the Joseph E. Robert, Jr. Center for Surgical Care at the Children’s National Medical Center.
Mr. Robert served as Vice Chairman of the Board of the National Realty Committee, was a member of its Executive Committee and is a founding member of the Real Estate Roundtable. Mr. Robert is also a member of the board of the following organizations: Peter G. Peterson Institute for International Economics, The International Advisory Board of EuroHypo AG, National Health Museum, Atlantic Council of the US, Lehman Brothers Private Equity Advisory Board, Quincy Jones Listen Up Foundation, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Policy Advisory Board of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics of the University of California.

Mr. Brent Feigenbaum joined J.E. Robert Companies in 2008 as Director and Chief Marketing Officer. He is responsible for branding and corporate positioning, public relations, advertising and communications both internally and externally.COLLAPSE
Mr. Feigenbaum joined J.E. Robert Companies from GE Real Estate where he served as Global Marketing Communications Director. There he developed a global brand strategy and positioning for the real estate business and launched public relations and advertising campaigns to support the strategy. Prior to GE, Mr. Feigenbaum was responsible for client communications and marketing at the Citigroup Private Bank and in Citigroup’s Corporate Bank. Mr. Feigenbaum has also worked in various strategic marketing roles for The Chase Manhattan Bank, National Westminster Bank and the Economist Intelligence Unit.
Mr. Feigenbaum holds an A.B. in history from Vassar College, a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University, and a Master of International Economics and Management from SDA Bocconi (Milan, Italy). He currently is co-chair of the Friends Council for the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar.
Mr. McGillis is our Chief Financial Officer, Vice President and Treasurer. He is responsible for the finance and accounting functions of our business. Mr. McGillis joined J.E. Robert Companies in 2006 from Freddie Mac, where he was a Vice President in finance from 2003 to 2006.
Prior to Freddie Mac, Mr. McGillis was the Chief Financial Officer of Starcom Holdings/Constar International from 1999 to 2003. He has also worked in Chief Financial Officer, portfolio management, corporate finance and audit capacities at AEW Capital Management/Copley Real Estate Advisors, Robertson Ceco Corporation and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has over 20 years of diverse experience involving real estate and corporate valuations, acquisitions, sales and financing as well as financial reporting, operations and administration in both public and private companies. Mr. McGillis holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Northeastern University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. Belcher is Managing Director of J.E. Robert Companies and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Vice President of JER Investors Trust, Inc. Mr. Belcher is responsible for all CMBS acquisitions made by JER Partners and JER Investors Trust, Inc. and oversees the asset management of the underlying assets in such CMBS issuances assigned to J.E. Robert Companies as special servicer.
He is a member of the Global Investment Committee. Under his direction, CMBS acquisitions have exceeded $600 million in purchase price. Prior to his current role, Mr. Belcher managed the RTC Asset Management Contracts comprised of assets exceeding $3.5 billion.
Prior to joining J.E. Robert Companies in 1991, Mr. Belcher served as Senior Asset Manager for the Federal Asset Disposition Association (“FADA”), overseeing a non-performing loan portfolio in excess of $800 million. Prior to FADA, Mr. Belcher was a Vice President with InterFirst Bank in Dallas, responsible for a real estate portfolio averaging in excess of $100 million including acquisition and construction loans. In total, Mr. Belcher has more than 22 years of diverse real estate experience including loan workout, real estate management, construction lending and portfolio liquidation.
Mr. Belcher is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a B.B.A. degree in Finance and a B.A. in Economics. Mr. Belcher is a Director for the DeBusk Foundation (a charitable foundation providing grants for elementary educational programs).

Mr. Yoon is Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of JER and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of JRT. Mr. Yoon has primary responsibility for risk and portfolio management, capital markets and finance and accounting for JER. He is a member of the JER Fund Investment Committee and the JRT Investment Committee. Mr. Yoon was integrally involved in the formation and capitalization of JER Fund III, an $823 million private real estate equity fund, and JRT, a public New York Stock Exchange listed commercial real estate specialty finance company managed by an affiliate of JER. Mr. Yoon joined JER in January 1999, initially focused on acquisitions and investment management. Prior to JER, Mr. Yoon worked in the real estate investment banking group of Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York, NY and prior to that was an attorney at the law firm of Williams & Connolly in Washington, DC. Mr. Yoon received a B.A. in Biology from the John Hopkins University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and State of Maryland. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Langley School in McLean, VA and serves as the Chairperson of its Finance Committee.

Mr. Steenbergen is a Vice President in US Fund Investment Management and has been with JER Partners since January 2003. His primary responsibilities include the management and oversight of capital improvement projects, including over $200 million of construction and renovation work in the US Funds hospitality portfolio. Mr. van Steenbergen manages the physical and environmental due diligence process for new acquisitions, and is actively implementing an energy strategy of JER' Partner’s US fund investments.
Mr. van Steenbergen has also managed over $100 million in real estate investments, including several industrial distribution centers and office buildings. Prior to joining JER Partners, he was a senior engineer and department manager at PSI, Inc., an engineering consulting firm which specialized in real estate due diligence.
Mr. van Steenbergen received his B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Syracuse University in 1992. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Ms. Rathbun joined US Fund Investment Management in the spring of 2006. Prior to joining JER Partners, Ms. Rathbun served as Vice President of Asset Management for Jamestown Properties (Jamestown), a German syndicator, as well as Equitable/Lend Lease (now Morgan Stanley). At Jamestown she was responsible for a 3.3 million sq. ft., $800 million portfolio consisting of office, retail and land.
She has had experience in nearly all property types spanning markets across the US. Her career also includes work in the accounting/finance field (Deloitte & Touche), tactical and applied research, as well as risk management for commercial real estate investments.
Ms. Rathbun received her B.S. in Business/Accounting from the University of Vermont and also holds the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and the Certified Commercial Investment Management (CCIM) designations.
Mr. Murray is a Vice President in US Fund Investment Management at JER Partners. He is part of the team responsible for the acquisition and asset management of real estate investments for JER Partners. While at JER Partners, he has managed the successful acquisition of over $500 million in real estate assets in North America, including fee simple investments, joint ventures, and mezzanine debt placements.
Prior to joining JER Partners in 2003, Mr. Murray worked in project management for MOCA Systems and the Clark Construction Group. He also served as a Combat Engineer Officer in the United States Army.
Mr. Murray received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University, an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute.
Kenneth D. Krejca is a Director of J.E. Robert Companies and JER Commercial Debt Advisors LLC as well as Vice President of JER Investors Trust Inc. Mr. Krejca’s primary responsibilities include sourcing, underwriting and managing CMBS investments for us.
Before joining J.E. Robert Companies, Mr. Krejca was a director in Bank One’s CMBS investment group, involved in all facets of the CMBS investment process, including originating, underwriting, syndicating and managing loan pools. Mr. Krejca has over 9 years experience in subordinate CMBS investments. Mr. Krejca holds a B.S. degree in accounting from DePaul University.

Mr. Learsy is a Director of US Fund Investment Management at JER Partners. He is part of the team responsible for the evaluation, acquisition and asset management of investments for JER Partners’ US funds. Mr. Learsy has managed the acquisition of over $4 billion in real estate assets in North America and has served on the board of directors of Genesis Health Care and Tandem Health Care on JER Partners’ behalf.
Prior to joining JER Partners, he worked for McKinsey & Company in Washington, D.C. and, before that, for Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York.
Mr. Learsy received a J.D. from Yale Law School and obtained an A.B. degree from Harvard College. He is also a CFA charterholder.
Mr. Gilbert is a Managing Director and Head of the US Fund Business responsible for overseeing all new investments made by JER Partners’ US funds. He is a member of the Global Investment Committee, the European Investment Committee and is the chairman of the North American Investment Committee. COLLAPSE
Mr. Gilbert joined JER Partners in 2003 as a Director and was subsequently promoted to Principal in 2005 and to Managing Director in 2007. Mr. Gilbert has been responsible for sourcing, negotiating and closing $5 billion of acquisitions in the US since joining JER Partners. Previously, he was an Executive Vice President at Jones Lang LaSalle. Prior to that, he was a Principal at William E. Simon & Sons Realty Investments. In this role, Mr. Gilbert was part of the team responsible for the evaluation, acquisition and asset management of a $1.0 billion real estate portfolio in the US and Latin America. Mr. Gilbert has also served with the Real Estate Investment Banking Division at Morgan Stanley & Co. Mr. Gilbert also worked for LaSalle Partners as a Vice President where he was responsible for the property management and leasing of LaSalle’s 7 million sf, 16 building, third-party midtown Manhattan portfolio. Mr. Gilbert began his career with the US Air Force, where he served as a Captain and Instructor Pilot.
Mr. Gilbert graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1987 and received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1994. Mr. Gilbert is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Mr. Ward is the General Counsel for J.E. Robert Companies and Secretary of JER Investors Trust, Inc. He is also a member of the Global Investment Committee, the North American Investment Committee, the European Investment Committee, the Marbleton Fund Investment Committee, and the Latin American Investment Committee.
Mr. Ward is responsible for all legal matters involving investment structuring, document negotiation and transaction closings and capital raising activities for JER Partners and JER Investors Trust, Inc.
After joining J.E. Robert Companies in 1991, Mr. Ward served as General Counsel for the J.E. Robert Companies/Goldman Sachs venture which acquired $7.4 billion in sellers’ book value in distressed US real estate and loans from the RTC, insurance companies and banks in both sealed bid auctions and privately negotiated transactions from 1991 through 1996. While at J.E. Robert Companies, Mr. Ward has directed the closings for approximately 35 portfolios with over 2,100 assets and participated in the securitization of $568 million of non-performing loans and $270 million of performing loans.
Mr. Ward is a summa cum laude graduate of Villanova University where he obtained a B.S. degree in Accounting. He received a J.D. degree with honors from The National Law Center, George Washington University. Mr. Ward is a member of the Washington, DC Bar Association.

Mr. Arnesen is a Managing Director at JER Partners and is a member of both the North American Investment Committee and the Eurpean Investment Committee. Prior to joining JER Partners, he was Managing Director of Acquisitions and a member of the investment committee for Starwood Capital Group Global LLC (Starwood) from 2002 to 2008.
During his tenure at Starwood, Mr. Arnesen focused on all types of real estate investments/developments in North America and assisted the Starwood European team. He also participated in the investment of over $3 billion of equity or approximately $12 billion of total investments, and was directly involved in the acquisition and/or development of hotels, office, industrial/warehouse, retail, residential, land, mixed use projects and marinas. Previously, Mr. Arnesen was a real estate Principal at J.P. Morgan Partners where he was directly involved in over $2.5 billion of acquisitions, and was in the real estate workout group of Chase Manhattan Bank where he worked on over $10 billion of problem real estate loans and assets. Mr. Arnesen’s initial employment was as an associate with the law firm of Stern & Persichelli.
Mr. Arnesen is a graduate of Washington and Lee University School of Law, from which he received his Juris Doctor degree. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Vanderbilt University. Mr. Arnesen is a member of the New York State Bar, the Urban Land Institute, and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Mr. R--f received a B.A. in Architecture and City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Mr. Ratinoff joined JER Partners in September 2004 as a Director in the US Fund Investment Management group and was promoted in December 2007 to Managing Director. Mr. Ratinoff is a member of the North American Investment Committee.
Mr. Ratinoff is responsible for acquisitions and joint ventures throughout the western US for JER Partners. Prior to joining JER Partners, Mr. Ratinoff held senior positions focusing on real estate investment banking with McDonald Investments, Chase Securities and BT Alex Brown, executing public and private capital market transactions for west coast-based real estate companies. Mr. Ratinoff also served as Principal with Fowler Flanagan Partners, where he was responsible for the acquisition, financing and development of real estate assets and as Project Manager for the Paragon Group, where he was responsible for the development of office and industrial projects in the San Francisco bay area.
Mr. Ratinoff received a B.A. in Architecture and City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Managing Director, US Fund Investment Management, JER Partners
Mr. Small joined JER Partners in 2005 as a Director in the Fund Investment Management group, responsible for the origination and acquisition of real estate transactions.
Mr. Small joined JER Partners from Crescent Capital Partners, an entrepreneurial real estate investment firm he founded in 2004. Prior to Crescent Capital, Mr. Small led new investment efforts as a Senior Vice President at Lawrence Ruben Co., Inc. in New York City. He has also served as a Principal at Barrow Street Capital LLC, as a Vice President at Blackacre Capital Management LLC and an Associate at Lend Lease Real Estate Investments. Mr. Small began his career at LaSalle Partners in New York. Mr. Small earned a B.A. in Sociology from Princeton University and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Mr. Green, Managing Director and Co-Head, Global Capital Markets & Client Relations, shares responsibility for building and managing the JER Partners capital markets team while overseeing all investor relations and capital raising activities around the globe.
Mr. Green has over 20 years of marketing and financial services experience. Mr. Green was most recently the Global Head of Marketing and Client Relations for Citi Property Investors (“CPI”), overseeing CPI’s institutional, high net worth and retail channels, marketing and client relations functions. During his tenure at CPI, Mr. Green successfully built and managed the Marketing & Capital Markets group at CPI attracting more than 70 institutional clients throughout the world while serving as a member of the senior management committee and the investment committees for CPI's North American, European and Asia Pacific funds.
Prior to joining CPI, Mr. Green was a Principal of AEW Capital Management L.P.(“AEW”). He served as the REIT Product Manager and as a Relationship Manager with responsibility for marketing AEW’s investment services and for developing and maintaining client relationships. Before joining AEW, Mr. Green was a Partner and Managing Director of Marketing at S.B. Carr Investments. Additionally, he held positions in marketing and asset management at LandVest, Inc., the Bank of Boston and First Concord Financial Corp. Mr. Green holds a B.A. from Boston College.

Mr. Smith is a Managing Director and a member of the North American Investment Committee and the Latin American Investment Committee. Mr. Smith is primarily responsible for overseeing the asset management activities of JER Parners’ US private equity real estate funds.
Prior to joining JER Parners, Mr. Smith was a Director at JAMESTOWN, where he was responsible for developing the firm’s opportunistic real estate investment program. He has also worked at CGR Advisors as a Vice President and Partner, responsible for acquisitions and asset management of the Rodamco North America/Abp operating company investment program. Mr. Smith began his career at LaSalle Partners in New York City and was a Regional Manager for leasing and management.
Mr. Smith has a B.A. in Economics from Hobart College and an M.B.A. in Finance from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Mr. Smith is a member of the National Association of Industrial & Office Properties.
Together with JER Partners’ senior management team and Latin American Advisory Board, Mr. Horcel is responsible for assembling and managing a team of Latin American professionals to source, acquire and manage opportunistic real estate investments in the region.
He is a member of the Global Investment Committee and is Chairman of the Latin American Investment Committee. Mr. Horcel is based in McLean, VA. A Brazilian national and US citizen, Mr. Horcel previously worked for GE Capital for 10 years in offices in Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Italy and the US. Most recently, as Managing Director of GE Real Estate Southern Europe, he was responsible for originating more than $2 billion of commercial real estate throughout Spain, Italy and Portugal, and overseeing a team of 35 employees. Mr. Horcel also held the position of General Manager Mexico for GE Capital Commercial Equipment Financing, where he oversaw the management of $1.2 billion in assets and 45 employees, as well as Managing Director, Banco GE Capital in Brazil. He began his career at Naumann Gepp, a Brazilian-based, multi-national export company.
Mr. Horcel holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and a B.S. in Business Administration from Fundação Lusiada. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

A native Washingtonian, Jim is best known as the founder of America Online, Inc. (AOL). He transformed what began as Quantum Computer Services in 1985 into the nation's leading independent provider of interactive online services to consumers. In 1996, he became AOL Chairman Emeritus and turned his energies to new challenges in business, philanthropy and personal diplomacy through the creation of the Kimsey Foundation. Over the past 25 years, Jim founded and served on the boards of a number of successful businesses in the Washington DC area. He currently holds presidential appointments to the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees and contributes his leadership to numerous civic and charitable organizations. Jim is also deeply engaged in international affairs. He accompanied former President Clinton to Vietnam and in his position as Chairman of the Board of Refugees International visited Bosnia, Timbuktu and Cambodia to assess refugee repatriation, land mine removal and other human rights concerns. In 2001, Jim was named Chairman of the International Commission of Missing Persons in Bosnia, by Secretary of State Colin Powell. He has also recently traveled to Iraq to assess the humanitarian situation. A decorated veteran, Jim served three combat tours as an Airborne Ranger, two in Vietnam, earning various awards for service and valor. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and studied at Georgetown University on an honors scholarship.

W. Russell Ramsey has served as a Director of Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group, Inc. (FBR) since 1989 when he co-founded the company with Emanuel J. Friedman and Eric F. Billings. Mr. Ramsey resigned as President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of FBR on December 31, 2001. Mr. Ramsey is Chairman and CEO of Ramsey Asset Management LLC, an asset management firm specializing in alternative investment strategies including public equities, high yield and convertible bonds, high-growth private companies and other absolute return strategies. magazine called him the "first financier to focus on the then nascent Internet economy" in the area. In 1997, the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) presented Mr. Ramsey with their annual "Financier of the Year" award for his contributions to the economic development of the Greater Washington region's technology community. Mr. Ramsey is a member of the board of Directors of Quanta Capital Holdings Ltd. and JER Investors Trust. Mr. Ramsey is Vice Chairman of the George Washington University Board of Trustees and a member of the Council of Advisors of the National Geographic Society. Mr. Ramsey is a native Washingtonian, attended George Washington University on a baseball scholarship, and was recently named a member of the All-Century Baseball Team and elected to George Washington University's Athletic Hall of Fame. He is involved with many charitable causes including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Boys and Girls Clubs, Venture Philanthropy Partners, Make-A-Wish Foundation, School Night, Fight for Children, and other efforts supporting the community and children in need. He and his wife Norma have endowed a number of scholarships and educational programs through their charitable foundation.

Jessica Einhorn became Dean of the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University, on June 1, 2002. Dr. Einhorn, the first SAIS graduate to serve as Dean, is known internationally for her knowledge of global capital markets, public finance and portfolio risk management.
Most recently she served as a consultant in the Washington office of Clark & Weinstock, a firm that specializes in strategic communication and public affairs consulting. In August 1999, Dr. Einhorn concluded her career of nearly 20 years of service with the World Bank. In the wake of the Asian financial crisis, from 1998 to 1999, she spent a year as a visiting fellow at the International Monetary Fund. From 1996 to 1998, she was managing director of the World Bank, where she was in charge of the financial management of the World Bank and its activities in resource mobilization from the public and private sectors. She assumed this position after serving as the vice president and treasurer of the World Bank, a position she held since 1992. Prior to joining the World Bank, Dr. Einhorn held positions at the US Treasury, the US State Department and the International Development Cooperation Agency of the US.
Currently, she serves as a Director of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, the Center for Global Development, and the National Bureau of Economic Research. She is a former trustee of the German Marshall Fund and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and former director of the Council on Foreign Relations. In the private sector, she is a director of Time Warner, chair of the JER Global Advisory Board and a former director of Pitney Bowes.
Author of Expropriation Politics, Dr. Einhorn received her B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University, M.A. in International Affairs from SAIS and Ph.D. in politics from Princeton University. She also has studied at the London School of Economics and as a Fulbright Scholar in Caracas, Venezuela. From 1977 to 1978, she was at the Brookings Institution on a Rockefeller Foundation fellowship to study international bank lending. In 1991, she spent four months as a visiting fellow at the Institute for International Economics. In 1996, she completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business Administration.
Dr. Einhorn, a native of New York City, resides in Washington, DC, with her husband, Robert Einhorn.
Mr. Bell joined JER Partners in 2002 and specializes in asset management throughout Europe. Mr. Bell is involved in a variety of projects from development to adding value to existing projects and across all sectors. He is also responsible for the acquisition of a regional office portfolio in the UK known as PROMPT.
Prior to joining JER Partners, Mr. Bell worked at GE Capital Real Estate for over five years as a Senior Asset Manager where he was responsible for the closing and management of limited partnerships and overseeing the loan portfolio. He was also a director of its UK investment and trading companies.
Before GE, Mr. Bell worked for 10 years for Imry Merchant Developers PLC, buying, managing and selling commercial property throughout the UK.
Mr. Bell is a graduate of Nottingham Trent University with a BSc in Urban Estate Surveying.
Mr. Amavizca, based in Mexico City, is a Director and Head of Risk Management Latin America for JER Partners' Latin America Investments. Mr. Amavizca has 13 years of experience.
He joined JER Partners in 2008 from MIRA Companies, an affiliate of the Black Creek Group, where he was chief investment officer responsible for underwriting and due diligence activities for a private equity fund dedicated to the development of residential and infrastructure projects in Mexico. Mr. Amavizca was also employed by GE for eight years, where he spent his last three years at GE as a senior risk officer for GE Real Estate Mexico, responsible for leading the underwriting and closing teams throughout the due diligence process for debt financing and equity investments. During his tenure at GE Real Estate Mexico, Mr. Amavizca was a key contributor to business’ volume, including the largest industrial portfolio acquisition in Latin America, and actively participated in the creation of three equity platforms (industrial, retail and residential) as well as the structuring and launching of a construction lending program for the Mexican real estate market. Mr. Amavizca was member of GE Real Estate Mexico steering committee. Mr. Amavizca was also a senior risk officer in GE Commercial Equipment Finance–Capital Solutions in Mexico and held positions at Citibank and BBVA Bancomer. Mr. Amavizca is a Certified Public Accountant, holds a B.A. in accounting from Tec de Monterrey, and an M.B.A. from Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresa (IPADE Business School).
Dr. Bergsten has been Director of the Peterson Institute for International Economics since its creation in 1981. He served as Chairman of APEC’s Eminent Persons Group from 1993 through 1995 and as Chairman of the Competitiveness Policy Council, created by the US Congress, from 1991 to 1997.
He was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations’ Independent Task Force on The Future International Financial Architecture (1999) and the International Financial Institutions’ Advisory Commission created by the US Congress (2000). Dr. Bergsten was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs during 1977-81 and also functioned as Under Secretary for Monetary Affairs during 1980-81. During 1969-71, he was Assistant for International Economic Affairs to Dr. Henry Kissinger at the National Security Council. He has authored twenty-seven books on a wide range of international economic topics. He was awarded the Legion d’Honneur by the Government of France (1985) and is an Honorary Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (1997).
With 13 years of experience in Latin America, Mr. Bruneau has responsibility for sourcing, underwriting, negotiating and closing investments for the JER Partners. Mr. Bruneau joined JER Partners in 2006 from East-West Financial Services, Ltd., a financial advisory boutique that arranges financing for hospitality and real estate projects in Latin America.
Prior to joining East-West, Mr. Bruneau was an attorney at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP and previously at Wilmer Cutler & Pickering LLP. In both firms, he was a member of the Latin American Practice Group and provided legal advice to private equity funds, mezzanine funds, lenders and foreign investors in the region.
Mr. Bruneau holds a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, an M.A. in International Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a B.A. in Comparative Government from Georgetown University. Mr. Bruneau lived in Brazil for six years. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and conversant in French.

Mr. Chen is a Director in US Fund Investment Management at JER Partners. He is part of the team responsible for the evaluation, acquisition and asset management of investments for JER Partners’ US Fund business. Mr. Chen joined JER Partners in 1999 as part of the firm’s European team. He worked in JER Partners’ London office for three years before joining the US team in 2002. Mr. Chen has managed the acquisition of over $3.5 billion in real estate assets in North America and Western Europe since joining JER Partners.

Mr. Wilson is the founder and general partner of the private equity funds Thayer Lodging, a hotel investor, and Clarity China, which invests in Chinese companies. Mr. Wilson is Chairman Emeritus of Northwest Airlines. Mr. Wilson served as Chairman or Co-chairman of Northwest Airlines from 1991 to 2007.
Mr. Wilson joined The Walt Disney Company in 1985 and served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and Director until 1990. He continued as a Director until 2006. Before joining Disney, Mr. Wilson served for 11 years in executive positions at Marriott Corp., including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer responsible for strategic planning, financial management and corporate development and operating responsibility for Marriott's In-Flight Catering Division. Earlier, he was executive vice president and a director of Trans-Philippines Investment Corp., a Manila-based industrial complex with holdings in sugar, mining and heavy construction. A native of Alliance, Ohio, Mr. Wilson earned a bachelor's degree from Duke University. He received an M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Pepperdine University. He is a Trustee Emeritus of Duke University and serves on the Board of Overseers of The Keck School of Medicine at The University of Southern California, and the board of directors of Millennium Promise. He is a member of the NCAA Leadership Advisory Board. He is also a director of Yahoo! Inc. and CB Richard Ellis.

Mr. Gagnebin is the Vice Chairman of SBC Wealth Management AG, a holding company wholly owned by UBS. He has worked in banking his entire career and started with Swiss Bank Corporation (SBC) in 1969. UBS is one of the world's largest wealth managers, with $1,809 billion in invested assets.
Mr. Gagnebin's prior positions include Member of the Group Executive Board of UBS, Chairman of Wealth Management & Business Banking and CEO of the Private banking division of UBS. Following the merger of Union Bank of Switzerland and Swiss Bank Corporation in 1997, he was appointed Head of International Clients in the Private Banking division. In 1994, he was named Member of the Swiss Bank Corporation Group Executive Board, after serving as a Member of the Executive Board, Switzerland from 1992 to 1994. Mr. Gagnebin is a Swiss citizen.
Mr. Wallenberg is Chairman of the Board of Investor AB, an investment company with substantial interests in several major Swedish corporations, and Vice-Chairman of SEB, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (“SEB”) and a board member of the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.
Mr. Wallenberg serves also on the boards of Atlas Copco AB (Vice Chairman), SAS AB (Vice Chairman), The Coca-Cola Company and ABB. Mr. Wallenberg also serves on a number of non-corporate boards such as the Nobel Foundation. Born in Stockholm in 1956, Mr. Wallenberg was educated at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a B.S. in Economics and an M.B.A. After extensive training programs at a number of international banks, Mr. Wallenberg joined SEB in 1984 and held various posts at the bank primarily in Sweden but also in Singapore, Hong Kong, London and New York. From 1990 to 1992, Mr. Wallenberg was Deputy Managing Director of Investor AB. After rejoining SEB in 1993, Mr. Wallenberg was appointed CEO in 1997 and was Chairman of the Board between 1998 and 2005. Mr. Wallenberg attended the Royal Swedish Naval Academy and is today an Officer in the Royal Swedish Naval Reserve.

Mr. Bury joined JER Partners in 2006 as Director for European retail investment. He is mainly responsible for purchasing retail assets across Europe, working in close collaboration with JER Partners’ US partner, First Washington. Mr. Bury is a member of the European Investment Committee.
Prior to joining JER Partners, Mr. Bury was a Director of European investment for eight years at Henderson Global Investors where he was responsible for buying and selling retail assets across Europe as well as project development, new fund launches and was also involved in equity raising.
Mr. Bury has a B.A. with Joint Honours in History and Politics from Durham University and a M.Phil. post graduate in Land Management from Reading University. He is fluent in French.
Mr. Best joined JER Partners in February 2002, as Vice President and Counsel. He has specialized in commercial real estate transactions since graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1983.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Best worked for the law firm of Hunton & Williams, where he represented various commercial real estate players, including developers, owners, landlords, tenants, construction lenders, permanent lenders, equity investors, REITs, real estate mortgage investment conduits, governmental agencies and others. He also worked for the Charles E. Smith Companies (“Smith”), representing both the publicly-traded Smith apartment REIT, which merged with Archstone to form one of the largest apartment REITs in the nation, and the private office building REIT, which merged with Vornado to form one of the nation’s largest office building REITs.
Mr. Best’s experience spans all product types, including apartments, office, retail centers from major shopping malls to strip centers, hotels, assisted living facilities, golf courses, industrial projects, historic structures, mixed use projects and the like. He has been involved in various transaction types, including land assemblages, acquisitions, dispositions, financings, syndications, leasing, land use cases, loan workouts and foreclosures, and tax motivated transactions such as 1031 exchanges, synthetic leases and REIT unit exchanges, and various other sophisticated types of commercial real estate transactions.
Mr. de Chassey joined JER Partners in 1999 and is responsible for acquisitions in France, Switzerland, Iberia, and for hotel transactions across Europe. Prior to joining JER Partners’ London office in 2000, he was involved in acquisitions and asset management in the US. Mr. de Chassey is a member of the European Investment Committee.
Mr. de Chassey received a Masters in International Affairs from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and a Masters in Foreign Service with a major in Business and Finance from Georgetown University. He is a French national and also speaks English, German, Portuguese and Spanish.
Mr. Hagee is head of MWH Dimension Consulting. He is a director of IAP Worldwide Services, a logistic support company. He is also a director of Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC. In January 2007, he retired from the US Marine Corps after almost 39 years of service.
In his last active-duty position, he served as the Commandant of the Marine Corps and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Mr. Hagee also serves on several civic, community and philanthropic boards. He is a director of the Admiral Nimitz Foundation, the US Naval Academy Foundation, the World United Services Organization and the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. He is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and the US Naval Postgraduate School. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Arts in National Security Affairs. He has received several US and foreign awards.
Mr. Perroni, based in São Paulo, is a Director and Head of Brazil for JER Partners. Mr. Perroni has 25 years of experience in the development, construction, management and administration of real estate in Brazil.
Mr. Perroni joined JER Partners in 2008 from his prior position as CEO of Camargo Corrêa Desenvolvimento Imobiliário (CCDI). During his tenure, Mr. Perroni was responsible for leading the transformation of CCDI from an asset management company with 12 employees into one of Brazil’s top public real estate developers with 230 employees.
At CCDI, Mr. Perroni led the development of more than 30 residential and commercial projects totaling over $2.0 billion in sales. Mr. Perroni also led CCDI through the IPO process in 2007, successfully raising $250 million from a wide variety of local and foreign institutional investors. Prior to CCDI, Mr. Perroni held the position of Business Director at Birmann S.A Comércio e Empreendimentos in São Paulo, a leader of AAA commercial property development in Brazil, where he was responsible for the development of some of the most important office buildings in São Paulo. Since 2004, Mr. Perroni has been teaching courses for the Real Estate M.B.A. program of Fupan, a foundation associated with the FAU (Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo) of the Universidade de São Paulo.
Mr. Perroni holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado and a post graduate degree from the Universidade Politécnica di Milano in Italy. He is fluent in Portuguese, English and Italian.
Mr. Hernandez, based in Mexico City, is a Director and Head of Mexico for JER Partners. Mr. Hernandez has 10 years of investment experience. He joined JER Partners in 2008 from GE Capital Solutions in Mexico, where he was a Senior Vice President and National Sales Director.
In his most recent position at GE, Mr. Hernandez and his team originated over $1.2 billion per year in asset-based financing transactions and oversaw a team of 70 sales professionals. Over his ten-year career at GE, Mr. Hernandez was involved in the management of more than $3.2 billion in assets and executed over $2.8 billion in deals in a variety of sectors.
He brings to JER Partners the experience to manage a full-range portfolio of commercial finance products, from leasing through asset-based loans, structured finance and real estate. Prior to GE, Mr. Hernandez was with Citibank Global Corporate Banking in New York. The foundations of his career began with Procter & Gamble, where he managed capital expenditure projects from engineering through construction and start-up phases.
Mr. Hernandez holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the Tulane University Freeman School of Business and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana in Mexico City. He is fluent in Spanish and English.
Mr. Thieke is the Former Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Risk Metrics Group (“RMG”), a private company spun-off by JP Morgan in 1998 and a leading provider of risk measurement tools and data for financial institutions and through those institutions, for retail investors.
He currently serves as Lead Director and Chairman of the Nominating and Governance Committee of the RMG board. He also is a member of the Board of Directors of PNC Financial Services Corp, and serves as the Chairman of the board’s Risk Committee. He completed two, three-year terms as a member of the Board of Financial Services Authority, the United Kingdom’s regulator and supervisor of all financial services activity in the UK. He served as advisor to the Monetary Authority of Singapore on matters relating to regulatory and supervisory policies, market infrastructure development and risk management practices. From August 1989 to July 1999, Mr. Thieke was Chairman of the Risk Management Committee with J.P. Morgan where he served in a variety of senior management positions, including head of the Fixed Income Division, co-head of Global Markets, President and Chairman of JP Morgan Securities, Inc., head of the Corporate Risk Management Group, and he oversaw the Economic Research Group. As Executive Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, he held a wide range of senior management positions, including roles in Credit and Capital Markets, Open Market Operations, Banking Supervision, Discount Window Operations, Securities Operations and Planning and Control functions.
