Dow Jones Description
It was a long love affair with coffee that led Jeremiah Pick to the specialty coffee business 20 years ago. Then in 1993 he started our company, a business dedicated to providing the finest coffees to supermarkets, restaurants and natural food stores. Jeremiah is acknowledged as an industry pioneer; the first visionary to bring gourmet coffee to the grocery aisle. Our company is now 14 years young and going strong. What sets our coffees and our company apart? A simple concept: "Right Roast. Right Taste." Starting with the finest green coffee beans, selected by Jeremiah, each small batch is hand-roasted and married carefully to the right color profile to highlight the nuances of each coffee's origin and varietal character. The design of our whole drum, three-bag roaster insures that no flame ever contacts the beans during roasting, creating consistent and superior flavor profiles. The first of its kind in North America, this roaster, built in Brazil to strict European engineering and design standards, re-circulates heat and removes smoke and chaff. The roaster allows beans to maintain details of color, temperature and variety. It's both efficient and environmentally friendly. And the result? You taste the bean, not the burn. In February of 2007 we introduced our new precision coffee grinder. This grinder has revolutionized the quality of our ground coffee. Why? The grinder features 4 laser cut steel rollers that insure a uniform precise grind that maximizes the flavor of...

For Jeremiah Pick, naming his gourmet coffee company was rather simple. After all, when you have a relentless passion for discovering, blending, roasting, cupping and selling the world's finest coffee, a name like Jeremiah's Pick comes naturally. And Jeremiah's passion is expressed not only in every cup of exquisite coffee, but also in the stores that carry his brand, chosen specifically for their proven commitment to quality and service. Jeremiah's path to coffee perfection was not without detours. With an initial interest in visual media-he earned his BA in Business and Cinematography from Portland State University-he worked as a stringer for CBS News in the Northwest. It was then that he decided to quit his job and become a drummer. (If it's a surprise to you, imagine how his parents felt.) Jeremiah spent the next 13 years crisscrossing the country as a drummer/percussionist in various bands, playing with such fervor he was finally warned he'd suffer permanent damage to his hands if he continued to play.

Directly from high school Jerry spent his career in the grocery world, starting by cleaning the butcher shop and then moving upwards through various positions in management, operations and marketing for the Northern California division of Lucky Foods. As he developed his passion for coffee, he moved on to Seattle's Best Coffee where he built a large business relationship with major accounts located through the Southwestern United States. Jerry continues his "charge" as he grows our grocery accounts here at Jeremiah's Pick while he maintains the passion and rewards of the "sell".
