The company is the world's fourth-largest steel producer, making steel products for autos, construction, and other industries. It also has an engineering unit and an urban development unit that develops large properties. The company has annual revenues of about $26.1 billion and employs about 52,600 people. In February 2006 the company increased its holding in Nova Era Silicon S/A, a Brazilian producer and seller of ferrosilicon, from 25.5% to 74.5%.
