Captain Ted was raised near the Maumee River. Fishing was an obvious passion that drove him to get to the fish in any manner possible. Never having the right equipment, let alone a boat, Ted had to barter fish for lures or bait; unless he could find some on the river bottom or in a tree. Today things have changed, if there's a certain lure color or better electronics it is deemed a "Necessity"! And that is why we are aboard the BayerNecessities. Years of boat shows and falling asleep with catalogs, books, and magazines have brought us to the BayerNecessities, LLC. If the right lure isn't available, we design it and have it made. Captain Ted designs and markets lures for Lures Unlimited, LLC and is a VIP/Guide with Johnson Outdoors which includes Cannon Downriggers. Now with all the "Necessities" in place, we would like to share our passion to play on the water. Family is one of Ted's focal points. Unlike some charters, we encourage children and families to enjoy the water together. There is no greater pleasure than seeing a child catch a fish! Ted and Tammy were married on the water, with much of the family aboard! Sandusky Bay on Lake Erie is our home port, with a dock at the Boardwalk on Put-In-Bay. Throughout the year we will fish the Florida Keys, Lakes Huron & Michigan. Now we would like to share our knowledge of the area and the water with you. Whatever your ideas of fun on the water are, let us know. We will help you enjoy our area's greatest treasure, Lake Erie and it's natural resources. Captain Ted Bayer is a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer licensed by United States Coast Guard as a Master of Steam, Motor, or auxiliary Sail, of not more than 25 tons on the Great Lakes and Inland Waterways; also Authorized to engage in Commercial Assistance towing. A licensed guide with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
