Steven N. Kane was co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Gamesville of Watertown, Massachusetts, the leading Internet database marketing and interactive entertainment destination. Kane co-founded Gamesville in 1995 and oversaw all sales, marketing, product development and finance functions. Gamesville was acquired by Lycos, Inc. in November 1999. Gamesville was regularly amongst the 50 largest circulation web sites of any kind (as measured by Media Metrix) and was consistently in the top 10 sites for "stickiness," or frequency and duration of user sessions. Recognized for its highly innovative and valuable consumer data mining, profiling and targeting technologies - as well as its unique massively-multiplayer, real-time mass-appeal games which delivered a highly desirable 70% female, average age 34 demographic - the company became a profitable concern in 1997, and was highly accretive to Lycos Inc.'s earnings immediately upon consummation of the merger. Prior to Gamesville, Kane was a principal in, Elkay Products, Inc. of Shrewsbury, MA, the global developer, manufacturer and distributor of precision clinical and research laboratory consumables. At Elkay, Kane was responsible for all sales, marketing and information technology functions, including the company's substantial, key supplier relationships with Baxter International, Fisher Scientific, CMS, Owens & Minor and other global laboratory and hospital supply giants, as well as the company's close and lucrative OEM relationships with DuPont, Behring Diagnostics and other original equipment laboratory automation developers. In addition, Kane oversaw Elkay's cutting edge and essential EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) systems, which accounted for nearly 50% of the company's revenues. In April 1995, Elkay was acquired by The CIT Group Inc., and the company is now part of the Kendall division of Tyco International. Currently, Kane is founder, Chairman and CEO of GameLogic of Waltham, Massachusetts. Kane is also an Overseer of the Joslin Diabetes Center, the world's most respected facility for the study and treatment of diabetes.. Kane is a graduate of New York University and Phillips Academy Andover.
