Steve Coen was named president and CEO of the Kansas Health Foundation on Aug. 28, 2008. Since joining the Foundation in 1987, Coen has held a number of different positions, including director of public affairs and program officer. He has also served as vice president for administration for the past 10 years. During his tenure, Coen has been involved with all areas of program development, but has been particularly instrumental in designing and implementing the Foundation's leadership programs, including the Kansas Leadership Center, the Kansas Health Foundation Fellows, the Kansas Community Leadership Initiative and the GROW community foundation program. Coen also conceived the idea, and was instrumental in the development of, the Physical Dimensions program, a course that provides high school students with the knowledge and skills needed to engage in a physically-active, healthy lifestyle. Coen's work on this program earned him a national award from the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Coen was also awarded the American Association of Family and Consumer Science's 21st Century Community Champion Award. This award is presented to an individual or organization whose work over time has made a significant contribution in strengthening families. Before coming to the Foundation, Coen served as a legislative assistant to Sen. Bob Dole in Washington, D.C. and as state director of Sen. Dole's four Kansas offices. In addition to his professional experiences, Coen is a past member of the board of directors of the Kansas Humanities Council, has served as president of the board of directors for the Wichita River Festival and currently serves as chair of the Governor's Council on Fitness. He is also chair of the Chapel Hill Fellowship United Methodist Church Council. Coen, a native of St. John, Kan., completed his undergraduate work at Emporia State University and later earned a law degree from Washburn University in Topeka, Kan.

Christopher Power oversees the planning and implementation of internal and external communication strategies and programs in support of the Foundation's mission. He also works closely with the president and vice president for programs in establishing, managing and maintaining strategic planning and evaluation for the Foundation to assure the highest level of accountability in organizational capacity and grant making. Power joined the Foundation in 2000 after earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in communication at Wichita State University (WSU). During his graduate study, Power taught public speaking and was a research associate for the Interdisciplinary Communication Research Institute at WSU. He has published research in the areas of small group communication and leadership, received a top paper award from the National Communication Association and was recognized with a National Collegiate Communication Arts Award. Additionally, Power continues his involvement with his alma mater as a member of WSU's Elliott School of Communication Advisory Board.
Mary K. Campuzano brings a broad health background to her role as vice president for programs. Since joining the Kansas Health Foundation in 1989, she has served in several program-affiliated roles and was promoted to her current position in 1997. She is known for her deep understanding of health issues coupled with compassion for the individuals affected by these issues. Her prior work experience in the medical field includes clinical nursing in critical care, academic education and home health care. Campuzano serves as a key member of the Foundation team, helping define and carry out strategies that effect positive, lasting societal change. She oversees grants and works closely with the program team to both develop and implement programming. These fall within the Foundation's four program funding categories: children's health, public health, leadership and policy. A tireless advocate for philanthropy in general and the Foundation in particular, Campuzano has developed a reputation as a leader in the field. Grantmakers in Health honored her with its 1998 Terrance Keenan Leadership Award in Health Philanthropy.
Steve McDowell is the President of Rural Health Consultants, Inc. Steve's understanding of health care delivery and the need for integrated systems of care has been shaped by fourteen years of experience, both clinical and administrative, in hospitals, nursing homes, home health, hospice, primary care and public health. Steve is the Project Director for the Kansas Health Foundation's Integrated Community Health Development Project. He has worked in development and implementation of both provider based rural delivery networks and in community based planning efforts to create integrated systems of care. Steve has a B.S. Degree in Economics from Grinnell College and a M.A. in Social Work from the University of Kansas.
