Andy grew up in Santa Clara County, so he's still close to home. He studied trumpet with Claude Gordon for seven years, and with Dr. Herb Patnoe at DeAnza College while also studying math. He was later a computer science major at San Jose State University. Andy's musical career includes performances with jazz notables Toshiko Akiyoshi, Ashley Alexander, Jay Daversa, Madeline Eastman, Claire Fischer, Lou Marini, Don Menza, Art Pepper, Allyn Smith, Lew Tabackin, and Bill Watrous. He has also performed with James Brown and Tower of Power. The ensembles he has performed with include Blue Saints Jazz Band, Blue Velvet Sound, Bob Mocata Orchestra, DeAnza College Jazz Ensemble, Foothill Evening Jazz Ensemble, Full Faith & Credit=, Johnny Lampson Orchestra, Touch 'N' Go, and the West Valley Evening Jazz Ensemble. He currently lives in San Jose and works for the law firm of Kenyon & Kenyon as a litigation paralegal. While not playing with more famous players than most of us, Andy enjoys syncopated golf.

He represented Conexent Systems Inc. in a 2.8 billion dollar merger with another broadband and wireless solution provider, Globespan/Virata Inc., and rendered IP-related and contract advice for Rockwell Collins, Inc. in a 128 million dollar acquisition of NLX, LLC. Mr. Basov also provided legal advice to Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget SCA. and its subsidiaries in connection with the purchase of the "away from home" tissue business of Georgia-Pacific Corporation, with a market value of approximately $700 million, and represented Federated Department Stores and other on various matters involving assertions of patent infringement of e-commerce patents, trademark disputes and license negotiations. Mr. Basov has also worked on major patent and trademark litigations in recent years, representing companies such as Matsushita, Minebea Co. and Nippon Miniature Bearing Corp. in various lawsuits involving disk-drive motor patents and circuitry for LCD monitors, represented Conductus Inc. in a patent infringement lawsuit involving cryogenically cooled receiver front ends for cellular base stations, advised PhoneFree.com on the issues of infringement in the area of Internet telephony technology and advised Symbol Technologies, Inc. on various issues of patent and trademark infringement involving laser bar code scanning technology. Mr. Basov is a member of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association and the New York State Bar Association. He received his law degree from the Fordham School of Law and bachelor degrees in computer science and mathematics from the New York University.

Dr. Coppola has extensive experience in the area of biotechnology and pharmaceutical patent prosecution, opinions, interferences and licensing. Prior to joining Kenyon & Kenyon, Dr. Coppola spent more than five years as a senior attorney in the biotechnology practice group at Merck & Co., Inc. where he obtained patents and provided validity and infringement opinions in various areas such as newly discovered genes, drug discovery assays, Alzheimer's disease research, functional genomics, ion channels, hepatitis C virus, inflammation, combinatorial chemistry, proteomics, diabetes, monoclonal antibodies, the crystal structures of proteins, transgenic mice and vaccines. He also provided guidance to management in connection with patent issues arising in various licensing matters. Dr. Coppola helped defend several Merck patents or patent applications that became involved in interferences or European oppositions. Dr. Coppola was an associate for four years at the intellectual property law firm of Pennie & Edmonds where he prosecuted patent applications in the field of biotechnology for a variety of clients and was also active in the firm's interference practice. Prior to entering the field of law, Dr. Coppola earned a Ph.D. in molecular biology and conducted research in the area of oncogenes at Princeton University and Bristol-Myers Squibb. His work involved studying the relationship between oncogene expression and the differentiation and transformation of cells as well as structure/function studies of oncogene activation. He published the results of his research in journals such as Nature, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Molecular Biology, Oncogene, and Molecular and Cellular Biology. Dr. Coppola was a Damon Runyon-Walter Winchell Cancer Fund Fellow.

Mr. Prey received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Virginia and his Juris Doctorate degree from George Mason University. While working on his undergraduate degree, Mr. Prey did research in database systems, information retrieval, and distributed searching. He is a co-author of several technical papers including conference papers presented at SIGIR'98 and SIGIR'99, an international conference on information retrieval. For his research, he received the Undergraduate Research Award 1999-2000. At George Mason University, Mr. Prey completed the Patent Law Track, an intense concentration in intellectual property law, and was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society. While working on his law degree, he also did patent prosecution work as a law clerk at a Washington, DC area firm. Mr. Prey joined Kenyon & Kenyon as a summer associate in 2002 and is currently an associate in the New York office. Mr. Prey works primarily on patent litigation and his practice covers a range of technological fields, including: automotive systems, medical devices, digital cameras, computer software, and Internet-based business systems. Mr. Prey's work also includes advising clients on trade secret issues as well as providing non-infringement, invalidity, and unenforceability opinions.

Lawrence Frank joined Kenyon & Kenyon LLP in the fall of 2001. His practice includes patent litigation, client counseling, due diligence, opinions relating to validity and infringement, and patent prosecution in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Dr. Frank earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry at Columbia University and did post-doctoral research at Hoffmann-LaRoche and New York University. He studied fly oogenesis and embryogenesis using molecular biological, genetic, and biochemical techniques, and published his results in Development and Gene.
Lee Shelton joined Kenyon & Kenyon in 2005 as an associate in the New York Office. Mr. Shelton is a patent litigator who focuses mostly on the pharmaceutical and chemical sciences. Prior to joining Kenyon & Kenyon, Mr. Shelton worked at a New York intellectual property law firm where he obtained a broad experience in patent litigation, Hatch-Waxman litigation, interference practice and licensing. Matthew E. Moersfelder, based in the New York office, was a summer associate at Kenyon & Kenyon in 2005 and joined the firm as an associate in 2006. Sumit Bhattacharya joined Kenyon and Kenyon as an associate in 2002. During his time with the firm, Mr. Bhattacharya's has worked in the intellectual property areas of patent litigation, patent prosecution and trademark litigation. He has focused on the fields of microprocessor design, computer architecture and peripherals and internet applications. Thomas Huff, based in the Washington, DC office, joined Kenyon & Kenyon as an associate in 2006 after working as a summer associate in 2005. His practice focuses primarily on intellectual property litigation, with an emphasis on patents. Mrs. Remily joined Kenyon & Kenyon in 2005 from Burns, Doane, Swecker & Mathis, LLP, where she was an associate. Mrs. Remily counsels clients in all areas of patent law, including obtaining and enforcing patents, avoiding infringement, and conducting reissue and re-examination proceedings, as well as patent estate due diligence and development. Mrs. Remily focuses her practice in chemical patent matters, with an emphasis in rendering opinions relating to patentability, infringement, validity and freedom-to-operate issues in the pharmaceutical arts. She has also had experience with various aspects of the Hatch-Waxman Act. Much of her work has involved patent matters related to filings of Abbreviated New Drug Applications by generic drug manufacturers. She has also assisted clients in obtaining patent term extensions under 35 U.S.C. 156. In addition, Mrs. Remily has drafted opinions and patent applications in other technical areas including cosmetics, agrichemicals, polymers, rubber compositions, cement compositions, cigarettes, fine chemicals and medical devices. Her technical experience is in the area of chemistry, with an emphasis in organic chemistry and pharmaceuticals. Prior to attending Georgetown University Law Center , Mrs. Remily was a research chemist for Merck & Co., Inc., where her work involved the synthesis of pharmaceutical compounds, as well as combinatorial chemistry approaches for lead optimization and drug discovery. In graduate studies at the Johns Hopkins University , her research related to the synthesis of novel trioxane and artmisinin analogs as anti-malarial or chemotherapeutic agents. Mrs. Remily also received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double-major in Chemistry and Biology from Cornell University, where she worked as a research assistant in both the Chemistry Department and the Material Science and Engineering Department. Mrs. Remily is a member of the American Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Licensing Executives Society, American Chemical Society, and the Virginia State Bar Association.
