Mr. Roy obtained a B.Sc with Honours in Physics from the Universite du Quebec a Montreal in 1973, and a certificate in Meteorology from the same university in 1974. Mr. Roy started his career as a Meteorologist with Environment Canada in 1973, specializing in air pollutants diffusion. Mr. Roy joined Hydro-Quebec in 1975 where he has held various managerial positions. He has been active in the electric transportation sector at Hydro-Quebec since 1994. Since November 2002, he is Director Energy Systems for Electric Vehicles at IndusTech, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hydro-Quebec. He is responsible for the development of an integrated propulsion system for EVs using an electric drivetrain from TM4, a subsidiary of IndusTech, with a Lithium-Metal-Polymer battery from Avestor, jointly owned by Hydro-Quebec and Kerr-McGee. This development is conducted in partnership with car manufacturers: the first partnership is with SVE, a French consortium of Dassault and Heuliez groups. He is a member of the Board of the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA), based in Washington DC. He is Chair of the EV Association of Canada (EVAC), based in Ottawa.
