Dow Jones Description

Our company began on a cobblestone stretch of Cambridge St. in the Inman Square neighborhood of Cambridge, Mass. during the 1890s. Robert Joseph Fawcett (pictured here, second from right) founded Robert Fawcett Hay & Grain in 1894. During the 1920s, Fawcett shifted the company's focus in order to meet the growing demands of his customers. He soon became the city's largest coal dealer. The shift from coal to fuel oil during the 1940s marked the next major change for the company. Four generations have followed in their forebear's footsteps, while remaining true to their mission of keeping customers warm, informed, secure, and happy for more than a century.
