Kyphon Inc.

Richard W. Mott has served as our President and Chief Executive Officer and director since September 2002. From January 1998 through March 2002, Mr. Mott held several positions at Wilson Greatbatch Technologies, Inc., a developer of components for implantable medical devices, including Chief Operating Officer from December 2000 to March 2002 and Senior Vice President from January 1998 to November 2000. Mr. Mott holds a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.

Karen D. Talmadge, Ph.D. co-founded Kyphon and has served as a member of its board of directors since inception. She has also served as Kyphon's Chief Science Officer since June 2003 and as Executive Vice President since November 1998. From January 1994 to November 1998, Dr. Talmadge served as Kyphon's President, Chief Executive Officer and Treasurer. Dr. Talmadge is also on the board of the American Diabetes Association. She holds an A.B. in Biology from Bryn Mawr College and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Harvard University.

Maureen L. Lamb has served as our Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer since September 2006. Prior to joining Kyphon, she was Chief Financial Officer at Photon Dynamics, Inc. from May 2005 to September 2006. Prior to Photon Dynamics, Ms. Lamb held several senior financial management positions for eleven years at KLA-Tencor, one of the world's five largest semiconductor equipment companies, including serving as its Vice President of Finance from July 2000 to May 2005. Ms. Lamb received her Bachelor's degree in Government from Harvard College and her Masters in Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Robert E. Johnson joined Kyphon as Chief Compliance Officer in June 2006. Prior to joining Kyphon, he served as the Chief Compliance Officer for Chiron Corporation (now Novartis Vaccines & Diagnostics, Inc.). Mr. Johnson also worked for eight years for Sabre Holdings Corporation, where he created its first corporate compliance program, led its London legal department and served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President for its GetThere LP subsidiary in Menlo Park, California. He began his career as a commercial litigator with the Houston law firm of Baker Botts LLP. Mr. Johnson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude in American Studies and English from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his J.D. from The University of Virginia School of Law.

Alexandre M. DiNello has served as our Vice President, Research & Development since September 2006. Prior to joining Kyphon, he served as Vice President, Strategic Development and Research & Development at Johnson & Johnson, DePuy Spine from September 1998 to September 2004, as Vice President, Research & Development and Operations at OmniSonics Medical Technologies, Inc. from September 2004 to July 2005, and most recently as Vice President, Research & Development at Abbott Spine through September 2006. Mr. DiNello received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio.

Bradley W. Paddock has served as our Vice President, U.S. Sales since December 2004. From October 1999 through November 2004, he held positions with increasing responsibility in Kyphon's U.S. sales organization, including Director of Sales beginning in October 2002. From July 1996 through September 1999, Mr. Paddock worked in sales for Ethicon Endo-Surgery, a division of Johnson and Johnson that sells surgical instruments and devices to general, urological, gynecological and cardiovascular surgeons. Mr. Paddock holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Elizabeth A. Rothwell has served as our Vice President, Quality since February 2006, a position she also held from November 2002 through February 2003. Ms. Rothwell previously served in a temporary capacity as our Vice President, Research and Development from April 2005 until February 2006, and as our Vice President, Operations from February 2003 until April 2005. From September 1995 to April 2002, Ms. Rothwell was Vice President of Intercon, a contract-manufacturing firm. Ms. Rothwell holds a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University and an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

Frank P. Grillo has served as our Vice President, Strategy and Business Development since February 2006. Mr. Grillo joined Kyphon from Boston Scientific Corporation where he most recently held the positions of Vice President, Marketing, Women's Health, Urology/Gynecology Division from May 2002 through January 2006, and Vice President, Marketing, New Modalities, Urology Division from March 2000 through April 2002. Prior to his roles in Marketing, Mr. Grillo was the Director of New Business Development for the cardiology and drug delivery groups at Boston Scientific from September 1996 through February 2000. Mr. Grillo has an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University.

Julie D. Tracy has served as our Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Marketing since April 2005. Ms. Tracy previously served as Vice President, Marketing beginning in January 2003. From January 1998 to January 2003, Ms. Tracy held various positions with Thoratec Corporation, a developer of medical devices to treat cardiac diseases and vascular blood disorders, including Senior Director of Business Development and Reimbursement from May 2002 to January 2003, Senior Director of Marketing and Reimbursement from January 2002 to April 2002 and Director of Marketing from January 1998 to December 2001. Ms. Tracy holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Mary K. Hailey has served as our Vice President, Health Care Policy and Government Relations since October 2005. From February 2002 through September 2005, she served as our Vice President, Reimbursement. From October 1999 to February 2002, Ms. Hailey served as our Director of Reimbursement. From July 1997 to October 1999, Ms. Hailey was initially Third Party Relations/Reimbursement Manager and then Director, Third Party Relations/Reimbursement for Sulzer Spine-Tech, a manufacturer of orthopedic devices. From May 1983 to July 1997, she was a case manager and co-owner of Hailey & Heinrich, an occupational rehabilitation company. Ms. Hailey holds a B.S. in Vocational Rehabilitation from the University of Wisconsin.

Rick S. Kline has served as our Vice President, Operations since February 2006. From April 2005 through February 2006, he served as our Vice President, Operations and Quality. From January 1989 until April 2005, Mr. Kline held several positions at Wilson Greatbatch Technologies, Inc., a developer of components for implantable medical devices, including Plant Manager from January 2004 though April 2005, and General Manager from February 2001 though January 2004, both within the Medical Components Division. Mr. Kline holds a B.S. in Technology from the State University of New York, Saratoga Springs, and is a graduate of the Harvard University General Managers Program.

Mr. Marquardt has served as the Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory for Sanarus Medical since September of 2003. He has over 26 years in the medical device industry specializing in innovative novel medical technologies with expertise in clinical research, domestic and international regulatory affairs and quality systems. Mr. Marquardt has work experience in large public companies and privately held concerns; mergers and acquisitions, corporate development and strategic planning. Mr. Marquardt has served as a senior level staff member since 1993 in the medical device organizations of EP Technologies Inc., Boston Scientific Corp., UroQuest Medical Corp., Endovascular Solutions and Kyphon Inc. Prior to 1993 he held similar positions of increasing responsibility at Pfizer Inc. Schneider U.S. Stent Division and Medtronic Inc. Mr. Marquardt holds a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Minnesota.

Mr. England brings over 20 years of outstanding sales and marketing experience to his position as V.P. of Sales and Marketing. The vast majority of his background is based in the medical industry serving in sales/sales management and development positions with national companies such as Synthes, Osteotech, K2M and Kyphon. Prior to accepting his position with MediCepts Mr. England founded United Surgical Consultants Inc., a successful business specializing in the strategic business development of medical practices. Mr. England has also been involved in the initial fund raising and development of several start up companies in the medical industry. Mr. England received his Bachlor of Arts from High Point University in North Carolina.

William T. Barrick received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry/New Jersey Medical School and performed his orthopedic surgery residency at New England Medical Center. He is a member of the North American Spine Society and the International Spinal Injection Society, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (F.A.A.O.S.).
