Matthew D. Linnik, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, Executive Vice President of Research, and Assistant Secretary, joined the Company in 1998 as Director of Research and Development, was promoted to Vice President of Research in February 1999, to Executive Vice President of Research in June 1999 and to Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President of Research in 2002. He was appointed Assistant Secretary in 1999. Prior to joining the Company, from 1989 to 1998, Dr. Linnik served as Senior Pharmacologist, Scientist, Research Scientist and Project Leader for Hoechst Marion Roussel, formerly Marion Merrell Dow and Marion Laboratories, a publicly held pharmaceutical company. From 1996 to 1998, he also served as Adjunct Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. From 1986 to 1988, he served as Postdoctoral Fellow, then Instructor, in the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Linnik holds a B.A. in Physiology from Southern Illinois University and a Ph.D. in Physiology and Pharmacology from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

Michael Tansey, M.D., Ph.D., joined the Company in 2006 as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Tansey has more than 25 years of pharmaceutical industry experience where he has had increasing responsibility for all aspects of product development including global clinical development plans, clinical and medical operations, regulatory affairs, and post approval clinical marketing support. From 1996 until 2003, Dr. Tansey was Chief Medical Officer of Pharmacia and Upjohn and then Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Medical Development and a member of the Chief Executive's Operations Committee for Pharmacia Corporation. Prior to this, he worked at Hoechst AG, Rhone Poulenc Rorer, and Glaxo. After Pfizer's acquisition of Pharmacia, Dr. Tansey founded a consulting group, Competitive Drug Development LLC, and has since guided more than 12 companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia to optimize their development processes and plans. During this time, Dr. Tansey also worked part-time as Executive Director of Clinical Operations for a contract clinical research organization and as part-time CMO for NovaCardia, a biotechnology company. He is a member of the board of directors of invivodata Inc. and Vivometrics.

Stephen M. Martin, 56, has been a director of the Company since 2000. He currently serves as CEO Partner of Hi Tech Partners, LLC, a consulting firm for executive management of early stage technology businesses. He also serves as Managing Partner of Merritt Capital Services, a firm that assists entrepreneurs in finding venture capital. From January 1998 until June 2001, Mr. Martin served as Vice President of Venture Opportunities for CIBA Vision Corporation, a Novartis company engaged in the research, manufacture and sale of contact lenses, lens care products and ophthalmic pharmaceuticals, which he founded in 1980. From January 1995 to January 1998, Mr. Martin served as President of CIBA Vision Corporation USA and from October 1990 until January 1998, he served as President of CIBA Vision Ophthalmics-US, the ophthalmic pharmaceutical division of CIBA Vision Corporation. Mr. Martin served as a director of CareLinc Corporation, a privately held developer of clinical information management systems, from December 1997 to May 2000. Mr. Martin holds six issued U.S. patents for his inventions and a number of European patents. Mr. Martin holds a B.A. degree from Wake Forest University and attended the Woodrow Wilson College of Law.

Peter G. Ulrich, has served as an executive in the health care and biotechnology industry for over 30 years, including 8 years at Baxter HealthCare where he held domestic and international marketing management positions. He has over 16 years experience in CEO or senior management capacities in the biotechnology industry with companies including NeuroVir Therapeutics, La Jolla Pharmaceutical Co. and TargeGen. In conjunction with co-founding TargeGen Inc., Mr. Ulrich served as the first Entrepreneur in Residence for Forward Ventures and assumed the role of president & CEO of TargeGen, Inc. in March, 2002. TargeGen has attracted more than $110M in venture funding and is working on the development of four internally discovered drug candidates. TargeGen was named one of the top 100 venture backed companies in North America by Venture Reporter Magazine. TargeGen?s TG100-115 compound received the UCSD Connect ?Most Innovative Product of the Year Award? in 2004. Mr Ulrich was the recipient of the 2006 Ernst & Young ?Entrepreneur of the Year Award? in the emerging company category. Frank E. Young, M.D., Ph.D. has been a director since 2005. Dr. Young is a former Commissioner of the United States Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") and has had over a 40-year career in medicine, academia and government. After numerous academic appointments, Dr. Young served as Chairman of the Department of Microbiology and Professor of Microbiology, of Pathology, and of Radiation Biology and Biophysics at the University of Rochester, New York. Subsequently, he became Dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, Director of the Medical Center and Vice President for Health Affairs at the University of Rochester. Dr. Young joined the Department of Health and Human Services as Commissioner of the FDA and Assistant Surgeon General (Rear Admiral, USPHS) in 1984. Under Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and William J. Clinton, Dr. Young served as Commissioner of the FDA, Deputy Assistant Secretary and Director of the Office of Emergency Preparedness, Director of the National Disaster Medical System and as a member of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (presidential appointee). Dr. Young currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Cosmos Alliance and is a partner of Essex Woodlands Health Ventures. In addition, Dr. Young currently serves on the board of Golden Pond Healthcare, publicly held special purpose acquisition company and the boards of the following private companies: Agennix, Inc. and Elusys Therapeutics, Inc. Dr. Young attended Union College and holds an M.D. degree from the University of the State of New York, Upstate Medical Center, where he graduated cum laude, and a Ph.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University.

Martin P. Sutter is one of the two founding managing directors of Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, one of the oldest and largest healthcare focused venture capital firms with nearly $3 billion under management. Mr. Sutter has more than 30 years of management experience in operations, marketing, finance and venture capital. Mr. Sutter currently serves on the Board of Directors of BioForm Medical, LaJolla Pharmaceuticals, and LifeCell Corporation, which is in the process of being acquired by Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI). He formerly sat on the Board of Confluent Surgical, which was acquired by Tyco International; Rinat Neuroscience, which was acquired by Pfizer Inc.; and St. Francis Medical Technologies, which was acquired by Kyphon, Inc. Mr. Sutter is also responsible for the partnership's investment in Spinal Concepts, which was acquired by Abbott Laboratories.

Mr. Naini joined Frazier Healthcare shortly after inception in 1991 and has been a General Partner and served on the firm's management committee since 1995. Mr. Naini leads the firm's growth equity investment practice and continues to selectively invest in late stage biopharma and medical device companies. Historically, he has been involved with several of the firm's biopharma investments, including CV Therapeutics (NASDAQ: CVTX), Tularik (NASDAQ: TLRK) and ZymoGenetics (NASDAQ: ZGEN). More recently, Mr. Naini was the chairman of the board of Aspen Education Group (Aspeneducation.com) which was sold in November 2006 to Bain Capital sponsored CRC Corporation and served on the board of CHG Healthcare Services which was sold in December 2006 to JW Childs. He currently serves on the boards of Bariatric Partners Inc., Bravo by Elder Health, La Jolla Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: LJPC), Priority Solutions, Pentec Health and ZONARE Medical Systems. Prior to joining Frazier Healthcare, Mr. Naini was with Goldman Sachs & Co. and before that a researcher at the Wistar Institute. Mr. Naini received his M.B.A. from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and a B.A. in molecular biology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Engle was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 2007. With more than 25 years of executive leadership and biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry experience, his expertise spans the areas of therapeutic products, operations and corporate development. He previously served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company, a publicly-held biopharmaceutical company focused on the research and development of therapeutic products for autoimmune and antibody-mediated diseases. He joined La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company in 1993, became president and a director in 1994, CEO in 1995, and chairman of the board in 1997. Prior to joining La Jolla, he held executive-level positions at Cygnus Therapeutic Systems, a developer of drug delivery systems, and Micro Power Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of high technology products, including medical devices. He began his professional career with the Strategic Decisions Group and the Stanford Research Institute. Mr. Engle is a graduate of the University of Texas with BS and MS degrees in Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Adams is the Chief Technology Officer of Iris International, Inc., the company that acquired Leucadia Technologies in 2006 and is the founder and Chairman Emeritus of Genta, Inc., a publicly held biotechnology company in the field of antisense technology. From September 1998 to April 2006, Dr. Adams was chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer of Leucadia Technologies, a privately held company in the field of medical devices. From 1989 to 1997, Dr. Adams served as Chief Executive Officer of Genta, Inc. In 1984, Dr. Adams founded Gen-Probe, Inc., a publicly held company that develops and manufactures diagnostic products, and served as its Chief Executive Officer and Chairman until its acquisition by Chugai Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. in 1989. From 1980 to 1984, Dr. Adams was Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Hybritech, which was later acquired by Eli Lilly and Company in 1986. Dr. Adams has also held management positions at Technicon Instruments and the Hyland Division of Baxter Travenol, served as a director of Biosite Diagnostics, Inc., a publicly held medical research firm, from 1989 to 1998, Life Technologies, Inc. from 1992 to 2001, Invitrogen, Inc. a publicly held company, from 2001 to 2003, and Xenomics, Inc., a publicly held molecular diagnostics firm, from 2004 to 2005. Dr. Adams currently serves as a director of XiFin, Inc., a privately held application service provider focusing on the financial management needs of laboratories, and Iris International, Inc., a publicly held medical device company. Dr. Adams holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of California at Riverside.
