Dow Jones Description
Balanced Teams: Prior to the formation of teams in the competitive divisions (U-10, U-12, U-14) each child will be evaluated. Subsequently, each child is placed on a team, which contains a cross-section of talent. Our goal is to see that all teams are created equal. In the U-5, U-6 and U-8 Divisions, the Division Coordinators may try to form teams on a school or neighborhood basis in addition to attempting to balance the teams, as these Divisions are considered instructional and are therefore non-competitive. Because we are so careful about balancing teams, children who request changes after being assigned to a team can change team structures and drastically affect our careful balance. For this reason, we strongly urge that parents do not request a change of team assignment after the season begins. If there is a day your child is unavailable to practice, please advise us when you register so we can try to accommodate scheduling. Everyone Plays: A child who has been assigned to a team and is not under disciplinary suspension or injured is mandated the right to play at least one-half of every game. Positive Coaching: What makes winning kids is being built UP, not down! We train and encourage our coaches to make the extra effort to understand and offer positive help to our players, rather than negative criticism. We also request that all parents encourage all players with their sideline comments, and reinforce the positive actions of the children. ...
