These islands are cold, but Landbanki's business is hot. Founded in 1886 and headquartered in Reykjavik, Iceland, Landsbanki Islands Hf (Iceland: LAIS) is Iceland's oldest full-service bank. The bank is one of its country's top three banks, with 46 branches across Iceland. It offers retail banking, specialty insurance, and financing products, among others. It's subsidiaries are SP Finance, Heritable Bank, Landsbanki Luxembourg, and Landsbanki hf. The bank has annual revenue of about $ 1.6 billion and employs about 1,851 people. In 2005, it acquired Merrion Capital and Kepler Equities. In April 2006 the bank sold its entire investment in D. Carnegie & Co AB for approximately $286 million.
