Jay founded LMT along with Steve Clark with the goal of significantly enhancing the state-of-the-art in the application of quantitative methods in the realm of institutional trading. Prior to forming LMT, Jay and a partner founded DSP Development Corporation, LMT's sister company, which is a leader in engineering data analysis software. DSP's products have been selected by leading scientific laboratories around the world, as well as by the U.S. government for use in the new Patriot Missile systems. Also prior to LMT, Jay founded IMR, a company which developed innovative data-driven reasoning systems to assist management consultants in improving client operations and productivity across a range of industries. IMR was subsequently acquired by the largest professional services firm in the world. Prior to forming these companies, Jay worked as a strategy consultant for Bain & Company in Boston, and then as a Vice President of the Strategic Planning Institute in Cambridge, where he served the CEOs of a sizable roster of the largest industrial firms in North America and Europe. Jay set a national record by graduating from Carnegie-Mellon University with his MBA at age 18, as well as a triple B.S. degree in Mathematics, Economics and Industrial Management and a sub-concentration in foreign languages. While at Carnegie-Mellon Jay worked as a programmer for Computer Science Department faculty on NSF funded research projects. Jay is also presently enrolled in a graduate studies program at Harvard University in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics. Jay serves on the boards of Partners for Youth with Disabilities an organization he has served for over 10 years, and Zoo New England which encompasses Boston's Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo.
