Dr. Timothy Waters has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) since 1995. He joined McREL in 1993 following 23 years in K-12 education as a teacher, assistant principal, high school principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. In each of his professional roles, Tim has been acknowledged as an innovator and reformer. As superintendent he led a seven-year standards-based initiative that produced dramatic gains in achievement for all children and narrowed gaps between high and low achievers. Under Tim's leadership, McREL has become recognized as one of America's leading education research, development, and service organizations. McREL and three of its research reports were nominated for inclusion in the 2006 report Influence: A Study of the Factors Shaping Education Policy conducted by the research staff at Education Week. Tim is the author of numerous articles on educational leadership and co-author of School Leadership That Works: From Research to Results (ASCD, 2005) and District Leadership That Works: Striking the Right Balance (Solution Tree Press, 2009). He speaks nationally and internationally on the topics of leadership and the future of schooling.

Michael is an Associate Professor in the Lynch School of Education, a Senior Research Associate for the Center for the Study of Testing Evaluation and Educational Policy, and the Director of the Technology and Assessment Study Collaborative. Mike directs several projects, including the Diagnostic Algebra Assessment Project, the e-Learning for Educators Research and Evaluation Study, the On-Line Professional Education Research Study, a series of computer-based testing accommodation and validity studies. Mike is the founder and Chief Editor of the Journal of Technology, Learning, and Assessment. He has also been affiliated with the Center for the Study of Testing, Evaluation, and Educational Policy (CSTEEP) since 1994. His research interests lie at the intersection of technology, learning, and assessment and include applications of technology to testing and impacts of technology on students and their learning. In addition to his current research, Mike has conducted a series of randomized experiments that examine the impact of paper-based tests on the performance of students accustomed to writing on computers and has conducted several mixed methods studies that examine impacts of technology on teaching and learning.

Mr. Geisendaffer held management and executive positions for 32 years at R.G. Hobelman, Inc., where he was responsible for financial and operational functions of the company. Mr. Geisendaffer's experience lies in all facets of accounting and financial management. He is also an expert in computer-based accounting and financial systems. Mr. Geisendaffer joined Learning for Children in 2001 as a major investor and Chief Financial Officer.

Over the past six years, Jared has managed successful projects and teams in courseware development, multimedia programming, software design and development, sales, and web authoring. He has followed his Bachelors in business management with an MBA from Weber State University.

Karen Gallagher joined Brooks Rehabilitation as Vice President of Learning in 2005. Her responsibilities increased in 2008, when she was named Vice President Human Resources and Learning. Karen has over 20-years of experience as a Senior Executive in the areas of Human Resources, Management Consultancy, and Organizational Development. She has held positions with Johns and Associates as a Senior Consultant, Alltel Corporation as a Sr. Vice President in Human Resources, and Barnett Bank in a similar capacity.

Dr. Couret is committed to excellence in dentistry and understands the connection between oral health and the overall health of his patients. Dr. Couret enjoys providing his patients with a positive experience by improving their smile and confidence as well as their oral health. He has continued his education in cutting-edge studies of cosmetic and prosthetic dentistry, jaw and joint pain, headaches, snoring and the newest techniques in implantation. Dr. Couret has maintained an active practice in Merrimack, New Hampshire as well as serving Northeast Delta Dental as its Chief Dental Officer. He is a lifetime member of the American Dental Association and belongs to the American Association of Dental Consultants, New Hamshire Dental Society, Seacoast Implant Study Club, Nashua Dental Society and Nashua Study Club. Dr. Couret serves his community as a member of the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce, was involved in the preservation of Wheeler Chapel in Merrimack and is a past President of the Merrimack Rotary Club. He was honored by Rotary as a Paul Harris Fellow. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Daniel Webster Council of the Boy Scouts of America and is currently Vice President of the Exploring and Learning for Life programs. He has been recognized by the Boy Scouts of America with the William H. Spurgeon III and Silver Beaver awards. Dr. Couret was born in New York City and is fluent in French. He graduated from Fairfield University in Connecticut with a BS in Biology and earned his Dental Degree at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He lives in Merrimack with his wife Nancy Jamrog-Couret who is a music teacher, composer, organist and choir director. Dr. Couret is a grandfather which makes him an expert on Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and of course, the Tooth Fairy!

Nathan received a Masters degree in business and information systems management from the Marriott School at Brigham Young University. He developed a project management and digital content repository system for the university's Center for Instructional Design. His experience includes application development, business process redesign, and instructional design.

Gigi L. Johnson serves as General Manager of Studio 4 Kids (http://www.studio4kids.tv), where she is responsible for network strategic direction, educational content, program development, and establishment of distribution, marketing and creative partnerships. Ms. Johnson joined Studio 4 Kids a division of Studio 4 Networks in September 2007. Ms. Johnson has a diverse and comprehensive background in several fields, including media, education, and finance. With an MBA degree from UCLA's prestigious Anderson School of Management and a Cinema/TV Production degree from the University of Southern California, Ms. Johnson's education, experience and qualifications position her as an ideal candidate to lead Studio 4 Kids. Following graduation from UCLA Anderson, Ms. Johnson began her media finance career, serving more than a decade with Bank of America. Ms. Johnson spent the majority of her time there in its Entertainment/Media Corporate Banking practice. Ms. Johnson has a proven track record as a successful financial strategist, working with companies in high growth media sectors to finance and implement growth and transition plans successfully. Ms. Johnson most recently was president of Maremel Media, a family-oriented digital media producer and distributor of educational cable and broadband video shows for kids and tweens. Ms. Johnson also created live educational programs with local schools and community groups to educate teachers, parents, and students about Internet-based educational tools. She also produced family-oriented music, including Internet video and live concerts, as well as digitally distributed recordings. At its sister company, Maremel Ventures, Ms. Johnson was a strategic consultant for media and technology companies. In addition, Ms. Johnson continues to play an active role at UCLA Anderson, currently serving as a noted lecturer, as well as faculty director for the Global Entertainment Executive Program. Prior to her current roles at Anderson, Ms. Johnson served as UCLA Anderson's Executive Director of the Entertainment and Media Management Institute, leading all Institute activities, fostering new business relationships, and spearheading industry projects examining impacts of media technological change. She also serves on the advisory board of the Interactive Television Alliance and is a member of the Interactive Peer Group of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Ms. Johnson also is Senior Vice President of Studio 4 Networks, the parent company, and is General Manager of Studio 4 Learning, the company's educational network for middle school, high school, and early college learning enhancement tools.

In the world of design, Vicente Wolf has been at the top for over 30 years. From the spacious light-filled loft in New York City, where his company is headquartered, Wolf and his team build on his passion for design that's guided by integrity and simplicity. Armann moved to Atlanta and started practicing Floor-time based play in 2000. In addition to be being the co-founder of Learning on the Log, he has provided private play therapy for a number of clients. Armann has been involved in starting and running two metro-Atlanta school programs for children with developmental challenges and has extensive experience in developing and implementing physical and recreational therapy. Prior to moving to Atlanta Armann worked as a residential counselor for abused children and their families in Burlington Vermont. Armann holds a bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Vermont. He and his wife met during college and live in north east Atlanta.

Traditional training design, development and delivery methods are not keeping up with today's business environment. Bob Hubbard founded Kirkaldy Compass 1723 to help organizations << measurably improve >> employee effectiveness using lean six sigma and rapid training development. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt, specializing in profit improvement . Before founding Kirkaldy Compass, Bob served as Director, Learning & Development, at IKON University in Atlanta, Georgia There he introduced lean six sigma process improvements to IKON Curricula Design and Development, replacing 100% IKON Classroom Sales Training with e-Learning and Virtual Classroom curricula in 90 days. This action resulted in millions of dollars of annual savings in travel, lodging and related costs for IKON. Prior to IKON, Bob worked in the Customer Call Center division for Delta Air Lines. There, he adapted Lean Six Sigma tools to the transactional (non-manufacturing) environment, creating a "Visual Workspace". Teaming with fellow Black Belts, they conducted kaizen and 5S events to improve processes. He is the designer of the Studio Learning System , an innovative method to link economic performance to training and development. Bob is an accomplished facilitator and public speaker, specializing in transformational change. Before co-founding Learning on the Log in the fall of 2000 Chris has been involved in early intervention programs for children with autism and related disabilities since 1992. He served as the classroom coordinator and case manager of the Pre-K classroom at Emory University's Walden Early Childhood Programs. He also served as resource assistant at the Emory Autism Resource Center conducting research, supervising and training support teachers, evaluating children and working on developing language/interaction and increasing social skills. Chris served as the Program Coordinator for group based S.I. program at Speech Pathology Services for three years. He has worked as a home school instructor and therapist and as an aquatic swimming instructor for children with disabilities. Chris lives in Decatur along with his two daughters and his wife.

Dee is the retired CEO and founder of New Horizons for Learning, a nonprofit education network based in Seattle, Washington and on the Internet at www.newhorizons.org. She has been a school administrator and has taught on all levels from elementary school through university, has produced several series for educational television, and has produced nine international conferences on education.

The founder of Activities for Learning, Inc., Dr. Joan A. Cotter holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an AMI Montessori diploma for ages 3-6, a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from College of St. Thomas, Minnesota, (now University of St. Thomas) and an earned Ph.D. in mathematics education from the University of Minnesota. Joan worked as an engineer at Univac (now Unisys), resigning when her children were born. She taught her three children at home before and after school and during summer vacations. To help them learn their arithmetic, she devised card games that were published in her first book, Math Card Games: 300 Games for Learning and Enjoying Math. After starting a Montessori preschool, Joan taught in several Montessori schools and incorporated Suzuki violin and piano. She also taught mathematics in grades 6-8 and worked with children with learning disabilities. Dr. Cotter designed the double-sided AL Abacus and wrote RightStart Mathematics, a comprehensive K-4 mathematics program that incorporates visualization, the AL Abacus, and math card games. The RightStart curriculum is an outgrowth of her doctoral research. Having recently completed RightStart Geometric Approach for middle school, she currently conducts workshops and presents at conferences nationally and internationally. Jonathan Barkan is the founder and owner of Communications for Learning (CFL), a full-service communications firm based in Arlington, Massachusetts. He is multi-disciplined, with experience and education in strategic communications, mixed media production and direction, graphic and 3-D design, photography, sound recording, music, teaching, and consulting. His extensive experience includes project management and creative direction of video, slide, and desktop multi-media presentations, interactive and web-based media, events, print graphics, and exhibits. Barkan has consulted, designed, specified, and installed numerous multi-media theaters, classrooms and conference rooms, and has led media, photography and production workshops. Suggesting a new direction in his work, Mr. Barkan coordinated the marketing and sale of The Naylor Collection - The Complete History of Photography. Working with the collector, Jack Naylor, Barkan created award-winning presentation materials, initiated mass-media print and electronic media coverage, represented the collector in negotiations, and supervised the auction and sale of over 31,000 cameras, images, photographic technology, associated ephemera, and an extensive espionage collection. A college-level media instructor at The New England School of Photography for 12 years, Barkan was more recently on the faculty of the Simmons College (Boston) Master's in Communications Management Department leading the required course "Emerging Communications Technologies" and then "Managing Communications Media Projects." Over the years, he also has conducted numerous teacher training in-service and continuing education courses as well as public presentations. Barkan began his professional career in 1971 while still a graduate student when he produced a drug abuse prevention slide show and presentation kiosk for a methadone detox center in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Since establishing CFL upon completing graduate school in 1972, Barkan has guided a staff of creative professionals and consultants in a wide range of design and production efforts. Barkan's work on behalf of his clients focuses on a variety of areas, including: fund-raising; corporate identity; change and employee communications; public relations and investor relations; marketing and product promotion; public information; motivation and management development; health care; technological, environmental and historical awareness; and human services training. Principle clients have included The Gillette Company, Polaroid Corporation, The Boston Public Library, The Scottish Rite, and The Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Lisa Guerin is a Clinical Psychologist, a Master Certified Somatic Coach, a certified Trauma Specialist and an Advanced Certified Equine-Guided Educator. She also has a background in the Martial Art of Aikido and as a professional Musical Theater singer/dancer. She combines her skills in Clinical Psychology, Somatics, Martial Arts, performance and natural horsemanship to offer innovative approaches to healing Trauma, Addiction, Depression and Life transitions with an emphasis on a mind-body integration approach to healing. In the recent past, she has also served as a Supervisor for students in the Somatic Coach program at Strozzi Institute. She is the Founder and facilitator of the Instinctual Recovery TM Program, an Equine-assisted Learning and Psychotherapy process. This program utilizes the relationship and instincts of a horse to help clients tap into resources and intuition that had been wounded in traumatic or addictive experiences. Nicole Netelkos Goetchius is Mom to Loukas Alexander and owner of Om Baby Yoga. She is a certified Vinyasa Yoga instructor through the White Lotus Foundation and is a certified Prenatal Yoga teacher through Kripalu. She's also certified in Pilates Mat. She leads group adult and teen classes in Holmdel and children's classes in schools and libraries throughout New Jersey. She is a certified elementary school teacher and founder of Learning Through Movement, which teaches concepts through dance, music and art. She is a continuing yoga and dance student and is presently pursuing a Masters in Holistic Health at Georgian Court College. Nicole incorporates these words into her teaching philosophy. The job of an educator is to teach students to see vitality in themselves.

Susan L. Weiner, PhD, founded the Children's Cause for Cancer Advocacy (originally named The Children's Cause, Inc.) in 1999 to give voice to the concerns of childhood cancer patients, survivors and their families and empower them to take on leadership roles in pediatric cancer advocacy. Dr. Weiner, whose child was a 13-year cancer survivor, has been key in bringing childhood cancer to the forefront of the national cancer policy agenda. She worked as a childhood brain tumor and children's disability advocate for many years before establishing CCCA. Her work includes service on numerous national boards and committees including the TARGET Subcommittee of NCI's Board of Scientific Advisors, Brain Tumor Funders' Collaborative, Children's Brain Tumor Foundation, and the Secretary's Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections. Dr. Weiner is also the founder of the Mary McDowell Center for Learning, an independent school in New York City for children with learning disabilities.

Tofah Eileen Yragui MA, MFT, received her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from JFK University in 1991. Two years later she graduated from the Process Therapy Institute with a specialization in the use of "Process" as a therapeutic tool. Tofah Eileen has been a psychotherapist in private practice since 1994. She specializes in couple's therapy, work with trauma and grief, and psychosomatic issues. Tofah's work with couples is from a process orientation so that she guides clients into an enactment of the issue and then helps to bring conscious awareness and a new decision to the interactions. As a somatic specialist she works with the way trauma can linger in the body for a lifetime in symptoms from anxiety to unexplained physical pain. Tofah Eileen is an ordained interfaith minister and serves as a Sheikha for the local Sufi community and the Sufi Movement International. She facilitates a variety of spiritually oriented activities including leading the Dances of Universal Peace, Zhikr, a group on women's spirituality, and a regular healing service. Tofah with her husband Jay, is a co-founder of The Garden and The Garden Center for Complementary Healing which is a multidimensional facility which has operated since the year 2000 and offers the community a gathering place for Celebration, Learning and Healing.

Liz is the Managing Partner and Senior Consultant of Vitalwork, Inc., a 20-year old Learning and Development firm that specializes in employee engagement. Liz has a BS in Marketing from Michigan State University and an MBA (Marketing emphasis) from Wayne State University. Prior to joining Vitalwork in 2002, Liz had nine years of experience in the corporate world with time split between Global Crossing and Electronic Data Systems (EDS). She is a member of Vistage, the world's largest CEO organization. She is also a certified Crucial ConversationsTM facilitator. Prior to joining the Bivona team, Liz was a Junior Achievement volunteer, teaching first through third graders. Mark Anderson is responsible for implementing the corporate vision for eLogic Learning including the day-to-day operations. As a founding partner of eLogic Learning, Mr. Anderson manages the company's growth strategy via consistent, profitable business model delivering advanced products and focused on current customer care and satisfaction. He began his career over 20 years ago as a CPA with Price Waterhouse, advancing into corporate financial planning and merger and acquisition engagements for rapidly growing companies. He has extensive experience in business modeling, corporate finance and capital structure, contract negotiations, operations management, and executive level administration. He is also a founding member of the executive management team of the Tampa Bay Lightning, a National Hockey League franchise. As a CFO and member of the Executive Committee, Mark Anderson assisted in the growth of Crown Marketing Group from $5 million to $45 million in revenues over a three-year period. He received a B.S. in accounting from Florida State University and is active in community, civic and business associations.

Adam Merrill is Director of E-Learning for Franklin Covey. He has been with that organization for over twelve years. He has served in a variety of positions including development, consulting, and strategic planning. He was central to the development of Franklin Covey's Empowered Learning Model (ELM), the core framework that guides learning implementations for clients. He enjoys technology and is an advocate of using learning to improve organizational performance. He has been published and cited in a number of magazines and online journals. Adam graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Philosophy from Brigham Young University. He earned his Masters of International Management (MIM) degree, with Distinction, from Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management.

Charla Hutchinson is the Assistant Director of A Bridge to Learning Inc. and the on-site supervisor of the North Carolina office. She is a masters candidate at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in special education. She has been directing treatment with Caryn Mello-Kennedy since August of 1998.

Guenever Pachent is currently Service Director for Culture, Information, Inclusion and Learning in the Adult Care & Community Services Directorate of Suffolk County Council. She has extensive working experience in areas of libraries, archives, museums and local government. She is involved with the 2005/07 Cultural Pathfinders Programme in Suffolk - one of a dozen national projects - which links museums, libraries and archives to the wider arts and leisure sectors.

Ian Harford has been director of an action research community project on Tyneside and Northwest Regional Manager of the Workers' Educational Association - a national voluntary provider of adult community learning (ACL). He has since the early 1990s actively promoted the use of information and learning technologies in the WEA's work. He is now consultant director of the Greater Manchester Community Grid for Learning (http://www.learners.org.uk) and provides consultancy services to the ACL sector. He is completing a comparative research study, Digital Nations in the Making, on the use of newtechnologies in ACL in North America and the UK

Lisa Pirinelli-Dubuc serves as the interim MERLOT project director for the SUNY Teaching, Learning, and Technology program, and has served as the Coordinator of Distance Learning at Niagara County Community College and part-time instructor for the Digital Media Program for the past 9 years. She also teaches online for the Buffalo State College Master of Science in Educational Computing Program. Lisa holds an MS.ED in Educational Computing from the State University of New York-Buffalo State College

Susan joins brings to DL clients significant experience in school finance. She worked with Edison Schools, Inc. for the last 5 years in Business Services and Financial Management. Her most recent position was serving as Manager of Area Financial Management, Site Implementation. This position required Susan to oversee Financial Management for the Midwest , manage client relationships, as well as operations management. In addition to working for Edison Schools, Inc., Susan has experience in working at a legal and accounting firm, small businesses and schools. As Director of Finance for Designs for Learning, Susan oversees Financial Management for all of our Finance & Accounting clients. Managing and cultivating client relationships, as well as internal and external operations management are primary roles. She works closely with Directors and Boards and monitors "pulse points" monthly at the sites to foresee any issues and help find solutions as problem arise.

James S. Byron is a Manager of Learning and Organizational Effectiveness for Pfizer Inc. He has a masters degree in Organizational Psychology and over 20 years of experience in leading organizational and personal performance improvement projects. Jim has worked with every organizational level across several industries, including the world's largest pharmaceutical, chemical and financial services organizations. Specializing in productivity improvement, Jim has expertise in accomplishing large-scale organizational change, organizational performance assessment, leadership and employee development, employee involvement and teaming, and high performance organization development. Projects led by Jim have consistently produced an impressive range of bottom line results with ROI's of 10:1 to 21:1 in addition to dramatic improvements in morale, climate, and employee involvement.

Lori Maki is Corporate Manager of Learning and Organizational Development with a major telecommunications company. Upon joining the organization almost two years ago, she has been responsible for the launch of the organizational development and learning function for the entire employee population of over 2,500. Lori has been a learning and development professional for over 10 years, holding a B.A. in Psychology. She has worked in corporate, retail and academic environments, and was a founding board member of The Literacy Place, an organization in Massachusetts for adults who want to learn how to read and write.

Roshini Poonnen is Manager, Finance at 24x7 Learning. Her role covers the functions of Finance, Accounts and Administration - spanning areas like audits, designing and implementing policies and control procedures, and ensuring process, legal and statutory compliance. She is also responsible for working capital management, budgeting and treasury functions. She is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. In 2005 she passed CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor Examination) conducted by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, Illinois, USA. Roshini has over 8 years of experience in the field of Corporate Finance. During her stint at Precot Mills Limited she handled Financial Planning and Management, Forex Risk Management and was instrumental in designing and implementing policies and procedures in the Finance Function to facilitate Internal Financial Control. She also handled Working Capital and Consortium Lender Management that involved Liaising and negotiating with banks and financial institutions for short term and long term funding requirements. Roshini played a key role in liaising and concluding the recent round of investments at 24x7 Learning. She has internally been recognized with the 'Shooting Star of the Quarter', an award recognizing exemplary work measured for a quarter. Roshini is an amateur artist. She is also trained in classical music and plays the Veena.

Andrew leads DEGW's world-wide research and methods activities, carrying out a range of multi and single client research projects. Andrew is directing DEGW's current research project, Sustainable Accommodation in the New Economy, a two year, EC funded, 5.5 million project exploring the future of the European workplace. Andrew also leads DEGW's activities with Learning Environments clients, including the London School of Economics and the Higher Education Funding Council.

Catherine Crutchley is the part time administrator for the Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Programme and MA in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. Catherine has worked at Keele since 2005 and has a background in administration working with the private sector and NHS.

Diana Jackson is Principal Investigator and Co-Director of Learning-Work Connection. With more than 20 years of experience in public education, Diana has been a high school teacher and a local School-to-Work coordinator. She has a B.S. in education and an M.A. from Miami University. Among the books on her office bookshelf are Horace's Hope by Ted Sizer and Peace is Every Step by Thich Nhat Hanh. You can find them right under the anime posters.

Ms. Diane Boyer is the Executive Assistant to Ms. Lisa Olson, Director of Teaching, Learning and Technology. She assist Ms. Olson with a multitude of duties including curriculum and instruction, assessments, professional development and project reporting. She also is the Administrative Assistant for the Hartford Area School Consortium by providing support for the curriculum development and assessment for the K-8 schools. Ms. Boyer has recently started her career at HUHS in July of 2008. Her prior experience includes working in the West Bend School District at the high school level and Hartford Jt. #1 School District at the elementary level as the Administrative Assistant to the Principal.

Elliott Masie heads the MASIE Center, a Saratoga Springs, New York-based think tank focused on how organizations can support learning and knowledge within the workforce. He leads the Learning CONSORTIUM, a coalition of 230 Fortune 500 companies cooperating on the evolution of learning strategies. He is the editor of Learning TRENDS and a regular columnist in professional publications. He is the author of a dozen books, including the recently published Learning: Rants, Raves and Reflections. Elliott is the convener of Learning 2006, an international conference based in Orlando, Florida. In addition, he serves as an advisor to a wide range of government, education, and non-profit groups and on the board of trustees of several colleges and national organizations.

Eva Travers is a collaborating scholar for Learning from Philadelphiaa s School Reform and involved in ongoing research by Research for Action on the diverse provider model and other system-wide school reforms currently being implemented in Philadelphia. She has recently retired from Swarthmore College, where she taught urban education and education policy. In addition, she held a number of administrative positions, including director, Program in Education, and associate dean. She has served on a variety of national working groups and task forces looking at issues of teacher preparation and teacher education.

Ian Stuart has been on Islay since 2002. He is an engineer to training with a passion for both Learning and Teaching. He is one of the leaders in Islay High Schools transformation over the last 5 years from 'bog standard' secondary to Learning and Teaching Scotland's 'School of Ambition' 2008.

Janet's background is in careers education and guidance, which has led to working in a range of education support services, including careers organisations, Further and Higher Education settings. Before moving to Wiltshire, Janet managed the Careers Education and Advice services for students in a Nottinghamshire College. Since then she has worked for the Open University Student Services, where Janet supported them to achieve the Matrix Standard for Information Advice and Guidance services. As well as working for the WVLLN, Janet also works at the University of Bath as Widening Participation Officer for Work-based Learning, raising awareness and understanding of work-based learning to a range of groups including both employers and employees. Janet's passion is travel, and having recently visited China and Thailand, would like to explore SE Asia further!

Johanna Ponce was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. After studying high school in a boarding school in Middleburg, Virginia, she moved back to Ecuador to pursue a career in Tourism Management. While working in a family business and studying, Johanna had the wonderful opportunity to work as an English Teacher in an all girls school as a First Grade teacher. She loved it so much; she decided to finish her degree in Management, while working in the school. She decided her true passion was in teaching, so she came to the U.S. four years ago to obtain an AA in Early Childhood Education, which she did. She lives in Miami with her daughter Maia. Johanna has been a teacher in The Joy of Learning since March 2006.

Kit joined Mr. Causey in 1989, following several years of workers' compensation with another firm. Since joining us, Kit has been involved in literally every aspect of the operation of Causey Law Firm and its predecessor firm. In addition to her paralegal work, she serves as office manager and is the administrator of our computer network, including the design and upkeep of our unique client database. Kit served on the Board of Directors of Professionals in Workers' Compensation, a non-profit organization that promotes professionalism in all aspects of workers' compensation, for seven years, ending after a two-year term as President (2002-2003). Kit has also been involved with education outside of PWC, taking part in panel discussions through the Washington State Labor Council and as part of the annual conference of the Washington State Office of the Attorney General's DLI Division. Life pulls Kit in many directions. She and her teen-aged daughter, Tawny, try to squeeze time from their busy days to play. In the summer months, they like to hike and camp. In the winter, look for them on the trails wearing snowshoes or cross country skis or barreling down a hill on an inner tube.

Marcia Mentkowski received her BA from Downer College of Lawrence University and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in educational psychology. A former elementary school teacher, she was tenured on the undergraduate and graduate faculty (masters and doctoral) at the University of Toledo (1968 75). Because of her research and curriculum development in moral development and education, she was invited as a visiting scholar at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1975 and then a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in psychology in 1976. Dr. Mentkowski is currently professor of psychology and director of the educational research and evaluation department at Alverno College where she serves as the Director of Educational Research and Evaluation, Professor of Psychology and Chair of the Research and Evaluation Council at Alverno College. Mentkowski initiated Alverno's approaches to educational research and institutional assessment in 1976, including the Alverno longitudinal research, the validation of performance assessment, and evaluation of major fields. In addition, Mentkowski serves on Alverno's Educational Policies Committee and is a long-standing member of Alverno's Council for Student Assessment. Alverno is a member in the Valuing in Decision-Making Department and has served on Alverno's Curriculum Committee. Dr. Mentkowski is principal author of Learning That Lasts: Integrating Learning, Development, and Performance in College and Beyond.

Mariaemma Pelullo-Willis, M.S. is an educational consultant and Learning-SuccessTM Coach. She holds a Masters Degree in Education and California Life Teaching Credentials for Regular and Special Education. She has been teaching, developing educational programs, and conducting workshops for parents and teachers for more than 20 years. Mariaemma helps homeschooling families customize the curriculum to fit students' individual needs and interests. She has worked with thousands of children and parents, as well as home schooling families and classroom teachers, assessing Learning Styles, diagnosing school problems, designing customized curriculum plans, and teaching techniques and strategies that help children learn. She is the author of What To Do When They Don't Get It and Homeschooling the Child With "Learning Problems"; co-author of A Self-PortraitTM Learning Style System and Discover YourChild's Learning Style; and co-founder of the Learning-SuccessTM Institute.

Marisol Hartley is the Program Officer for Program Resources and Learning. In this position, she is responsible for coordinating, collecting and disseminating information related to the integrated program framework and programming strategies and supporting the Vice President for PR&L and IPFT. Marisol also worked for CARE's Human Resources Division where she served as Staffing Assistant and as HR Database Coordinator. Prior to joining CARE, Marisol worked for the Panama Canal Commission (currently known as the Autoridad del Canal de Panama) in the Republic of Panama for over 13 years. Marisol has a MS in Management from Troy State University, USA. She is originally from the Republic of Panama.

Mary Ellen Maunz brings 35 years of Montessori experience to the Board, in the field of teaching and administrating as well as training teachers and consulting. She holds a BA in Child Development, an MA in Integrative Education and Montessori teaching credentials at the early childhood and elementary 6-12 levels. Her three children, now grown, were all Montessori educated. She served for ten years on the Board of Directors and the Commission for Accreditation for MACTE, the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education, the organization that accredits Montessori teacher training programs in the United States and abroad. Mary Ellen is a well known presenter at national educational conferences and has conducted lecture tours here in the US, in South America, Europe and Asia. She is the lead author of Learning to Read is Child's Play.

Dr. Conrad is an online faculty member for the Master's degree program in Instructional Systems Design with a major in Open and Distance Learning at Florida State University in Tallahasse, FL. She is author of Engaging the Online Learner and co-author of A Faculty Guide to Moving Teaching and Learning to the Web.

Robert Bowker is a well-known singer, conductor, composer, arranger and producer. In the classical world, he has appeared as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony, the Grant Park Symphony, and the Rockefeller Chapel choir at the University of Chicago. He has been a member of the Robert Shaw Festival Singers and has performed as chorister in fourteen Carnegie Hall Choral workshops under the late Mr. Shaw. His non-classical work has includes singing and contracting for pop and jazz recordings, film scores, industrials, and thousands of commercials. He is co-author of Learning to Sing Non-Classical Music, published by Prentice Hall. His compositions also reflect his eclectic

Sally A. Hanzlik is currently an Assistant Principal at Emmaus High School in the East Penn School District located in suburban northeastern Pennsylvania . She also serves as the Principal of Learning To Succeed (LTS), the district's evening alternative education program. Sally graduated from Kutztown University and Lehigh University with a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership. She holds PA certificates in 7-12 Social Studies, K-12 Principal, and Supervisory in Curriculum and Instruction. She served the school community as a social studies teacher and the student assistant coordinator. Sally volunteers her time in the local community as a member of the Community Justice Panel and Lehigh County Historical Society.

Steve Zemelman has helped to start a number of small, innovative schools in Chicago and consults on literacy instruction across the country. Formerly, he directed the Center for City Schools at National-Louis University. Zemelman is co-author of numerous professional books on teaching, including Best Practice: Today?s Standards for Teaching and Learning in America?s Schools (with Harvey Daniels and Arthur Hyde); Subjects Matter: Every Teacher?s Guide to Content Area Reading (with Harvey Daniels); and History Comes Home: Family Stories Across the Curriculum (with Pat Bearden, Pete Leki, and Yolanda Simmons).

Sue Molyneux is a Human Resources Consultant with a full range of expertise in all aspects of Human Resources including Compensation, Learning and Development, Career & Succession Planning, Policies and Procedures and Recruitment & Selection. Ms. Molyneux works with companies to align the people side of a business with the goals and objectives of the organization. Her expertise includes designing executive compensation plans and organizational and change management strategies that result in increased retention, productivity, morale and ultimately shareholder value. She has worked in a broad range of industries including manufacturing, financial services, consumer goods and services, technology, energy management and construction and contracting. Ms. Molyneux holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Sociology from University of Toronto along with a Certificate in Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University.

Tracey is the module leader for Teaching and Learning. She is the Quality Assurance Manager for the course. She is a deputy head at the lead school with responsibilities in leading learning in Key Stage 2.

Cathy Lewin is a Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her research interests concern young people and ICT, particularly the uses of technology to link home and school, the tensions and overlaps between formal and informal learning with ICT, how technological developments (eg Web 2.0, hand held devices) can disrupt and change social practices, and the implications of these for formal education. She has conducted research for Becta, DCSF, ESRC and European Schoolnet including Gridclub, ImpaCT2, ICT TestBed, and the Evaluation of the Primary Schools Whiteboard Expansion Project. Most recently she has directed a project on models of online learning at Key Stage 3 and 14-19 for Becta. She is currently engaged in a range of projects including a synoptic evaluation of learner response systems (which facilitate text responses as well as voting) in Higher Education. She is Editor of the Routledge journal Learning, Media and Technology, now in its 33rd volume.

Christine Gable is a professional writer and recipe developer whose work has appeared in numerous periodicals. A contributing editor for Learning Through History magazine and weekly columnist for CDKitchen, Christine also writes for Hybrid Cars & Alternative Fuels at About.com in partnership with her husband, Scott. Christine became a member of the Brave Writer team in 2007. With ten years of homeschooling experience, Christine lives with Scott and their children, Adrian and Jenny, in Lancaster, PA. When not researching, writing or developing recipes, she loves to read, hike, ride bikes and hang out with family.

Dr. Sara Armstrong has been an educator for nearly 30 years, 17 of which were spent in the classroom. She participated in her first telecommunications project in 1980. Through that experience, Dr. Armstrong was impressed with two major ideas: the fact that her students could be in meaningful communication with students they would never have had the chance to meet in person, and that this kind of interchange could alter how students learn and participate in classroom work. Dr. Armstrong's doctoral work in the philosophy of education allowed her time to explore current ideas of educational practice and technology integration into curricula. Her dissertation, "Metaphors of Learning and Teaching," has provided the basis of one area of her consulting work. She has been a speaker at numerous conferences, including CUE (Computer-Using Educators), NECC (National Education Computing Conference), ASTE (Alaska Society for Technology in Education), the California Math Council conference, NSDC (National Staff Development Council), and IRA (International Reading Association). She has also worked extensively in creating staff development efforts for school districts, county, regional, and statewide groups. Her topics include multiple intelligences and educational technology; information literacy in the age of communications; teaching, technology and storytelling; early literacy and technological resources; parents, public libraries, and Internet resources; developing rubrics for evaluating online resources; ThinkQuest resources as models for staff development and instruction; and evaluation and assessment as guiding practices. Dr. Armstrong is the author of a number of publications, including Telecommunications in the Classroom (ISTE, 1995), Internet for Kids (contributing author, Sybex, 1995), A Pocket Tour of Kidstuff on the Internet (Sybex, 1996), The Internet for Your Kids (co-author, Sybex, 1996), NetSavvy: Information Literacy in the Communications Age (co-author, The NetSavvy Group, 1998), and is the editor of Edutopia: Success Stories for Learning in the Digital Age (Jossey-Bass, 2002). Dr. Armstrong completed three elected terms on the Board of Directors of CUE (Computer-Using Educators), where she served as President for two years. She also serves on the Bay Area Storytelling Festival Committee, the Boards of Directors of the National Storytelling Network, Global SchoolNet Foundation, and the Center for Accessible Technology, as well as the CTAP Region 4 Advisory Council, and the IRA Technology, Communications, and Literacy Committee. Professor of Educational Psychology at Murdoch University in Western Australia . Former Dean of Education (2000-2003). Research interest includes the integration of cognitive, motivational and social aspects of learning in university and other adult learning settings; self-regulated learning and metacognitive instruction; metacognitive processes in learning and problem-solving; cognitive, motivational and social issues related to group work at university; learning across diverse cultural-educational contexts; motivational, emotional and social issues related to international students' learning; and internationalisation of higher education curricula. She currently serves as Associate Editor of Learning and Instruction and is President of the Educational, Instructional and School Psychology Division of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP). She was the recipient of the first "Outstanding Publication Award" of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI, 1997). She has published numerous book chapters and articles in international and national peer-refereed journals and co-edited a book in the EARLI Series Advances in learning and Instruction, Motivation in Learning contexts: Theoretical advances and methodological implications (Elsevier, 2001).

Mr. Pritchard was appointed President and CEO of Aspen Surgical Products Holdings, Inc. in September 2006. Prior to joining RoundTable Healthcare Partners, Mr. Pritchard spent 24 years in healthcare management with American Hospital Supply, Baxter International, Allegiance Healthcare and Cardinal Health during which time he held positions of increasing responsibility. From 1994-2000, he was President of the Midwest region for U.S. Distribution; in 1996 to 1999, he also served as an original corporate officer of Allegiance Healthcare. From 2001-2004, he lead the respiratory care business of Cardinal Health. During that period, they bought and integrated the $70 mil Critical Care Concepts (3CI) business. Mr. Pritchard serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Condell Memorial Hospital, as well as Chairman for the District 128 Foundation for Learning. Mr. Pritchard received his B.A. from Duke University in 1980.

Most recently, Anil headed the global outsourcing business of AT&T Wireless until its acquisition by Cingular Wireless [NYSE:SBC], and managed over $200 million of outsourced services portfolio. Previously, Anil was the Founding CEO of AristaSoft Corporation, a pioneering ASP, where he provided the founding vision, start-up capital and business leadership. Under Anil's leadership, AristaSoft grew from a startup staff of 2 to over 300 employees within 2 years, expanded the executive team and raised over $100 million in investments from marquee investors. Prior to starting AristaSoft, Anil spent several years at Wipro [NYSE:WIT] and managed its business operations in US. During his tenure, Wipro grew to over $100 million in revenues. He built many multi-million dollar profitable outsourcing relationships with companies such as Allied Signal, Xerox, Seagate and Nortel. Barbara Allan is Director of Learning and Teaching at the University of Hull Business School. Barbara enthusiastically supports women's management development through a range of innovative initiatives. The successful EMPATHY Net-Works project encouraged women to enter the logistics and supply chain industries through a taught programme and also e-mentoring by experienced women managers. In the past ten years, she has been involved in a wide range of national and regional e-learning and e-mentoring initiatives including EMPATHY and EMPATHY-EDGE.

As the Director of Learning in our Medina Learning Center, Brandi is responsible for the implementation and oversight of each student's unique tutoring/learning plan. Brandi works with all of our students and ensures that our staff achieves the desired goals and objectives of both our parents and students. Brandi joined KnowledgePoints as a tutor in our Brunswick office. She accepted the position as our Medina Director of Learning in the fall of 2008. Prior to joining KnowledgePoints, Brandi was a Center Director for the Head Start program sponsored through Community Action of Wayne and Medina Counties. Brandi also taught in the Brunswick and Cleveland Schools. Brandi received her B.S. in Education from Baldwin Wallace, with a concentration in Early Childhood. She is currently enrolled in a Masters of Education program with a concentration in Special Education. Brandi is a native of Medina, having attended Medina High School. She and her family reside in the Medina community, where they can be seen at many of the local sporting events.

As the Director of Learning in our Brunswick Learning Center, Carla is responsible for the implementation and oversight of each student's unique tutoring/learning plan. Carla works with all of our students and ensures that our staff achieves the desired goals and objectives of both our parents and students. Carla joined KnowledgePoints as a tutor in our Brunswick Learning Center in the winter of 2007 and became Director of Learning in our Parma Learning Center in the summer of 2007. Carla is now back in Brunswick as our Director of Learning. Prior to joining our staff, Carla enjoyed a successful 30-year career in the Cleveland Municipal School District as a Special Education teacher. During her career she worked with children having a variety of special needs. She was a frequent speaker on addressing the needs of special needs children and was the Department Chairperson at Margaret Spellacy Middle School. Carla received both her B.S. in Special Education and Masters in Curriculum Instruction for Students with Learning Disabilities and Behavioral Disorders from Cleveland State University.

Elaine Edgcomb has been Director of the Aspen Institute microenterprise Fund for Innovation, Effectiveness, Learning and Dissemination (FIELD) since 1998. She co-authored, with Joyce Klein, Opening Opportunities, Building Ownership: Fulfilling the Promise of Microenterprise in the U.S. (2005), an examination of the state of the U.S. microenterprise industry after its first 20 years. She has also authored or co-authored numerous other publications for FIELD, including Scaling up Microenterprise Services, The Informal Economy: Latino Enterprises at the Margins and The Informal Economy: Making It In Rural America, and Improving Microenterprise Training and Technical Assistance. Ms. Edgcomb is also the author and editor of works on evaluation practice, institutional development, financial analysis, and on microenterprise strategies implemented both internationally and in the United States. Previously, she served as the founding Executive Director of the Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network, an association of more than 50 U.S. and Canadian nonprofit organizations that support small business and microenterprise development in the developing world. As a consultant to the Aspen Institute's Self-Employment Learning Project, she had principal responsibility for guiding the project's case study research on organizational strategies and issues in U.S. microenterprise. Ms. Edgcomb's international experience includes work with Catholic Relief Services, where she directed the planning and evaluation of socioeconomic development and relief programs in 13 countries in Central America and the Caribbean. With more than 25 years in international development, she has experience in monitoring and evaluating microenterprise programs, training management staff, and in developing practitioner-oriented materials to support program implementation. She serves or has served on the Board of Directors of the SEEP Network, Pro Mujer International and the Association for Enterprise Opportunity. Ms. Edgcomb holds a Master's Degree in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University and a B.A. in History and Spanish from Seton Hall University.

Gary Wiren is a golf educator, a Master member of the Professional Golfers Association of America and a former national PGA staff director. He is a graduate of Huron University in South Dakota with a master's degree from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. He was a collegiate conference golf champion and winner of long-drive contests. Wiren is a past board member of the National Golf Foundation, the American Junior Golf Association and the Children's Golf Foundation. He has written or participated in the writing of over 200 magazine articles and 11 books. His latest, "When Golf Is a Ball," was selected as the "best golf book in the year 2004." He has 13 film credits, four videos on the market including the award-winning, "The Fascinating World of Golf," and has taught, privately, in groups, at seminars and stage performances, over 250,000 people in 34 countries. Wiren was featured on ESPN's "How to Play Your Best Golf," and also "Par for the Course," was carried weekly in Japan on his own TV show, and can now be seen on the Golf Channel's "Preserving the Game." He is a three-time national winner of the Golf Collectors' Society wooden-shafted tournament and one of its premier collectors, has won the South Florida Seniors PGA title, the South Florida long-driving championship, played in the USGA Sr. Open and the PGA Sr. Championship, was six years on the Golf Digest professional panel, and is on the Golf Digestselection panel for the 100 Greatest Courses.

Gord Lambert is vice president, sustainable development. In this role, Gord directs Suncor’s environment, health and safety policies and works with senior management and external stakeholders to align and improve the company’s long-term financial, social and environmental performance. Prior to assuming this role in July 1997, Gord spent two years as director, sustainable development for TransAlta Corporation and 15 years with Imperial Oil in various roles including EHS, planning and marketing. He is involved with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development in support of its work on energy, climate change and sustainable development within the business community. He is currently on the boards of the Suncor Energy Foundation and Learning for a Sustainable Future (LSF). From 2003 - 2009 he was a Canadian representative on the Joint Public Advisory Committee to the U.S., Canadian and Mexican Environment Ministers under NAFTA (The Commission for Environmental Cooperation). Gord is a graduate of the Ivey School of Business (Western) Executive Program in 1996. He is a current member and past director/treasurer of the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists. Gord graduated in 1980 from the University of Guelph with an honours bachelor of sciences degree majoring in biological science with a minor in economics.

Karen Coffey is Matthew Ferrara & Company's Director of Learning. Her responsibilities include running a department that delivers an average of 100,000 minutes of online training and dozens of onsite workshops nation wide every month. Karen manages the training and deployment of the latest technologies for some of our largest clients, including Cendant, Coldwell Banker, Century 21, ERA and Sotheby's International Realty. Karen's background includes more than 20 years in the corporate and personal travel industry. Prior to starting her own travel operation, Karen was the National Training Specialist for the largest credit card processing company in the country. She has served as President of the N.E. American Society of Travel Agents, the President of her local Chamber of Commerce, and President of NH Women and Travel. Karen has visited more than 25 countries across the globe. Karen has been certified to facilitate Integrity Coaching and Integrity Selling .

Kim Wells is Director of Learning and Teaching at Caterham School and teaches French and German. His passion is to help children to think for themselves and to give them the tools to stand on their own two feet in their learning. A graduate of Cambridge University, he spent three years working in the Financial Services Industry before deciding to join the teaching profession in 1996. He has trained not only colleagues in schools but also GPs and Magistrates in both the Six Hats and CoRT 1 Skills. Caterham became the first independent school in the country to be awarded Thinking School status in September 2006. Kim continues to train Caterham staff, students and parents alike and the school now hosts an annual conference on innovative teaching. Kim had his research on thinking skills published in HMC's "Independent and Innovative" and has been interviewed about De Bono techniques on both Sky News and ITN News. He also works as an independent trainer and as an Associate Trainer for the Life Skills Company.

Sandra Bublis is the Director of Learning for the KnowledgePoints center in Fort Myers. She has a M.Ed. degree in Curriculum and Supervision from Northern Illinois University and a BS degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University. Mrs. Bublis taught 3rd grade for 9 years in Wheaton, Illinois before moving back to Indiana where she created instructional materials and executed the curriculum of core academic subjects for 17 years in the Gifted and Talented program, grades 3-6, in East Chicago, Indiana. Not only does Mrs. Bublis have a long career in education, she has also worked in property management for over 16 years. In 2000 she accepted a position in Starke County, Indiana where she developed advertising content for tourism and managed a visitor's bureau and two downtown development committees. She also established and funded four not-for-profit organizations. Mrs. Bublis enjoys reading, working Sudoku puzzles, and entertaining her family. She has been the Director of Learning since the opening of the center in April 2005.

Dr Devenish is Senior Teaching Fellow with the Australian College of Ministries based in Sydney, Australia, where he teaches in the areas of Theology and Spirituality, and serves as Director for Teaching and Learning for the College. Stuart is an Academic Board member of the Sydney College of Divinity and a Director for the Australasian Centre for Studies in Spirituality. In 2008 he was elected onto the Executive of the Psychology and Spirituality Society (sponsored by the Templeton Foundation and Metanexus Institute) of the University of Western Sydney. His areas of particular interest and expertise lie in phenomenology as a methodology for the study of religious conversion, spiritual experience, numinous encounter, and identifying religious epistemology. He has completed a book manuscript on the topic of the interior life of the Christian saint and the perceptual substance of the mystical faith-vision which results from the excess of meaning found there.

Susan is also the founding chair of LEAF, the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund and she currently sits on the Board of Learning for a Sustainable Future and the Women, Peace and Security Coalition. Susan has also worked as a consultant in the private sector, taught university as a sessional professor, led college seminars on humor and work and served on the Board of a wide variety of voluntary organizations.

As the Director of Learning in our Strongsville Learning Center, Tessa is responsible for the implementation and oversight of each student's unique tutoring/learning plan. Tessa works with all of our students and ensures that our staff achieves the desired goals and objectives of both our parents and students. Tessa joined KnowledgePoints as Director of Learning in our Strongsville Learning Center in the spring of 2007. Prior to joining our staff Tessa worked for OHDELA, which is an on-line tutoring program associated with several N.E. Ohio charter schools. Tessa has also taught in the Chicago Public Schools and several Pre-Schools. She received her B. S. degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from the University of Illinois. She is certified in Early Childhood Education through Third Grade.

William Kennedy is Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Faculty Development at Michigan Technological University. His research interests include cognitive neuroscience, pedagogical reform, assessment of student learning, and technology-mediated learning models. Dr. Kennedy teaches courses in Learning and Memory and Educational Psychology.

Sonya S. Myers, Ph.D. is an IES Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) and assists with teacher training and recruitment activities for the NCRECE Professional Development Study. Her research focuses on how parent-child and teacher-child interactions relate to self-regulation and school adjustment for low-income and minority children. More about Dr. Myers.
