Harriet Stewart has been a medical transcriptionist for 30 years, working in hospitals, in a service owned and operated by a group of ER physicians, in a partnership of a transcription service, and with an international internet-based transcription service. Harriet also taught MT for 10 years at Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach until her move to Northern Virginia in May of 2000, and as an instructor for M-TEC since 2001. In 1997, Harriet received AAMT's Marilyn Craddock Educator of the Year award. Harriet obtained her CMT certificate in 1983. She was bestowed the honor of Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (formerly AAMT) in 2002. She has been active in AHDI (formerly AAMT), as well as local and state transcription associations. She was one of the co-founders of the first chapter in Virginia, the Tidewater Chapter in 1982. Harriet is current president of the Northern Virginia Chapter. Harriet's company is MT Innovations, specializing in medical transcription and MT education. She also has recently volunteered to co-chair a task force with the AHDI House of Delegates on Leadership Development. Harriet has been elected to serve on the 2008 AHDI Board Of Directors. Sandy started transcribing in a military hospital in Germany in 1978. She attained her certification 23 years ago and has benefit working in the field in many different venues. She has transcribed in the clinic environment, acute care hospital medical records, and national services. During her employment with MedQuist, she worked as a transcriptionist, recruiter, trainer, and new-hire mentor. She also owned a medical transcription service for 5 years. Currently, Sandy is working for ProScript Documentation Services as a recruiter and QA advisor. Sandy has worked as a medical transcription recruiter for 7 years. She also works with Lippincott Williams & Wilkins as an editor for their Stedman's Word Book series. Sandy has been a member of AAMT for 25 years.
