Donna Tanoue joined the company and was appointed Vice Chairman and a member of the Managing Committee in April 2002. She is also President of Bank of Hawaii Charitable Foundation and a Director on the Bank of Hawaii Board of Directors to which she was elected in October 2001. As Vice Chairman, Ms. Tanoue has responsibility for client relations and community activities, areas of major emphasis under the Bank’s new business plan.
Ms. Tanoue is the past Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Washington, D.C. As FDIC Chairman from May 1998 to July 2001, she was responsible for the federal regulatory agency that supervises more than 5,000 banks and insures more than $3 trillion in bank and savings and loan deposits. Prior to becoming FDIC Chairman, Ms. Tanoue was a partner in the Hawaii law firm of Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel, which she joined in 1987. She concentrated her practice in the areas of bank regulation, real estate finance and governmental affairs. From 1983 to 1987, Ms. Tanoue served as Commissioner of Financial Institutions for the State of Hawaii.
Ms. Tanoue received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hawaii and a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
Harold R. Somerset has been a business consultant since 1994. Prior to that, Mr. Somerset served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the California and Hawaiian Sugar Company (C&H) from February 1988 to December 1993. Mr. Somerset joined the Board of Directors of Longs Drug Stores Corporation in 1992. He served as Vice Chairman from October 2002 to February 2003 and Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Longs Drug Stores from February 2002 to October 2002. Mr. Somerset serves as a member of the Audit and Finance Committee and the Compensation Committee. He is also a member of the board of directors of Brown and Caldwell, a privately held environmental engineering firm.

Evelyn Dilsaver serves as Director of Tamalpais Bancorp and its subsidiary, Tamalpais Bank; she is also a member of Tamalpais Bancorp’s Audit and Enterprise Risk committees.
Evelyn Dilsaver is a recognized leader in building highly motivated teams in both the public and non-profit sector. As President and CEO of Charles Schwab Investment Management, she was responsible for all facets of the business from portfolio management to product development, sales, operations and technology, growing the assets from $137 Billion to over $200 Billion in 4 short years while generating $1 Billion in revenue. At the same time, she was Chair of the Board for Women’s Initiative, a non-profit organization that helps lower income women become economically independent, by providing a one-stop organization for training, micro-finance and savings to help them start their own businesses. She took this organization through a founder transition, restructuring the board and its finances after the dot-com bust, to a healthy and growing organization serving over 3000 women annually.
Starting her career as a Certified Public Accountant with Ernst & Ernst, Evelyn spent the first 17 years of her career in the finance function as Controller for First Nationwide Bank and for The Charles Schwab Corporation and 3 years as CFO and Chief Administrative Officer for U.S. Trust, a wealth management subsidiary of Schwab. Deciding to move into general management, Evelyn was given the opportunity to hone her skills in marketing, business development, strategy, mergers and acquisition and product development, culminating in the role of President and CEO of Charles Schwab Investment Management.
Evelyn has been recognized in the community for her leadership, receiving the 2003 Filipinas Magazine Corporate Award, the San Francisco Business Times “100 Most Influential Woman award for 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007, the California Women’s Leadership Alliance Award, 2006 and Legal Momentum’s Women of Achievement award, 2007, and Cal State East Bay Alumnae of the Year, 2008.
A sought after speaker on leadership and strategy, Evelyn has been a guest lecturer at Stanford’s Senior Executive Program for the last 10 years and has appeared on CNBC and Bloomberg TV. Evelyn is also a frequent speaker at leadership conferences such as the professional Business Women’s Conference, The Governor’s Conference for Women, California Diversity Council and the Financial Women’s Network.
Evelyn served on the public company board of Longs Drugs and is presently on the boards of Aeropostale, High Mark Funds and three non-profit boards, Women’s Initiative, The Commonwealth Club and Bishop O’Dowd High School.

Leroy T. Barnes, Jr. joined the Board of Directors of Frontier Communications Corporation in May 2005. He also serves as a Director of Longs Drug Stores, Inc., The McClatchy Company, Herbalife and The California Endowment.
In 2005, Mr. Barnes retired as Vice President and Treasurer of PG&E Corporation. From 2001 to 2005, he oversaw all financing, financial planning, risk management, cash management and pension fund operations. In 2004, he led the largest-ever U.S. utility financing, PG&E's landmark $7 billion debt financing in connection with its Plan of Reorganization.
Prior to 2001, Mr. Barnes was Vice President and Treasurer of Gap, Inc., the international clothing retailer, where he was responsible for all of the company's financing, cash management, international finance, investor relations and risk management. While at Gap, Inc., he led the company's first major public debt issuance and managed its $1 billion common stock repurchase program.
Before joining Gap, Inc., Mr. Barnes held a number of executive positions at Pacific Telesis Group/SBC Communications, including Assistant Treasurer, Division General Manager, and Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of PacTel Corporation. He was a principal in engineering the company's spin-off of AirTouch, Inc., as well as the sale of Pacific Telesis to SBC Communications. His experience also includes positions at UC Press, where he was Chief Financial Officer, and Deloitte & Touche, where he was a Management Consultant.
Mr. Barnes earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Stanford Business School, where he was a Rockefeller Foundation Finance and Management Fellow.
