M. Block and Sons was founded in Chicago in 1908. The Company originally was in sheet metal fabrication. During World War II, with the rationing of steel, M. Block went in the wholesale distribution business for a line of glass bakeware called Pyrex . Since the early 1970's, we have been exclusively involved in distribution, diversifying from housewares into small electrical appliances, personal care products, picture frames, watches and clocks, computer software, calculators and electronic accessories. In 1984 we started Block House, a division specializing in import gifts and glassware, and providing fulfillment programs for major manufacturers. In 1989, our Pacific division opened in California for our Western customer base. As our company has grown, our need for space had increased. In 1998, we relocated from our facilities in Chicago to our new corporate office and distribution center in the southwest suburbs of Bedford Park, Illinois. M. Block and Sons now has over 450,000 square feet of warehouse space in two distribution centers - Bedford Park, IL, and Ontario, CA - and maintains sales offices in Northern California and Scottsdale, AZ.
