George Wright currently pursues life as an independent businessman providing consulting services to education, business and government. Previous to his return to private business in late spring of 2005, George held the post of Executive Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer for Magic Lantern Group, Inc., a public company operating in Canada and internationally to distribute learning video to institutional education and public broadcasting. He has developed, produced and managed social affairs programming, public and government relations campaigns and national advertising programs as an executive for two national and international industrial associations in Canada. As an educator first a high school teacher and later a college administrator in the 1970s he became a key member of the provincial team introducing screen and media education to schools across the Canadian province of Ontario. As an independent documentary producer in the 1980s he produced more than forty series and programs for use in Ontario schools and educational broadcasting. Beginning as a teacher with undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Western Ontario and teacher certification from the University of Toronto, George has been a high school teacher and then an instructor, administrator and CIO in two Ontario colleges, Sheridan and DeVry; Education Officer in provincial education (Ontario); a senior Public Affairs executive with the national associations for the distilling and life insurance industries in Canada; an independent television producer; and Chief Technology Officer in high-tech business environments for Magic Lantern and its subsidiary, Sonoptic Technologies Inc. Drawing on this wide range of experience and able to deal creatively and practically with a diversity of organizational challenges to manage time-sensitive and performance-driven projects and outcomes, George brings a team approach to the projects he undertakes. He is ready to offer leadership, management skills, coordination services or straightforward on-the-ground support as needed. He has had a career of successfully providing the solution appropriate to the challenge in public affairs and event management, public education, business planning, media production, Web application development and ICT management.
