Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd.

Mr. R S P Sinha took over as Chairman & Managing Director, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) on 10th August, 2004. Prior to this he has served as officiating Chairman & Managing Director, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited from 1st November, 2003 to 10th August, 2004. He has served as Director (Finance), on board of MTNL, as well as other PSUs. Mr. Sinha has a natural inclination for studies and was awarded with B.Sc.Engineering. (Elect.), Master of Business Management (Finance), CAIIB, LLB and ICWA. In Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited (A mini-Navratana) as Director (Finance), he handled the first Public Issue of Rs.100 crore in 1994, by any PSU, which was over-subscribed by 13 times. In 1999, during his tenure as Director (Finance), VSNL came out with a successful GDR issue of US$185 million as part of Government disinvestments including public issue within the country which was instrumental in creating bullish sentiments amongst the investors, as ten rupees share was sold at a premium of Rs.740/- per share. During his tenure as Director (Finance), VSNL got listed on New York Stock Exchange. He was also actively involved in the disinvestments of VSNL. Although, after disinvestments of VSNL, new management (Tata Group) had offered to Mr Sinha, reappointment on VSNL Board. However, Mr Sinha declined the offer and joined Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) as Director (Finance) on 3rd April, 2002.

Ms. Anita Soni belongs to Indian P & T Finance & Accounts Service and has taken over as Director (Finance) MTNL from April, 2005. She is gold medalist of Punjab University in MA Economics (Honours School), 1976. Her subjects of specialization included Macro & Micro Economics, Financial Management, Mathematics Statistical Analysis, Econometrics, Discounted Cash Flows, Project Appraisal, Costing & International finance. Her 27 years of career included extensive and comprehensive experience in Telecom sector & Financial Management. She held important position in DOT, BSNL & TRAI. She worked with major financial institutions like ICICI & IDBI to prepare a report on Funding Requirement for private & public sector Telecom projects. She worked as an expert on the prestigious committee on commercialization of Infrastructure Projects, which submitted its report “India Infrastructure Report”, 1997. She was invited as an expert by ITU in 1996 to evaluate a major International Project, provided consultancy for formulating a business plan for major telecom project covering four (4) countries, and was financial expert for business plan for satellite project for Africa Commission by ITU in 1991-92.
