Dow Jones Description
Alternative asset managers, including hedge fund managers, as vital market participants, are often misunderstood by the press, the government, and the public-at-large. In light of the DC Court of Appeals decision overturning the SEC?s rule requiring registration of most hedge fund managers, the recent pension reform legislation, and the tremendous growth and increased visibility of the industry, hedge fund managers are under heightened scrutiny in the United States and abroad. This scrutiny necessitates focused advocacy, consistent messages, and shared experiences for the industry. Managed Funds Association is the voice of the global alternative investment industry. Its members include professionals in hedge funds, funds of funds and managed futures funds. Established in 1991, MFA is the primary source of information for policymakers and the media and the leading advocate for sound business practices and industry growth. MFA members represent the vast majority of the largest hedge fund groups in the world who manage a substantial portion of the approximately $2 trillion invested in absolute return strategies. MFA is headquartered in Washington, D.C., with an office in New York.
