Dennis Eidson joined Spartan Stores in March 2003 and was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 2008. Dennis oversees all marketing, merchandising and store operations. Dennis is a graduate of Michigan State University's Food Management program and has spent his entire career working in the Michigan and Ohio regions grocery industry.
Prior to joining Spartan, Dennis was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company's (A&P) Midwest region, and Assistant General Manager for Nash Finch, Inc's Michigan operations. Dennis was instrumental in implementing successful and disciplined category management principals for A&Ps Farmer Jack retail grocery operations.
Mr. Meyer is the past Chairman of the Board and President and CEO of Spartan Stores, Inc. He began serving on the Board of Directors in 2004.
As Spartan Stores?executive vice president and chief financial officer, Dave Staples oversees information technology, real estate and finance.
Prior to joining Spartan, Dave spent four years at the Detroit, Mich.-based Kmart Corporation (NYSE:KM). While at Kmart, Dave worked on various special projects in such areas as systems implementation, process improvement and divestitures as well as oversaw all of the corporate accounting and reporting functions. His most recent responsibilities were as divisional vice president - strategic planning and reporting and included planning and analysis, budgeting, reporting and corporate accounting.
Before his tenure with Kmart, Dave served 11 years in the audit and business advisory practice of Arthur Andersen LLP? Detroit office. During his time at Arthur Andersen, Dave functioned as a consultant as well as a business advisor to his clients.

Alan Hartline joined Spartan Stores in 2003 as Vice President Retail Merchandising and was most recently appointed to Executive Vice President Merchandising in 2008. Prior to joining Spartan Stores, Alan held the position of strategic business manager at Daymon Worldwide, leading a team in the category development group headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. Alan also spent two years with A&P's Midwest division where he held positions as Senior Category Manager, Merchandising Program Manager, and Director of Strategic Pricing and Data Integrity. In addition, he spent 15 years with the Kroger Company in various Operations and Merchandising positions. Alan holds a Master's degree in Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Walsh College.
Alex J. DeYonker joined Spartan Stores in October 2006 from Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, a 180 lawyer firm, where he had served for four years as Managing Partner and had been a partner since 1988. Alex has served as General Counsel to Spartan Stores since 1995 and as the Companys Secretary since 2000. He was also a Company board member from 1999-2003. His legal experience includes corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, SEC reporting and a general corporate practice. Alex has been listed for over 10 years in ?he Best Lawyers in America?and is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan (former Chairperson of the Business Law Section) and the Grand Rapids Bar Association. He graduated cum laude with a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and holds a B.S. in Psychology with high honors from Michigan State University.
Derek Jones joined Spartan Stores in August 2006 from Unisource Worldwide, Inc., North America? leading independent marketer and distributor of commercial printing and business imaging papers, packaging systems, facility supplies and equipment. While serving as Vice President of Distribution for the company? eastern region covering 35 states, 48 distributions centers and $3 billion in annual delivery sales, he achieved significant distribution network productivity improvements and lowered network operating costs. Prior to Unisource, Derek held various positions in senior level operations management, supply chain operations and distribution with some of the nation? most respected retail store operators including Office Depot, Walgreen? and Wal-Mart.
Derek leads the supply chain and logistic areas of Spartan Stores?growing, value-added grocery distribution operation.

Ted Adornato joined Spartan Stores in December 2003 as Executive Vice President Retail Operations. Prior to joining Spartan, Ted held the position of Regional Vice President of Tops Markets, L.L.C. Eastern Region, an operating company of the Netherlands based Royal Ahold, one of the largest food retailers in the Netherlands and United States.
He has more than 22 years experience in the retail grocery industry and, most recently, 10 years with Tops where he led the successful turnaround of an underperforming operating market, including 22 acquired retail stores. He also held complete operating and profit and loss responsibilities for 62 retail stores. Prior to Tops, he spent 12 years with Acme Markets, Inc. in various managerial positions. Ted holds a Bachelor of Science in Account and Finance from Binghamton University School of Management.
Dave Couch has accountability for all corporate and retail technology, systems and communications services. Before joining Spartan in 1987, Dave spent nine years with Hewlett Packard in product marketing, data center management and communication network management. He also worked for General Foods Corporation for five years in programming and data center management. With Spartan, Dave has held the positions of communications advisor, corporate communications manager and director of management information services. He assumed his current position in June 1996.
Thomas A. Van Hall is the vice president of finance and is responsible for the operations of the finance department, including retail, distribution and corporate accounting; SEC reporting and compliance; budgeting/forecasting; tax planning and compliance; and financial shared services operations.
Prior to joining Spartan Stores in March 2001, Tom was vice president, planning and analysis, for the U.S. Foods Supply Chain division of Sara Lee Corp. Previously, he held positions as vice president supply chain, vice president finance/CFO in addition to other financial roles for the Bil Mar Foods division of Sara Lee Corp.
Tom began his career at Deloitte and Touche in Grand Rapids. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Executives International and the American Institute of CPAs.

Craig Sturken joined Spartan Stores in March 2003 and is Executive Chairman. Craig brings more than 40 years of grocery retail and distribution industry experience to Spartan Stores including 10 years as chief executive officer of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company's Atlantic and Midwest regions.
Craig has a wealth of experience in the supermarket industry, with valuable knowledge and skills in both wholesale and retail operations. He spent more than eight years as chief executive officer of A&P's Midwest region, headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, successfully managing the Farmer Jack, Food Emporium, and Kohl's supermarket banners.
Dr. Gambino is a Professor of Marketing and the Director of the Food & Consumer Package Goods Marketing Program in the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University, and has been on the WMU faculty since 1984. Prior to joining WMU, Dr. Gambino had over 15 years experience in the retail food industry. He is actively involved in the food and consumer package goods industries at both the national and regional level, currently serving on the Retail Site Development Committee for Wakefern Food Corporation of Elizabeth, New Jersey; an advisory committee that reports to the Wakefern Board of Directors. He also serves on an advisory group to the National Grocers Association and the Food Marketing Institute.

Mr. Morganthall currently serves as President of Harris Teeter, a division of publicly traded Ruddick Corporation (NYSE:RDK), headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Harris Teeter operates supermarkets in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida. Mr. Morganthall has served in senior management positions with Harris Teeter for over 13 years. Prior to becoming President of Harris Teeter, Mr. Morganthall served Harris Teeter in other executive positions. He also held management positions at Spartan Stores where he was responsible for grocery, frozen and dairy, procurement, general merchandise, and health and beauty care from 1978 through 1986. He began his career with Proctor & Gamble.
Mr. Wright serves as Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tractor Supply Company, a farm equipment and supply retailer based in Nashville, Tennessee whose stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Wright previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of a 600-store chain of tire stores headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida. He also held executive positions with K-Mart Corporation, Troy, Michigan and Western Auto Supply Company, Kansas City, Missouri.
Mr. Wright brings an experienced career that combines retail strategy, operations and management to Spartan Stores.
