Ian Davis is McKinsey's tenth managing director. A British national, Ian has been with the firm for more than 25 years and was formerly head of McKinsey's London office. Although he remains based in London, Ian spends a significant amount of time travelling to visit McKinsey offices and clients around the world. Speaking about his role, Ian has said, "A managing director is a servant leader: elected, not appointed. The managing director role reflects the contrasts between a partnership and a corporation. To me, one of the joys of being a private partnership is that we can set our own objectives and metrics, consistent with our values. I believe that the firm's strategy and direction are deeply embedded in our mission and values . My primary focus is on the future health of the firm, rather than short-term performance." As McKinsey's leader, Ian challenges firm members to think about and embrace Distinctiveness, Values and Innovation in all that they do. These are his three priority themes, outlined in 2003, his first year as managing director. Ian defines 'distinctiveness' as the aspiration that in everything we do people will say, "Only McKinsey could do that." The quest for innovation is a charge by Ian to experiment more and try new ideas and approaches to client service so that the firm remains fresh, vibrant, and relevant to our clients. Ian emphasizes the importance of knowledge development by publishing articles in external publications a couple times a year. Pierre is the Managing Director from the Belgian practice of McKinsey & Company. He joined McKinsey in 1987 with a MBA from Harvard Business School and a degree in Commercial Engineering from the Free University of Brussels (V.U.B.). Before McKinsey, he served as an officer in the Belgian armed forces in Germany, commanding a platoon of armored cavalry. He is one of the leaders of the European retail practice, and has extensively served a large number of European retailers in grocery, apparel, do-it-yourself, specialty and food service on matters of strategy, format renewal, operational improvements and organization. Pierre also leads the Leadership Practice in Europe, focusing on building personal and institutional client leadership capabilities. Additionally, he also has extensive experience in serving payment players, luxury goods companies, packaged goods clients and financial institutions. He is also actively involved in a major country transformation project for the Republic of Armenia through the think tank "Armenia 2020", which he co-founded.

Byron is one of the original founders of Hope Street Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors. A co-creator of the "Building the Opportunity Economy" policy package, he also co-authored the opinion piece in the Boston Globe entitled "The Biggest Tax is Debt", and has represented Hope Street Group in coalition-building discussions with political and business leaders and the media. Byron is the senior partner in the Los Angeles Office of McKinsey & Company, where he was elected Principal in 1999, and Director in 2005. He is also the lead manager for McKinsey's newly created global Social Sector office. His client work focuses on helping technology, media, and services companies to achieve faster growth, greater productivity, and higher profitability. He also specializes on how to build information and services businesses across a wide range of industries. In addition, Byron helps public sector and non-profit clients to improve their delivery of services. Since starting at McKinsey, he has founded McKinsey's High Tech Services Sector, co-leads its High Tech Knowledge Committee, has served on the global committees that elect and evaluate new partners, and leads the firm's Diversity initiative globally. Before joining McKinsey & Company in 1993, Byron worked as an economist in international trade, finance, and economic development at the African Development Bank, at LMC International, and at Oxford University. Byron is an active writer and public speaker on the impact of globalization, deregulation, and technology changes on industry structure, corporate strategy, and public policy. Most notably, he authored the publications "A Revolution in Interaction" (1997), a seminal analysis of the emerging new economy; "What's So New About Globalization?" (1998), a widely cited synthesis of global economic trends and their implications; "The Other Side of Outsourcing" (2001), an analysis of success factors in developing, marketing, and selling outsourced services; "The Right Services Strategy for Product Companies" (2006); and The Economics of International Payments Unions and Clearing Houses, published by MacMillan Press (1997). Byron serves on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Council on International Policy. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and serves on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles and the Inland Empire. He has worked closely with the Mayor of Los Angeles on a range of strategic and performance management issues for the city, and serves with other senior business leaders on the Los Angeles Economy and Jobs Committee. He is a Senior Fellow at the UCLA School of Public Affairs for 2006-07. Byron received a B.A. in economics and political science summa cum laude from Yale University, where he was chosen as a Truman Scholar, and a M. Phil. and D.Phil. (doctorate) in economics from Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar.

Kate McCann has been providing management, strategic and financial expertise to some of Australia's top companies for a significant period. Kate holds degrees in Business Management, Science and Finance, with a distinguished career in management consultancy, culminating in her appointment as partner of the firm McKinsey & Company. Kate is one of Sydney's top strategic, management and HR experts with her experience spanning a number of key industries, including IT, insurance, retail, finance and banking.

Lee Kempler is a Partner in McKinsey & Company's New York office. He has spent most of his career serving clients in the financial institutions arena on a range of strategy, operations, and organization issues. In 2004, Lee was appointed McKinsey's Director of Knowledge, with global responsibility for the people, processes, and technology associated with building and maintaining the Firm's proprietary knowledge. Lee has also been active in serving nonprofit institutions in New York City. Lee first joined McKinsey in 1986, rejoined after attending graduate school in 1991, and was elected Partner in 1997. In addition to New York, Lee has worked in McKinsey's London and Johannesburg offices. Lee holds a B.A. in Mathematics and French, a B.S. in Economincs, and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he holds an M.A. in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

Pat Butler is a senior Partner of McKinsey and Company Inc., based in London. He specialises in financial services and leads McKinsey?s European Retail Banking practice, having previously led the UK financial services practice. He has served banking and insurance clients in the UK, US, Middle East, South Africa, Australia and several European countries, as well as clients in a range of other industries. Born in 1960, Pat was educated at University College, Dublin and has been a Partner of McKinsey since 1993. He is married with children and enjoys climbing, skiing and most winter sports. David is an independent consultant specialising in the funding and governance of charities and social enterprises. His clients have included the UK Treasury, the first venture philanthropy ?pooled? fund in the UK, the Big Lottery Fund, Arts & Business, the European Foundation Centre and many endowed and corporate foundations in the UK. Rajat Kumar Gupta is the Senior Partner Emeritus of McKinsey & Company. He joined the Firm's New York Office in 1973, assumed leadership of its Scandinavian Offices in 1981, and Chicago Office in 1989. Mr. Gupta served as the Managing Director Worldwide of McKinsey from 1994 to 2003. In his 34 year career in consulting, Mr. Gupta has served many leading companies on a broad set of topics related to strategy, organization and operations. He has played a thought leadership role in organizational thinking throughout his career, and led the Organization Practice for the Firm. Mr. Gupta is very active in many non-profit institutions focused on education, health and development. He served as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advisor on UN Reform, is an independent Director of Goldman Sachs, Procter & Gamble, AMR Corporation, Qatar Financial Centre, and is the Chairman of the Board of Genpact and New Silk Route Private Equity. Ms Sahana Sarma is an Associate Partner with McKinsey Company. She has extensive experience in enterprise software and services related to telecom and infrastructure. She has led development of growth strategy for leading telecom software providers including detailed identification and assessment of potential markets and supporting internal actions, acquisitions, and partnerships required. In addition she has designed organization, sales process, and compensation for the services unit of a leading enterprise infrastructure software provider and worked with sales regions to ensure success. Ms Sahana has an MBA from Harvard Business School. She also has a Master of Engineering degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA and a Bachelor of Science degree from the same Institute. She will assist TIC LLC, wherever possible in their IT assignments.

Walter Mittelbach is initiator and founding partner of SorTech AG and managing director since foundation. He graduated in physics (studies in Graz, Austria and Berlin), joined the Fraunhofer-Institute for Solar Energy Systems in 1995 and was entrepreneurially active at UFE Solar GmbH. In 2002 he co-founded the SorTech AG in his role as technical executive and successfully lead and developed the company as sole managing director until beginning of 2008. Jeff has an extensive background in information technology management, financial accounting, and financial reporting. He is currently a manager at McKinsey and Company, a prominent management consulting firm, responsible for the development and implementation of global integrated business and technology solutions. Previously, Jeff was a principal management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, a leading professional services firm, where he worked with large financial services institutions to implement a variety of financial technology solutions. He also spent five years at JP Morgan & Co., a major international investment bank, where he was involved in various roles in finance, technology, information management and internal audit. Jeff holds a B.S. in Accounting/Computer Science from Bucknell University. He also works with the East Village Parks Conservancy, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving New York City's East Village parks.

Jorgen Ekberg has been a Director of Hoegh since 2000. He is a Senior Partner of Litorina Capital Management AB in Stockholm. Prior to that he was the President & CEO of ASG/Danzas AB and has experience as Senior Engagement Manager for McKinsey & Co in Stockholm and Hong Kong. He is a member of several boards. Larry Maher is an engagement manager with McKinsey & Company. Before management consulting, Larry spent five years in audit and information systems security for Arthur Andersen before returning to business school. Larry holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Born in New Zealand, Mark graduated from Auckland University with a first class Honours degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce. Mark joined leading New York law firm Skadden, Arps, Slade, Meagher & Flom as an attorney and went on to become a Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, advising business heads of several large international organisations on business development and corporate strategy. Mark is an avid swimmer and competed for New Zealand at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Mark is also a keen chess player, and passionate about contemporary literature and arts.

Paula was born and raised primarily in the midwest. She moved to Dallas in 1990 in order to teach at St. Anthony's for several years and then moved to Austin, Texas to pursue a Master's degree in Library and Information Scinence. Paula and her husband Paul returned to Dallas and re-joined Holy Trinity Catholic Church in 1996. Their two daughters attend Holy Trinity Catholic School - one in Pre-Kindergarten and one in Kindergarten. Paula presently serves on the Holy Trinity Catholic School School Advisory Council. Currently she works as a research and knowledge manager for McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. Paula's husband Paul works for IBM in the Sales & Marketing Group.

Steven Carden is an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company in Auckland. Prior to joining the New Zealand office in early 2007, Steven spent three years serving North America's largest companies out of McKinsey's New York office. While working at McKinsey, Steven wrote a book about New Zealand called New Zealand Unleashed: The Country, Its Future, And The People Who Will Get It There. It was published by Random House in 2007 and has provided the opportunity to speak to groups throughout the country about the opportunities and challenges facing New Zealand. Steven is also the founder of the First Foundation, an innovative non-profit that for the last 10 years has provided New Zealand's most talented, but financially disadvantaged secondary school students with work, mentoring and funding from New Zealand's largest companies. In 2003, Steven received an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was awarded a Knox Fellowship and a Fulbright scholarship. He also holds an LLB and a BA from the University of Auckland. Steven was one of the inaugural winners of a Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leader award in 2005.

Adil Zainulbhai is the Chairman of the Board of Advisors. He currently heads McKinsey's operations in India. He has been with McKinsey for 20 years, working in various industries, but primarily focused on the telecommunications and wireless space. Most recently, he has worked extensively with large companies developing telecom strategies and in helping venture funded startups within the telecommunications and wireless industries. Mr. Zainulbhai has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Technology, with distinction, in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.

Ana did her undergrad in Romania and graduated with a major in business administration. Upon graduation, Ana worked for four years at Procter and Gamble doing sales and trade marketing. She worked in different roles and on different brands, but enjoyed her last experience doing Strategy and Planning, the most. She came to Ross to make a career switch into management consulting, and will be spending her summer in Detroit with McKinsey.

Her clients include SwissCom, Korn Ferry, Biokema, Aligro, Switzel & others. Anne's resume includes seven years marketing experience with L'Oreal and P&G, including Marketing Director at L'Oreal U.K. She has three years consulting experience with McKinsey (Novartis R&D). She is a board member of Getaz Romang. Holds her M.B.A. from Insead, in France. Anne has worked and lived in Switzerland, France and U.K. , and speaks French and English.

Blair Crawford is currently a Principal in McKinsey & Company's Boston office. Since joining McKinsey over a decade ago, Blair has worked in both Europe and North America with a broad range of Retail and Packaged Goods clients. His experience covers multiple issues including corporate strategy, growth, merchandising strategies, and organizational design. His recent experience includes leading a peer-based improvement program for a major U.S. grocer; developing a growth strategy for an apparel retailer; evaluating an acquisition opportunity for a large multi-line retailer; designing and launching a customer loyalty card for a large food retailer; and developing a global expansion strategy, including detailed implementation plans and operations redesign for a fast-food retailer. Blair joined McKinsey's London office after completing an MBA at Harvard Business School. Prior to McKinsey, he worked for the Arcadia Group (the UK largest fashion multiple retailer) for 5 years as both a Buyer and a Merchandiser. Blair lives in Brookline, MA with his wife, Sylvia, and two sons.

Eclectic experiences notwithstanding, Kocher had always wanted to be a doctor. "I was encouraged by the way doctors can have a meaningful impact on patients," he says. "I liked the idea that it's a job that is continually changing." After graduating from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1999, Kocher completed an internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. At McKinsey, Kocher helps hospitals, health systems, and governments in the United States and abroad develop strategies for improving health care. "Working at the system level, I'm able to have a much more broad and profound impact on patients than I can in an individual interaction," he explains. Recently, he was involved in developing a framework for U.S. health-care reform. "I think our health-care system can be improved tremendously," he says, "and I'm optimistic that it will be." About half of Kocher's time is spent traveling to clients' sites, either on day trips or longer stays abroad. Traveling has instilled a passion to experience other cultures. He wistfully describes trekking in Nepal, visiting the Bagan ruins in Myanmar, and cruising around bazaars and spice markets in Turkey. Kocher majored in zoology and political science at the University of Washington but did not work in a lab until he became an HHMI-NIH research scholar during medical school. He says research careers may seem daunting, but they can be very stable and rewarding. "People often have a preconceived notion that it's too hard or complicated or that it will be impossible," he says. Kocher feels that students need to know that these careers are viable. "Funding early encounters for folks in high school and undergraduate education is very helpful," he says. "If you're passionate and steadfast, you'll be able to be successful."

Brett Huneycutt's studies and experience have focused on development in Latin America. With a Fulbright grant, he conducted econometric research and in-depth interviews about migration and the informal economy in El Salvador. He has organized seminars on the U.S.-Mexico border, an immersion experience to a Zapatista refugee camp in Chiapas, and dental clinics in two rural Salvadoran villages. Brett graduated first in his class from Boston College with a B.A. in Economics, and then completed an M.Phil. in Economics at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. He now works at McKinsey & Company in New York City. He ultimately hopes to pursue a career related to economic development, through business and economic policymaking.

Caitlin Miller is the founder of CommunicationEssentials. For the past 13 years, Caitlin has devoted her life to helping individuals, teams and companies to produce breakthroughs in their performance by examining the way they communicate not just with each other, but also with themselves. Some of Caitlinwlett-Packard, Pfizer, Tesco and McKinsey & Co. Kris manages projects within the UK, mainland Europe, Russia, the US, and Asia Pacific.

A Harvard MBA graduate, Chris has also served at McKinsey & Co, and in product marketing at Gillette Corp for 10 years, including 4 years as Head of European Marketing. Chris then spent 2 years as VP International Marketing at Atari, and 10 years as Senior VP at Columbia Pictures (Sony Pictures) where he was COO of International Video from 1991-1995. Chris has won many awards during his career including the Computer Games Industry Achievement Award from BAFTA, and the 'Hall of Fame' from the European Leisure Software Publisher's Association. He is now on the board of several high tech firms as well as serving as Chairman of the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival.

Claudio Waller. Mr. Waller is a consultant with McKinsey and Co., specializing in the health care industry. He previously worked as a consultant for Deloitte and Touche in New York City. Mr. Waller received a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

David Satkowski comes to NPower NY with 10 years of experience in IT, and has worked for companies such as McKinsey & Co., KPMG, and Primary Knowledge. A native of Pittston, PA, Dave obtained his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University, where he also was a DJ on the university radio station. A proud New York resident since 1995, Dave is a dedicated New York Cares volunteer, currently tutoring high school kids to prepare them for the SAT. Davea s interests include playing guitar and piano, biking, traveling, and Italian food.

Deborah is working as a consultant at McKinsey & Company in New York. As an undergrad, Deborah served on the student boards of Women's Leadership Project, Women in Business, and Project HEALTH. Having grown up in a desert (Arizona), she is a devoted fan of watersports and wishes the rivers surrounding Manhattan were a better substitute for the ocean.

Donnan Steele is an Associate with McKinsey & Company and a recent Ph.D graduate in atmospheric chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied how air pollution affects clouds and, more generally, the earth's climate. Previously, he worked for the Environmental Working Group on pesticide and water quality issues and with Ozone Action on reporting indicators of global warming. He is co-founder of Student.net Publishing, Inc., an Internet company that became Student.com, one of the first commercial student-oriented websites, and TVGrid.com, an internationally syndicated television listing service. He has published in the academic journals Environmental Science & Technology and the Journal of Applied Meteorology.

Ehren Cory is an Associate Principal in the Toronto office of McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. Ehren joined the firm in February 2001 and advises clients on a range of strategic and operational issues. Ehren has a MBA degree from INSEAD and a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from The University of Western Ontario. Ehren joined Street Kids International's board of directors in spring 2006 and will be advising on governance and strategy issues.

Gary Pinkus: Gary is a principal at McKinsey & Company in San Francisco, and has worked at other McKinsey locations in Houston, Mexico City, Sydney and Zurich. Prior to joining McKinsey, he was with Bear Stearns Group in San Francisco. Gary has published several articles on innovation and commercialization in the biopharmaceutical industry. He earned a bachelor's degree in English at Stanford University and a master's of business administration at the Harvard Business School. He joined the Interplast board in 2001.

Gene Zelazny is the Director of Visual Communications for McKinsey & Company. Since joining the Firm in 1961, Gene's primary responsibility has been to provide creative advice and assistance to the professional staff in the design of visual presentations and written reports. This includes planning the communication strategy; structuring the story line; interpreting the data or concepts and recommending the best visual formats in terms of charts, diagrams, etc.; designing storyboards; and rehearsing the presentation. He is also responsible for designing and conducting communication training programs throughout the Firm, and has successfully integrated video workshops to improve the delivery skills of the consultants. Gene regularly presents his ideas on Making The Most of Your Business Presentation at business schools including Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, Darden, Harvard, Haas, Kellogg, Illinois, Michigan, Sloan, Stanford, Tuck, UCLA, Wharton, and Washington, in the U.S., and INSEAD, LBS, and Oxford in Europe. Professor Takeuchi is Dean of the Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. He is also a visiting professor at Harvard Business School. His research interests are focused on: the knowledge creation process within organizations, competitiveness of Japanese firms in global industries, new product development process, and international corporate strategy. His business experience includes consulting at McKinsey and advertising at McCann Erickson in Tokyo and San Francisco. Kasper Leschly is an Associate with Mckinsey & Company. He is stationed in Copenhagen, Denmark and recently developed China strategy for one of Denmark's largest industrial companies including fact-based recommendations on manufacturing, R&D setup and acquisition targets. Kasper also led the network capital optimization program and worked on purchasing models resulting in total recurrent savings of more than DKK 15 M for a middle sized Danish industrial group. He is also one of two associates responsible for MBA recruiting for the firm. During the summer of 2002, Kasper served as Product Manager Intern for Launch Teams at Novo Nordisk in Copenhagen. His primary responsibilities included Developing device leasing as an alternative pricing strategy, Building a sensitivity analysis model and improving the accuracy of existing forecasting systems, and creating a communications strategy establishing compliance as a major treatment issue. Baily was a member of the academic advisory panel of the Congressional Budget Office and has served as an academic advisor to the Federal Reserve Board and on a panel convened by the Office of Technology Assessment. He was the vice chairman of a panel of the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council investigating the effect of computers on productivity and was a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. Baily co-founded the microeconomics issue of the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity. He earned his Ph.D. in economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and has taught at both MIT and Yale University. He is the author of numerous books and articles, including Transforming the European Economy, co-authored with Jacob Kirkegaard and published by IIE in September 2004.

Matt Wilson matthew.wilson@yale.edu is a senior at Yale where he studies Economics and Mathematics. Matt is particularly interested in the issues surrounding costing and efficient resource allocation, as well as the political issues which arise from these areas. He spent two weeks last summer working with the Ministry of Public Health in the Bahamas analyzing the treatment, prevention, and education programs in place there from an practical and economic perspective. Next year Matt will be working as a consultant for Mckinsey and Company in New York.

Melora Krebs-Carter is currently a consultant in the Middle East office of McKinsey & Company, where she focused on health care systems. Prior to McKinsey, Melora ran the utilization and care management department at MetroPlus Health Plan, a managed care organization sponsored by the New York City public hospital system. In addition to her systems work, Melora has worked as a consultant to insurance companies, hospitals, clinics, and private practices. She also worked in Strategic Planning at Mattel, Inc, where she focused on the development of new products, entry into new markets, and M&A activities. Melora has also worked as a policy analyst at the Urban Institute. She is currently earning an Executive Master's in Health Services Management at Columbia University and has a BA in Human Biology from Stanford University.

Nicholas Boys Smith was an adviser on welfare policy to the Secretary of State for Social Security (Peter Lilley) before working at McKinsey & Co for six years. His study into the British welfare system, Reforming Welfare, was published in November 2006 and he is a member of The Economic Dependency Commission.

Over the past decade, Nicolaus has worked on more than 250 health care engagements in 17 health care systems on a broad set of issues, including health care system design, creating and managing payors, hospital strategy, and operations, as well as R&D and marketing of pharmaceuticals. Nicolaus leads McKinsey's UK health care practice and is a leader of the global health care practice. He frequently speaks on and publishes health care and talent management topics. Prior to his time at McKinsey, Nicolaus worked in banking for 2 years. Ms.Swiatkiewicz is an Associate at McKinsey & Company. Her experience includes consulting on strategic management concerns, valuation analysis, and structuring finance and investment transactions. Prior to joining McKinsey, Ms. Swiatkiewicz was an Associate in investment banking with J.P. Morgan & Company where she analyzed merger consequences and performed capital structure presentations for clients in the healthcare industry. Her experience encompassed the design of onshore and offshore financing structures, the implementation of rating agency processes, and the development of security and ownership vehicles. While with J.P. Morgan Ms. Swiatkiewicz marketed and sold over $600 million of private equity placements and investment transactions. Ms. Swiatkiewicz holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance, International Business, and Marketing from Babson College where she graduated summa cum laude.

Onche Rajesh Ugbabe is presently a consultant with McKinsey and Company, Atlanta. He received his MBA at the Harvard Business School. A Senior Fellow and cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College, his previous work experience includes stints at Morgan Stanley and Prudential Securities (investment banking) as well as for Sony Music Entertainment Inc. and The Lake Placid Institute for the Arts and Humanities. Until his "retirement" in October 2004, Dr. Peter Mailandt was the Vice President and General Manager of Andrew Corporation's Base Station Antenna Business Unit. There he was responsible for all facets of the design, manufacture and technical sales support for base station antennas. Prior to the merger with Andrew Corp., Dr. Mailandt was President of Decibel Products. In this position, he guided Decibel since 1984 and established manufacturing and sales presence in China, Brazil and Mexico and sales offices in all key regions of the World. Dr. Mailandt has more than 45 years experience in wireless communication, electronics and science. Before joining Decibel, Dr. Mailandt spent two years with the Oil Well Division of U.S. Steel, based in Dallas, as Director of Business Development and Strategic Planning. This followed a six year tenure with McKinsey & Company, where he was senior management consultant in the field of strategic, financial and manufacturing planning and management for high-tech companies. Prior to his consulting work with McKinsey, Dr. Mailandt was a member of the central research staff and, subsequently, assistant to the Corporate Operations Controller for Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas. In 1963, Dr. Mailandt earned his Bachelor's of Science degree from the Free University of Berlin, Germany. After arriving in the United States as a participant of an academic exchange program, his education continued at the University of Minnesota where he earned a Master of Science, a Master of Business Administration and a Doctorate in Physics. Roger Pilc - Chief Operating Officer Roger Pilc is an experienced, talented and visionary leader who brings an impressive track record of success to QUMAS. Prior to joining the company, Roger was Chief Executive Officer of Whale Communications, a leading software security vendor that was acquired by Microsoft. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer at enterprise management software vendor SMARTS. Under his leadership, SMARTS realized a nearly five-fold growth in revenues, experienced consistent profitability and was ultimately acquired by EMC. Susan Lund is a Senior Fellow at the McKinsey Global Institute, where she leads its research on global capital markets. In addition, recent reports have examined the sustainability of the US current account deficit, analyzed prospects for China's financial system, and assessed how India's financial sector affects economic growth. Tim Welsh, a Principal of McKinsey & Company, stops asking questions when the matter needs an immediate response or he simply runs out of time. If an organizational rule or guideline is breached, for example, he feels it should be addressed quickly. In that instance, questions might be used to establish the reason for the breach, but a quick and firm decision ensures the rule or guideline is upheld in the future.

Janamitra Devan, a McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) senior fellow located in McKinsey & Company's Shanghai office in China, has long standing experience in Asia and North America. He has led several intensive knowledge projects and studies at McKinsey and comes from both an academic and consulting background. Devan began his career in Asia as a consultant for Ernst & Young in Singapore. He then took an academic appointment in the US as an assistant professor at Middlebury College, where he taught economics and finance. In 1992, Devan re-entered consulting, this time in the US, with Standard & Poor's DRI/McGraw Hill where he eventually led its Asia consulting services. In 1996, he joined the World Bank as the program manager for the Middle East and North Africa in its Foreign Direct Investment Advisory Services. His work has brought him to the intersection of both the private and public sectors in several countries in particular: Pakistan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, China, India, Iran, and Thailand. Prior to joining MGI, Devan was the Director of Global Operations of the Strategy Practice where he led several strategy knowledge efforts and was an expert resource in corporate strategy for several clients. He also is a leader of a new initiative in McKinsey to better understand the drivers of corporate performance. He worked with McKinsey since 1978, most recently as Leader of its Global Industry Practices from 2000 to 2005. He also serves as a director of Tesoro Corporation.

Lowell Bryan is a director of McKinsey & Company, where he serves major clients on a wide range of issues related to corporate strategy and organization. He has spoken and written extensively a " particularly on topics related to strategy, organization, and financial services a " for the past 30 years. He is currently co-authoring a book on managing companies in the 21st century, a subject that reflects more than a decadea s worth of research into the forces at work in the global economy and their implications for corporations. His most recent book emerging from this research was Race for the World: Strategies to Build a Great Global Firm, published by the Harvard Business Press in 1999. Lowell has been the principal author of four additional books, including Market Unbound and Breaking Up the Bank. He has been a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal editorial page and has published articles in numerous periodicals, including the Harvard Business Review and the McKinsey Quarterly. Lowell earned a B.A. from Davidson College in 1968 and an M.B.A., with distinction, from the Harvard Business School in 1970. Prior to joining McKinsey & Co. in 1975, he worked for the State Street Bank of Boston. He is a trustee of Davidson College and just completed a term on the Visiting Committee for Harvard Business School.

Martha Laboissiere is a senior fellow at the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), McKinsey & Company's economics research arm, where she leads knowledge efforts. Her work focuses on labor markets, labor productivity (particularly in Latin America) and health care. Martha was previously a consultant in the Sao Paulo office of McKinsey & Company. She has served clients in the areas of financial institutions and health care. Prior to joining McKinsey, she pursued an academic career, first as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of California San Francisco and later at the University of Brasilia in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Martha has a B.A. in biology from the University of Brasilia. She also holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Noah Kroloff is a Partner at NGN Capital, a healthcare venture capital firm with offices in New York and Heidelberg. Mr. Kroloff, who has 19 years experience in healthcare, most recently served as an executive officer at i-STAT Corporation, a publicly-traded medical device company where he was Vice President for International Sales & Marketing and Corporate Development. He was actively involved in the sale of i-STAT to Abbott Laboratories for approximately $450 million. He also led the creation of a global alliance with Abbott, a $61 million alliance with Hewlett-Packard Medical Products Group and i-STAT's international distribution network. Prior to i-STAT, Mr. Kroloff was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co. where he advised leading pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies on R&D management, portfolio strategy, and alliance formation. Prior to his work in healthcare, he was a senior analyst at Fannie Mae and an associate at Industrial Economics, Inc. Mr. Kroloff received his BA in general science from Brandeis University and his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management where he was a founder of and currently serves as a judge in the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition. He is a member of the board of BeneChill, Inc. and Coagulation Sciences LLC.

Paul is a former director of McKinsey & Company, the international management consultants where he worked for more than twenty five years before taking early retirement in 2004. While there he was a leader of its worldwide organisation practice, and worked with a number of major global corporations and financial institutions in Continental Europe, North America and Japan, as well as the UK. He has a particular interest and experience in issues of corporate governance. At McKinsey's he led practice work and engaged in a wide range of governance environments including plc's, mutual organisations, state owned enterprises, family firms and professional partnerships. While at McKinseys, Paul chaired the Professional Staff Committee which evaluated the performance of individual consultants. He also chaired the Knowledge Development Committee which sought to devise processes for setting research priorities and for their effective dissemination. Over the last year, he has worked as an independent adviser on the government review of the governance of mutual life insurers. He is currently acting as an adviser to the London Business School, and has been invited to join the Life Board of the Institute of Actuaries as its first lay member. He continues in a private capacity to serve a small number of leading professional firms.

Bob Paulson founded Aerostar Capital LLC in 1997 to specialize in private equity investments for the aerospace industry. He launched this investment program to exploit the opportunities offered by the ongoing consolidation of the aerospace industry supply chain. This need for supply chain consolidation was triggered by the merger frenzy among the aerospace primes in the 1990s. As the CEO of Aerostar Capital, Bob offers extensive aerospace and investment experience. After earning a BA in Economics (Cum Laude) from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA (with Distinction) from Harvard, Bob served as an Army Officer and as an analyst on the staff of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Systems Analysis. Following his government service, Bob worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Company for 26 years. During his consulting career, Bob served as the head of McKinsey's Global Aerospace and Defense Practice, ran the Los Angeles Office of McKinsey, was twice elected to McKinsey's Board of Directors, and chaired the firm's committee to oversee M&A support to all McKinsey clients. Roger Kline is a Director (Senior Partner) at McKinsey with responsibility for McKinsey's service to a number of its largest global clients. He has been interviewed or quoted in and written articles on various topics for the Wall Street Journal, the American Banker, Fortune, and other journals and periodicals.

Vik Malhotra is a director of McKinsey & Company, where he has served major financial institutions focused on life insurance, wholesale banking, asset management, private banking, and retail banking. Vik currently leads the Northeast Office, which encompasses the New York, Boston, and Stamford offices, and is a member of McKinsey's Shareholders Council (Board of Directors) and Director Review Committee. During his tenure at McKinsey, Vik has led McKinsey's Financial Institutions, Life Insurance, and Personal Financial Services practices, and has co-led the Emerging Markets Financial Institutions Practice. His consulting experience covers a wide range within the financial industry, including corporate strategy, business unit strategy, growth strategies, organizational design, operational improvement, and business process offshoring. Before joining McKinsey, Vik graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. William F. Meehan III is a senior director of McKinsey and Company, Inc. During his 29 years with the firm, Meehan has had extensive experience working with chief executives and senior leaders in technology, private equity, retailing, financial services, and media. His focus includes top management strategy, organization, and leadership, including assisting more than a dozen new CEOs in shaping their agenda. In addition to his service to clients, Meehan has held many leadership roles with the firm. As a member of the Shareholders Council, McKinsey's board, he is chair of the Client Committee, which is responsible for all client-oriented polices of the firm. In addition, he chairs the Firm Investments Committee, which oversees more than $4 billion of investments through the McKinsey Investment Office. He was formerly vice chair of the Directors Review Committee, co-chair of the Private Equity and Venture Capital Practice, chair of the West Coast practice, and managing director of the San Francisco Office. Meehan is also a regular writer and speaker on the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors with a focus on strategy, governance, and performance measurement. He is lecturer in Strategic Management at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, where he teaches a course in Strategic Management of Nonprofits, as well as a faculty affiliate of the Center for Social Innovation and a member of the Stanford Social Innovation Review's board of advisors. Meehan is a member and former chair of the board of Philanthropic Research Inc., which operates Guidestar.org, the preeminent information source on the nonprofit sector; a member and former chair of the board of directors for the United Way of the Bay Area; a member of the board of the San Francisco Symphony; a member of the California Business Roundtable; and former member of the California Chamber of Commerce, the Committee on JOBS, and the boards of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Fordham Prep.

Ben joined Clearbrook from McKinsey & Company, where he spent five years as a member of the financial services practice advising global financial institutions on issues of corporate strategy, business building, and operations. Previously, he practiced law with Washington DC-based Covington & Burling.

Philip Dutter's distinguished career as a member of McKinsey & Company included leadership of the firm's global insurance practice for 13 years. He directed major consulting projects for 27 of the 50 largest insurance companies, including projects in Canada, Mexico and Venezuela. His client work concentrated on reviewing and developing new strategies, assessing organizational patterns, effecting organizational change, increasing sales force effectiveness, and improving profit performance. Since retiring from McKinsey, Mr. Dutter has served as independent consultant to a limited number of insurance clients. Mr. Dutter received his BS degree from Northwestern University and his MBA degree from New York University. In addition, he holds a Chartered Life Underwriter designation and was a founding member of the Institute of Management Consultants.
