Ronald J. Forest is senior vice president, operations, of Matson Navigation Company, Inc. Forest's career in the maritime industry spans 25 years and has included eight years with Matson, eight years with APL and nine years with United States Lines. Gary J. North is senior vice president, Pacific, of Matson Navigation Company in San Francisco. His association with Matson dates back to 1967, when he started with the company as a cargo planner in Hawaii's freight department. In the following three years, he held sales and booking positions in the company's freight marketing and operations departments. He transferred to San Francisco in 1970 as fleet operations supervisor. In 1971, he accepted a management position with Seatrain Lines, and in 1974 joined U.S. Lines (US). During his career at U.S. Lines, he held various senior management positions on the U.S. East and West Coast. He also served as vice president, Far East, and was based in Hong Kong for five years. In 1986, he was promoted to executive vice president, Pacific Services, and returned to the East Coast. He rejoined Matson as vice president, Area Manager, Hawaii, in 1987. In 1989 he was promoted to vice president, Operations, and transferred to Matson's headquarters in San Francisco. In 1991, he was assigned the additional responsibility of serving as president of Matson Terminals, Inc. He was made senior vice president of Matson Navigation Company in 1993. North has a B.S. in Business from Brigham Young of the Pacific. He is also a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Program for Senior Executives.
