Meat & Livestock Commission

Richard Lowe has been Marketing and Consumer Affairs Director of the Meat & Livestock Commission for 6 years. He has been responsible for the marketing of British Meat and is heavily involved in interpreting the challenges and opportunities facing the British Meat industry; ranging from issues such as global competitiveness, diet & nutrition and retailer consolidation. Prior to joining MLC Richard worked for 19 years for Allied Domecq (originally Allied Breweries), including spells as Marketing Director for Allied Domecq Inns and as Trading Director for Victoria Wine.

Peter set-up and chairs the joint MLC/Defra/NFU/IGD Red Meat Industry Forum which is delivering ways to make the red meat industry more competitive. He is Chairman of the Meat and Livestock Commission, a member of the IGD Policy Issues Council, a member of the Food Chain Centre Steering Group and Chairman of the Applied Research Forum for Farming and Food. He is a member of the Agricultural and Horticultural Levy Boards Forum and sits on the Council of the Royal Agricultural Society of England. He spent his early working life in the retail sector before joining Hazlewood Foods in 1973, becoming Chairman in 1991.
