Charles Brown joined Office Depot in May 1998 as Senior Vice President, Finance and Controller. In October 2001, he was promoted to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and once again in 2005, he was promoted to President, International for the Company. In his newly expanded role, Charles will have overall responsibility for all operations outside of North America. This includes existing company-owned operations in Europe and Japan and joint venture or license agreements in seven other countries. Prior to joining Office Depot, Charles spent two years at Denny's, Inc., where he was their Senior VP, Chief Financial Officer. Earlier in his career, he had spent 20 years at Aramark Corporation, PepsiCo and KPMG, where he held various senior level financial positions. He holds a degree in Management Science from Duke University and is a CPA.

Steven M. Schmidt was named President, North American Business Solutions Division in July 2007. Steve brings to Office Depot 30 years of diverse business expertise and leadership. Before joining the Company, Steve was with ACNielsen Corporation, the world's largest marketing information and research company, where he spent 12 years in senior management roles, most recently as President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to ACNielsen, Steve spent eight years at Pillsbury Food Company, serving as the company's President of Canada and Southeast Asia. He also held management positions at PepsiCo and Procter & Gamble. Steve is a graduate of Purdue University and holds a BA in Industrial Administration. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Steak n Shake Company.

Mike Newman was named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in August 2008. Mike came to Office Depot from Dallas-based Platinum Research Organization, where he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer until March 2008. Mike’s 30 years of financial experience includes CFO positions at Radio Shack, Intimate Brands, and Hussmann International (which was acquired by Ingersoll-Rand in 2000). He also spent 17 years at General Electric in a variety of management roles both in the United States and Europe. Additionally, Mike has worked on several start-up retail concepts and private equity transactions. Mike holds a BA in Economics from Amherst College.

Elisa D. Garcia C. was named Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary in July 2007. She has been an attorney for over 20 years. Prior to joining Office Depot, she served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary for Domino’s Pizza, Inc. in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Earlier in her career, she served as Latin American Regional Counsel for Philip Morris International and Corporate Counsel for GAF Corporation. She began her legal career as a corporate associate with Willkie, Farr & Gallagher in New York. Elisa is a graduate of the St. John’s University School of Law in New York, and also received a joint BA/MS in Political Science and Management and Policy Sciences from W. Averell Harriman College, State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her memberships include the Association of Corporate Counsels and the National Hispanic Society of MBAs. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Kevin Peters was appointed Executive Vice President, Supply Chain and Information Technology in March 2009. Kevin has more than 25 years of expertise and leadership in supply chain, including distribution center and cross dock management; inventory management as well as global imports; inbound and outbound transportation; and delivery direct to customers and to retail stores. Before joining Office Depot, he served as Senior Vice President, Supply Chain at W. W. Grainger, Inc., a supplier of facilities maintenance products serving businesses and institutions in Canada, China, Mexico and the United States. In this role, Kevin was responsible for Merchandising (products, pricing, catalog production, E-Commerce) and produced one of the leading catalogs in the industry with over 150,000 industrial products. He was also Process Leader for the company's SAP implementation, which was the largest in North America. Prior to W. W. Grainger, Kevin spent 11 years at The Home Depot. He served as Vice President and General Manager, Strategic Initiatives for Home Depot Supply in San Diego, spearheading the integration of mergers and acquisitions. In addition, Kevin was Vice President and General Manager of Home Depot Commercial Direct in Toronto, with responsibility for the business including sales, marketing, operations, fulfillment and merchandising. He has also held positions in physical distribution operations, purchasing and inventory management at McMaster-Carr Supply Company. Kevin earned an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He also holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of LaVerne.

Monica Luechtefeld is Office Depot's Executive Vice President of E-Commerce and Direct Marketing. In her role, Luechtefeld oversees our global E-Commerce strategies and is responsible for Direct Marketing in the Office Depot North American Business Solutions Division, including Advertising, Creative Production, Creative Services, Circulation & Analytics and Online Marketing. She also leverages her numerous relationships with women's organizations to expand our marketing efforts towards women business owners. Luechtefeld has been with Office Depot for 16 years. She was Vice President, Sales, at the Eastman Company when we acquired it in 1993. After joining our Company, she progressed steadily through the organization from Vice President, Marketing and Sales Administration, to Senior Vice President, E-Commerce, to Executive Vice President, E-Commerce, to Executive Vice President, IT & Business Development, and Executive Vice President, IT & Supply Chain.

Business experience: Retired since 2004; formerly Chief Executive Officer 2002-2004, President, 1999-2004, Executive Vice President – Corporate Card Sales, 1994-1999, Diners Club North America, a division of Citigroup (Charge/Credit Cards). Directorships: Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae); Office Depot, Inc.; Tenet Healthcare Corporation.

Ms. Mason has served as a Director since 2006. She currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Tuesday Morning Corporation and has served in that position since July 2000. From July 1999 to November 1999, Ms. Mason served as President of Filene’s Basement, a department store chain. From January 1997 to June 1999, Ms. Mason was President of HomeGoods, an off-price home fashion store and a subsidiary of TJX Companies. Ms. Mason was Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Cherry & Webb, a women’s specialty store, from February 1987 to December 1996. Prior to those dates, she held management positions at Kaufmann’s Division of the May Company, Mervyn’s Division of Target, Inc. and the Limited. She is also a Director of Genesco, Inc.

Mr. Austrian is a Class I Director and has served as a Director of the Company and as Chairman of the Nominating Committee since December 2003. He has been a member of the Compensation Committee since February 2008. Mr. Austrian is a private investor. He served as Interim Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Office Depot, Inc. from 2004 to 2005 where continues to serve as a Director. Mr. Austrian served as President and Chief Operating Officer of the National Football League and was a Managing Director of Dillon, Read & Co., Inc.

Mr. Hedrick has been a Director since 1991. From November 1986 until April 1991, he was a Director of The Office Club, Inc., which was acquired by Office Depot in 1991. He was a founder and has been a general partner of InterWest Partners, a venture capital fund, since 1979. Mr. Hedrick is also a Director of Hot Topic, Inc. and in December 2006, he joined the Board of Directors of the American Funds Target Date Retirement Series Inc. and America Funds Insurance Series Inc.
