It recycles scrap metals which it supplies to electric-arc furnace mills, integrated steel mills, foundries, secondary smelters, and metals brokers. It also processes aluminum, stainless steel, nickel-bearing metals, copper, brass, titanium, and high-temperature alloys. In April 2006, it sold its Southern Recycling, L.L.C. to European Metal Recycling Ltd. (EMR) for $161.4 million in cash.
