Carl T. Swenson founded Milsco in November of 1924. Milsco at that time manufactured and sold harnesses, collars and other accessories for farm horses. The original name of the company was Milwaukee Saddlery Company. Through an employee suggestion, Milsco designed a tractor seat with a foam pad and leather cover in 1936. This was a new breakthrough since most tractor seats consisted of a metal pan and nothing more. It was submitted to International Harvester who offered the seat as an option for their equipment in 1937. 37,000 seats were sold the first year.
