Ed Mahoney was appointed Micron’s Vice President of Information Systems on July 1, 1997. He joined the company in October 1981 and for the next 15 years developed his technical perspective by working in a variety of areas in information technology. This included creating software applications in multiple programming languages for all of Micron's major functional areas, ranging from manufacturing to engineering, to administration. Ed also acquired valuable IT infrastructure experience working in systems programming, systems management, and creating software development tools. For the following 10 years, with Micron's transition from a small memory chip company in Boise to an international semiconductor provider with global reach and new manufacturing operations in Utah, Virginia, Europe and Asia, Ed oversaw the overhaul of Micron's IT infrastructure and IT business processes. More recently, Ed's efforts have been focused on sponsoring an enterprise architecture approach to align information technology capabilities with Micron strategic objectives. This focus on Micron's future includes the implementation of formal and disciplined project management to ensure on-time delivery of high-value initiatives, and the transformation from being a technology provider to being an IT service provider, using an industry standard, continuous service improvement program.
Mr. Mahoney graduated from Boise State University in 1981, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems. He has been a member of the Boise State University School of Business and is currently on the Advisory Board of Highway 12, a high tech venture capital group. Ed is also an active member in the Boise Area CIO Forum sponsored by Boise State University.

Chris handles a diverse portfolio of technologies in the physical sciences. Having been cited in both the Legal 500 and the Guide to the World's Leading Experts in Patent Law, Chris is frequently engaged by international clients seeking doggedness, experience and, above all, results, in strategic patent prosecution and opposition and appeal proceedings in the European Patent Office. Chris is lead counsel for Micron Technology, Inc., one of the world's leading providers of advanced semiconductor solutions, in a successful bid to revoke a series of European patents held by Rambus, Inc., that are alleged to cover standards-compliant SDRAM and DDR-SDRAM, the market in which is worth billions. These paradigm cases have provided valuable insights into a series of complex legal issues concerning the extent to which applicants for European patents can redefine the inventions for which they are seeking protection, and Chris is actively contributing to the further development of the law by making extensive submissions to the Enlarged Board of Appeal in pending cases. Chris advised from a European perspective on the terms of the Patent Reform Bill 2005, presented to the US Congress in June 2005. Chris handles the interests of a number of international players including medical devices businesses, OEMs in the automotive sector and IT and telecommunications service providers, and takes a particular interest in the vexed question of patentability of software in Europe . Chris is a qualified litigator and has litigated patents in all English courts, including the House of Lords, and in France and Germany . He is a scholar of St. Peter's College, Oxford University , from which he graduated with a first class degree in physics, and during his professional career has spent time serving on the Executive Committee of a major international law firm. Chris is a member of British Cycling and regularly participates in time trials and road races.
