MICROS Systems, Inc. is a leading worldwide designer, manufacturer, marketer, and servicer of enterprise information solutions for the global hospitality and specialty retail industries. MICROS Systems, Inc. was incorporated in the State of Maryland in 1977 as Picos Manufacturing, Inc. and, in 1978, changed its name to MICROS Systems, Inc. References to "MICROS," the "Company," "we," "us," and "our" herein include the operations of MICROS Systems, Inc. and also our subsidiaries on a consolidated basis, unless the context indicates otherwise. Our fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30, and so that references to a fiscal year mean the 12-month period ending June 30 of that year; i.e., fiscal year 2008 means the 12-month period ending June 30, 2008. We operate in two reportable segments for financial reporting purposes: U.S. and International. You can find financial information for each reportable segment, as well as certain financial information about geographic areas, in Note 18, "Segment Information" in our Notes to Consolidated Financial Statements included in this Annual Report on Form 10-K. In each of these two reportable segments, we have developed an infrastructure through which we license and sell all of our products and services. While the products and services that are sold may be configured for each segment to address local issues, laws, tax requirements and customer preferences, the products and services are substantively similar worldwide.

Timothy J. Colligan '86 HRIM is director of leisure and entertainment, hotel and resort sales for MICROS Systems, a Columbia, Maryland-based company that provides information technology services, consulting and support for hospitality and retail clients throughout the world. After graduating from Penn State, Colligan successfully completed Marriott Corporation's management program and went on to hold various positions with increased responsibilities with Marriott in executive sales, catering sales, restaurant management and catering services management. Five years later, he made the transition into foodservice sales and held positions in area foodservice distribution sales, national chain account sales and director of foodservice before joining MICROS. Colligan received his MBA in marketing from Loyola College (Maryland) in 2001. However, Penn State remains a special place for him, his wife Judie ('85, Finance) and their children Noelle and TJ (potential members of the classes of 2017 and 2023, respectively). He also enjoys his role as an active member of the PSHRS board.
