Donald Leighton Garwood has been named vice president and senior property manager for Hawaiian Properties. Garwood has more than 22 years of experience in property management and real estate. His past work experience includes working for Metropolitan Management, Certified Management, and Hawaiiana Management Company.

Jason Hartman has been promoted to vice president and audit consultant in the Internal Audit/Credit Review Department for Bank of Hawaii. In his new position, Hartman will oversee audit programs for the bank's various business units and evaluate control systems and operating procedures.

Manu Boyd has been named cultural director of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. He worked previously as public information director for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.

Michael Cathey has been hired as director of financial planning and analysis for Mobi PCS. Cathey will be responsible for forecasting and financial reporting in his position as director of financial planning and analysis.

Sumiko Midorikawa has been promoted to regional marketing and public relations manager-Asia for Hilton Hotels. She previously served as the regional sales and marketing coordinator, lending sales and marketing support to the Far East division.

Travis Farmer has been named information system manager for Energy Industries. He has more than nine years' experience working in the technology field as a network administrator for the Navy.

Sherri Yim has been named senior vice president and controller for First Hawaiian Bank. She was previously senior vice president and controller at Central Pacific Bank. Yim has more than 20 years of experience in financial and business management.

Andy Baldwin, Navy doctor and star of this year's ABC hit show The Bachelor, is co-host of the event, and that fits in perfectly with Aloha Medical Mission as he has participated in some of its missions. AMM provides free health care to under-served people in Hawaii and oversees.

Bernadette Shimono has been promoted to vice president of finance for Hawaii Public Radio (HPR). Shimono has experience as an accountant/accounts receivable supervisor at Chaminade University. She joined HPR as controller in 1992.

Grady Chun has been appointed district general agent for Colonial Supplemental Insurance. Chun also is a financial consultant and adviser for Linsco/Private Ledger and a registered investment adviser. He previously served with AXA Advisors LLC in Honolulu and San Francisco.

Jimmy Liuhas been named HomeLoan manager of Central Pacific HomeLoans. In this position, Liu will be responsible for the development and leadership of Central Pacific's new branch in Kaimuki. He has seven years of industry experience as a team leader for GMAC.

Laura Ayers has been promoted to associate project architect for Philip K. White and Associates. Ayers has been with the firm for six years. She has managed several commercial and high-end residential projects.

Laurie Kaneshiro has been named principal for Kober, Hanssen, Mitchell Architects. Kaneshiro has nearly 30 years of extensive interior design experience ranging from design of commercial interiors for hospitality and healthcare sectors to tenant improvement.

Peggy Sucher was recently elected to the board of directors for The Alliance of Professional Tattooists (APT). Sucher is a health instructor and lecturer for the APT and the National Tattoo Association. She also is a cosmetic tattooist at Skin Deep Tattoo Waikiki.

City and County of Honolulu Prosecuting Attorney Peter Carlisle won his fourth - and possible last - term in the position during the recent election. While his courtroom victories are what he's most famous for, he calls a surfing trophy and his car, a blue Mustang, his most prized possessions.

Randy Obata has been named press secretary for U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie in the Honolulu office. Obata has worked as press secretary and communications director to Lt. Gov. and then Gov. Ben Cayetano, and press secretary to former U.S. Rep. Ed Case.

Scott Kuioka has been promoted to vice president for Bank of Hawaii, where he previously served as assistant vice president. Kuioka will continue his duties as a portfolio manager in the Private Client Asset Management department. He also will be responsible for providing comprehensive portfolio management and analytic tools for individual clients.
