Midwest Petroleum Corporation was founded in 1946 by Mr. & Mrs. Louis Levin. Since 1946 Midwest Petroleum has functioned without interruption, first as a wholesale distributor of gasoline and fuel products, and now as a convenience store operator. Midwest currently operates over 50 stores located in Missouri and Illinois area, and services multiple dealer locations. The corporate headquarters is located in Saint Louis City at 6760 Southwest Ave. Over the years Midwest Petroleum has acquired several smaller companies including the real property owned by these firms. During the 1970's, with deteriorating fuel prices and independent dealer's market shares falling to larger branded oil companies, Midwest started to make the transition from wholesale distributor to convenience store operator. One of the companies which had been acquired during this period was Bolch Oil. By using the existing Midwest locations and the new Bolch Oil properties, Midwest began to rapidly expand operations. As a result of the rapid expansion and devastating market conditions of the late 70's early 80's, Midwest faced serious financial problems. As a result Midwest was forced to seek protection under Chapter 11. After a short reorganization period Midwest Petroleum turned into a success story, and the company has never looked back. Don has been in the convenience store industry since 1971. He began his career by leasing his first location at the age of 19. After successfully owning and operating multiple convenience store locations and creating a profitable movie rental business Don accepted the position of General Manager for Midwest Petroleum in 1988. He progressed with Midwest Petroleum to become President in 1993. Midwest Petroleum has shown strong and consistent profitability since 1993.
