Nicole King specializes in bio-science leadership and management for Dynamic Learning Systems. She is an Assistant Professor in the departments of Molecular and Cell Biology (Division of Genetics, Genomics, and Development) and of Integrative Biology at the University of California at Berkeley, and she is a member of the Center for Integrative Genomics. Nicole leads a research team that studies the origin and evolution of the animal genome, and focuses on the transition to multicellularity. Having worked in five very different research settings prior to starting her own lab at the UC-Berkeley, Nicole has experienced a wide array of research management styles and situations, ranging from highly effective, high performing teams to utterly disastrous ones. Nicole is therefore dedicated to identifying and implementing successful leadership and management strategies in her own work and in our clients organizations. As a consultant with Dynamic Learning Systems, Nicole s expertise and experience as a successful scientist, team leader, and manager gives her a unique and focused insight. With an intimate understanding of the context, she applies Dynamic Learning Systems technology for creating safe-to-day, innovative environments in a way that leads to the greatest possible leverage for our biotech clients. Nicole holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Harvard University. She is a MacArthur Foundation Fellow (2005), a Pew Scholar in the Biomedical Sciences (2004), and recipient of the George Bartholomew Award in Integrative Physiology (2004). She has published in Science, Nature, Developmental Cell, and PNAS. Her passions include the outdoors (hiking and sculling) and her family, especially her newborn son, Nathaniel.
