Robert J. Samuelson is the Chief Financial Officer of Monitor Group, LP. Mr. Samuelson has been in this position since January, 1997. Previously he was the CFO at Nordic Track. Mr. Samuelson also holds numerous seats of financial & managerial positions at Monitor Group, including Monitor Ventures, Monitor Clipper Partners, Monitor Merchant Banking, Market 2 Customer and Treasurer of the Group in it's entirety. Mr. Samuelson is a member of Monitor's Office of the Chairman and of the Consulting Group's Global Operating Executive. Mr. Samuelson received his M.B.A. from Harvard and his undergraduate degree from Williams College.

Tom Copeland is chief corporate finance officer and head of Monitor Corporate Finance. He has been a consultant to over 200 companies in 34 countries around the world, and is a leading authority on valuation. He is co-author, with J. Fred Weston, of Financial Theory and Corporate Policy and Managerial Finance. With Tim Koller and Jack Murrin, he has co-authored Valuation: Measuring and Managing the Value of Companies. Copeland received his B.A. in economics from Johns Hopkins University and MBA in finance from the Wharton School, where he graduated second in his class. Copeland's Ph.D. in applied economics was granted by the University of Pennsylvania.

Bansi Nagji is a Venture Partner with Monitor Ventures and Senior Partner of Monitor Group. Bansi brings extensive knowledge and experience in marketing and organizational strategy, with particular emphasis on the global pharmaceutical and health-care industries. Prior to the Monitor Group, he worked as an attorney in London advising clients on corporate finance and tax-related cases. Bansi holds a BA from Cambridge University and an MBA from INSEAD.

Josh is a Partner of Monitor Group and the leader of Monitor's Adaptive Overhead practice. Josh has over 12 years of experience helping clients improve the performance of their overhead investments. He began his career as a consultant at CSC Index. Josh received an MBA and a Masters degree in public policy from the University of Chicago. He received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University and was a Fulbright scholar in Germany.

Monitor's research suggests that while the financial meltdown claimed a number of hedge funds, those funds with activist strategies are worth watching. This report, by Michael Armstrong and Jonathan Joffe from Monitor's Integrated Strategy and Finance practice, describes typical behaviors of shareholder activists and how CEOs and boards of directors can deal with them.

William Miracky is a partner at the Monitor Group based in the Cambridge, Massachusetts. Since joining the firm in 1993, Bill has managed client relationships and projects in both Monitor's core strategy consulting practice and its M&A advisory group. Bill's current work is at the CEO and board levels of a number of Monitor's largest relationship clients. Prior to joining Monitor, Bill developed significant public sector experience through his service in the economic research division of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. In addition to his client work at Monitor, Bill has done pro bono work for the Massachusetts Governor's Council on Economic Growth and Technology on issues surrounding regional macro-economic growth. Bill has worked with Bell, a New Profit portfolio organization, as a coach to Earl Martin Phalen, the CEO and founder of Bell.

Aimee Jo Matthews graduated from George Mason University with a BA degree. She brings over 15 years of professional experience in management, customer service and accounting. Her duties in business development involve all aspects of client and media events and communications. Additionally, she oversees the firm's human resources department. She also serves as Manager of Information with management responsibility for maintenance of the firm's client and vendor databases.

Derrick Dansereau received his bachelor's degree from George Mason University in Virginia. He has extensive experience in portfolio management and operations. Derrick supervises day-to-day portfolio activities including portfolio design, transfer, implementation, trading, quarterly reporting and billing. Derrick performs investment research and serves on The Monitor Group's Investment Committee. Derrick serves as the Director of Compliance. Derrick also serves as Manager of Information Systems. He spearheaded several technology projects including a proprietary client website reporting system, a comprehensive firm intranet linking multiple databases, and the conversion of the firm's paper files to a paperless electronic system.

Eric Faulkner graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia with a bachelor's degree in marketing and a MBA. Eric joined The Monitor Group after working for three years in the federal technology transfer industry. During this time, Eric worked closely with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on forming partnerships with the private sector. Eric manages the Business Development Department. He is tasked with increasing public awareness of the firm's exclusive services and expert professionals.

Laura creates and manages a wide range of communication and design projects for Monitor Networks. Her responsibilities span across functional areas of design, technology and marketing building channels in support of the group's network communications efforts.

Aboud Yaqub joined Monitor Group in 1998 and became a member of Marketspace at its inception in 1999. Since then, he has worked with clients to develop digital and multi-channel strategies in the healthcare, financial services, information services, consumer products and retail sectors. Aboud helped pioneer the development of Marketspace's Channel PathwaysTM methodology for orchestrating superior multi-interface strategies. He has led project teams to help clients: select, prioritize and deploy new marketing and sales channels, allocate budget across channels, create superior customer experiences, and right-channel customer interactions. Aboud's most recent experiences have been focused in financial services and healthcare. He led a team to assist a large financial services client redesign its interface strategy to accelerate new customer acquisition and lower acquisition and service costs by migrating more customer interactions to self-service channels. Aboud also recently helped design and implement the digital marketing strategy used in the most successful medical device launch in history. Prior to joining Monitor, Aboud worked at the Corporate Executive Board in Washington, D.C., and for Deutsche Bank in Germany. Aboud graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University in 1998 with a B.A. in Business Administration and a concentration in Finance.

Adrian currently works as a management consultant with Monitor Group in Toronto. During his three years with the firm, he has worked for Fortune 500 companies in numerous industries, and currently manages undergraduate recruiting for the Canadian practice. He previously completed an investment banking internship with Goldman Sachs in New York. He holds a B.Com. (First Class Honours) from Queen's University, where he was actively involved in student government. He has served volunteer stints in such places as Iqualuit, Nunavut and Provence, France. His passions are music (A.R.C.T. Piano), exotic food, NFL football and travelling.

Andrew Heyward is a nationally recognized media expert whose particular area of expertise is the rapidly shifting media landscape. Andrew is a senior advisor to Marketspace LLC, a subsidiary of Monitor Group that specializes in helping companies use digital technology to drive growth and revenue by enhancing customer interactions. He works with clients to create and strengthen original online content, make more effective use of broadband video, deepen engagement through online communities, and develop new business models for the digital era.

Andy is an accomplished professional with over 10 years of experience across the management consulting and high-tech industries. Prior to a contract position as a Senior Manager at The Loyalty Group in 2004, Andy was a Senior Consultant for GE Insource, a company focused on consulting to the insurance and financial services industry on product distribution and marketing, as well as new concept development. Mr. Crysdale's other past employers include The Monitor Group, Archer Enterprise Systems and D-Link Canada Inc. Andy holds a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens University and he has also completed his Canadian Securities Course.

Barbara Kibbe is a senior consultant with the Monitor Institute. She has 25 years of experience in social sector issues and organizations holding many and diverse roles. She has been an executive director, consultant, grant maker and foundation executive. From 2003 through 2005, she served as Vice President for Program and Effectiveness of the Skoll Foundation where she was responsible for designing and implementing grant making programs as well as a system for measuring results of the Foundation's overall work. From 1996 to 2003 she was on the staff of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, where she ultimately served as Director of the Organizational Effectiveness and Philanthropy Program, directing a total of $100 million in grants over six years. Prior to her work inside foundations, Barbara was an active consultant to nonprofits and foundations. She co-founded Harder+Kibbe Research and Consulting in 1987. Her consulting clients have included community, family and corporate foundations, as well as a wide range of health, human service and cultural organizations. Barbara is the coauthor of two books: Succeeding with Consultants and Grantmaking Basics. She is a founder of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations which represents more than 700 funders and is dedicated to building knowledge, promoting learning and encouraging dialogue on nonprofit and grantmaker effectiveness. Barbara was twice selected by The Nonprofit Times for its annual list of the 50 most powerful and influential people in the nonprofit sector.

Bruce Chew, an authority on technology and operations management, joined Monitor Group in 1993 and works as founding member and principal of Monitoron and logistics, managing complexity and effective product development. Chew is a former Harvard Business School professor. At HBS Chew taught executive and MBA classes on manufacturing.

Chris Argyris (born July 16, 1923 in Newark, New Jersey, USA) is an American business theorist, Professor Emeritus at Harvard Business School, and a Thought Leader at Monitor Group[1]. He is commonly known for seminal work in the area of "Learning Organizations". Action Science, one of Argyris' collaborative works with Robert Putnam and Diana McLain Smith, developed together with Donald SchA n as well, advocates an approach to research that focuses on generating knowledge that is useful in solving practical problems. Other key concepts developed by Argyris include Ladder of Inference, Double-Loop Learning, Theory of Action/Espoused Theory/Theory-in-use, High Advocacy/High Inquiry dialogue and Actionable Knowledge.

Monitor CEO Joe Fuller draws on his expertise in governance and corporate strategy, as well as his extensive dealings with Korea's largest and leading companies, to highlight issues of global governance and strategy that will impact the future development of Korean international competitiveness.

Kenneth Robinson graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from the Virginia Military Institute and received his master's degree in finance from Georgia State University. A candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst program, Ken is a former instructor for Virginia Commonwealth University's CFPTM certificate course. He serves on the Government Relations Committee for the FPANCA. Ken conducts client meetings, performs client retirement planning analyses and oversees client portfolio management. He serves on The Monitor Group's Investment Committee and previously served as Director of Portfolio Operations for the firm.

Mark Steppel received his bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Economics and his Master's in Management degree from Yale University. Prior to joining The Monitor Group, Mark gained more than 10 years of finance experience by working for companies such as Verizon, MCI, UUNET and U.S. News & World Report magazine. Mark is part of the client relations team. He is responsible for day-to-day client portfolio activities, assisting the firm's financial planners in operations and meetings, and answering client inquiries. Mark passed the CFP examination in 2004, and will earn the CFP designation upon completion of the professional experience requirements.

Michael Abraham has been a software architect and consultant with Monitor Software since 1998. During that time, he has worked on the design and implementation of large and small Decision Support Systems in a number of industries including telecommunications, agribusiness, and electric power generation/distribution. Since 2003 Michael has focused primarily on developing commercial products based on Monitor IP and methodologies in the areas of Marketing, Human Asset Management, and Innovation Management. Prior to joining Monitor, Michael worked for a IT consultancy with a focus on administrative systems for higher education, and prior to that for a DOD contractor with a focus on embedded weapons control systems.

Nina Foster graduated with a bachelor's degree in management from George Mason University in Virginia. She has been quoted in MorningstarAdvisor.com and is currently a candidate for the CFP designation. Nina is a member of the client relations team. She is responsible for day-to-day client portfolio activities, assisting the firm's financial planners in operations and meetings, and answering client inquiries. She researches client issues in preparation for client meetings and assists in the dissemination of data to internal departments. In addition, she is involved in training staff.

Nishant Lalwani is a senior consultant at Monitor Group and is based in Mumbai, India. He is a part of Monitor Inclusive Markets. Currently Nishant is working on a multi-sponsor, market-based solutions study to identify and scale up the most promising commercially viable approaches in India. He is leading several pieces of work in healthcare, energy and finance; including a viability assessment of village water filtration plants and a project that seeks to expand the scope of microfinance channels for distribution of non-credit products. Before Monitor, Nishant worked with the United Nations Development Programme in Zambia, where he helped develop new financing products for microfinance institutions across the country. He also spent several years in London and New York with Marakon Associates, a boutique strategy consulting firm. During this time he worked on a wide range of projects with some of the world's largest companies, including a high-level strategy for a Swiss pharmaceutical firm and a new market growth plan for a British confectionary maker. Nishant has also worked part-time with NGOs in Africa (Link Community Development) and India (Dalit Foundation) and he continues to be involved with similar causes on an ongoing, pro-bono basis. He has a Master's in Aeronautical Engineering and a Bachelor's in General Engineering from Cambridge University, UK. He has also published academic papers in conjunction with the Aeronautics and Astronautics Group of M.I.T., Boston. Nishant was born and raised in the UK but has recently moved to India.

Paul Williams was his high school Valedictorian and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in resource management from Virginia Tech focusing on family financial management. While a student at Virginia Tech, Paul was involved in the Residential Leadership Community. Paul is a member of the client relations team and provides support for the firm's financial planners in planning, daily operations and client meetings. Paul will take the written CFP certification exam in 2007.

Ronald Jonash is head of Innovation Management Inc., a Monitor Group Company, and was previously managing director of the Technology and Innovation Management Practice at Arthur D. Little. Ron specializes in the strategic management of technology and innovation, R&D, and the management of product creation and product development to create and capture maximum company value.

Steve Starnes graduated with bachelor's degrees in Economics and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan. Prior to joining The Monitor Group, Steve was involved with business development and financial planning for a wealth management firm in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Steve is part of the client relations team and provides support for the firm's financial planners in planning, daily operations and client meetings. He is also involved with upgrading the firm's database software. Steve passed the CFP examination in 2006, and will earn the CFP designation upon completion of the professional experience requirements.

Tanya Giovacchini is a Monitor Networks affiliate and a senior member of the Monitor Networks leadership team. She is responsible for day-to-day coordination of the group's operations and strategy. Tanya brings over 25 years of business strategy and marketing consulting experience to Monitor Networks. Most recently, Tanya was the VP of Marketing for Cetacean Networks, a next generation networking technology start-up. She was responsible for marketing, strategy and product management. Prior to her years at Cetacean Networks, Tanya spent 14 years as a Vice President with Mercer Management Consulting most recently coordinating the NA Communications, Information and Entertainment (CIE) Industry practice and directed its marketing efforts. Earlier in her career Tanya consulted with Cresap McCormick & Paget and Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

Rajeev Singh-Molares is Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development for Alcatel-Lucent. Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent, Rajeev Singh-Molares was a Partner of the Monitor Group, a global professional services firm that combines strategy consulting and merchant banking. While at Monitor he held several management positions responsible for client development and relationships, regional operations, and consulting. Before that, Rajeev Singh-Morales was at Chemical Bank in its Banking and Corporate Finance, Latin America Division. He holds an International Business Diploma from the United Nations International School, a Bachelor's degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, and a Master's degree in International Affairs from Yale University.

Stephen M. Jennings is a partner and director of the Monitor Group where he has managed domestic and international projects and relationships in a wide variety of industries, ranging from pharmaceuticals and financial services to consumer goods manufacturing and primary metals. He has also done considerable work in the area of corporate strategy and the enhancement of shareholder value. Steve is a member of Monitor's Office of the Chairman and of the Consulting Group's Global Operating Executive with specific responsibilities for North American operations. Steve is an investor in New Profit, Inc. and has been actively involved in New Profit activities over the years. In addition to advising the Institute on its next phase, Steve is partnering closely with the Institute on the development and application of approaches to address the role that corporations play in creating social benefit.

Tom Craig is a partner and co-founder of Monitor Group. Tom currently works in the Office of the Chairman with responsibilities for leadership development, leadership training, communication, integrating Group activities and leading special group projects. With a love of teaching, Tom has more than 25 years experience leading and facilitating various senior executive groups on topics related to building winning strategies. Tom has directed over 300 projects during the last 20 years in more than 100 industries. He has served his community in various capacities including on the board of his church, as a long-time soccer coach, with the Scouts, and as a consultant and counselor to various not-for-profit organizations.
