Mr. Brian is a partner in the Los Angeles firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, specializing in complex civil and criminal litigation. He has earned a reputation as one of the premier trial attorneys in the country, and has been recognized as such by the National Law Journal, California Lawyer, The Best Lawyers in America, Los Angeles Daily Journal, Los Angeles Magazine and Chambers USA. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Brian has represented a multitude of Fortune 500 corporations (GE, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, AXA Financial, Warner Bros., General Dynamics, Litton, Teledyne, and PETsMART to name a few) in a wide variety of large commercial lawsuits and arbitrations, often the companies' most significant cases. Mr. Brian has been active in the leadership of the ABA Litigation Section since 1986 and is the past President of the LA Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He has taught trial advocacy at the University of Southern California Law Center, Harvard Law School's trial advocacy program, and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Mr. Brian is active in a variety of pro bono and community activities. He has served on the boards of the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, Western Justice Center Foundation, Joffrey Ballet, the Los Angeles County Music Center and the Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools. CARY LERMAN has been a partner of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP since 1976. He graduated from UCLA Law School (1972), where he served as Notes and Comments Editor of the UCLA Law Review. In addition to general commercial litigation, Mr. Lerman's practice is concentrated in four areas: Since approximately 1985, Mr. Lerman's practice has included representing policyholders in insurance coverage litigation, analyzing insurance issues for clients of the firm, and advising clients on restructuring their corporate insurance programs. Mr. Lerman's practice in this area began with the Asbestos Insurance Coverage Litigation, where he was the principal trial lawyer from MT&O in the litigation. Since the Asbestos Insurance Coverage Litigation, Mr. Lerman has represented and continues to represent nationally-known companies in litigation and in counseling on insurance coverage issues involving general liability policies, officer and director liability policies, fidelity bond and crime policies, electronic errors and omissions policies, environmental impairment policies, engineering and architecture liability policies, and first party property damage policies. These matters involve insurance coverage for environmental contamination, construction defects, product liability, securities law violations, employee theft, mass tort personal injury claims, and advertising, trademark copyright and privacy violations. Mr. Lerman has successfully tried general insurance coverage and bad faith claims. He won a $2 million plus verdict against a national insurance company under a third party, liability policy, obtaining a finding of bad faith and punitive damages for the insurer's failure to contribute to a settlement of a third-party action. DENNIS BROWN is a litigation partner in the Los Angeles office of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP. Katherine M. Forster Katherine M. Forster is a labor and employment lawyer at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP. Ms. Forster represents management in a wide range of employment litigation matters, with a particular emphasis on class action defense, and advises clients on compliance with state and federal employment laws. Ms. Forster received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and her law degree from the University of Southern California, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as a legal writing instructor and as Executive Senior Editor of the Southern California Law Review. Prior to joining Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edward Rafeedie, Senior United States District Judge for the Central District of California. Ms. Forster has been a WLALA member for seven years and served on the Board of Governors as USC Liaison and as Co-Chair of the Pro-Choice and Reproductive Rights Committee before becoming an officer. MANUEL F. CACHAN is a partner in our Firm's Los Angeles office. His practice focuses on providing counsel and representation in a wide variety of civil litigation matters, including consumer fraud class actions, legal malpractice actions, and complex contract and tort suits. In 2008, Mr. Cachan was selected as a Southern California "Rising Star" by California Super Lawyers magazine. Mr. Cachan has provided litigation and counseling services to leading California and national companies, including Occidental Petroleum Corporation, Philip Morris USA, Universal Music Group, Univision Communications, and Tesoro Refining and Marketing Company. A fluent Spanish speaker, Mr. Cachan particularly enjoys representing companies with business dealings in Latin America in U.S. litigation concerning those business dealings. For example, Mr.
Marc received his B.A. from York University (1983) and his LL.B from Osgoode Hall Law School (1986), where he was the Gold Medalist and received the Viscount Bennett Fellowship awarded annually to the most outstanding law student in Canada. MIKE O'SULLIVAN is a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP. Prior to joining the firm in 1996, he was associated with the Los Angeles office of Sullivan & Cromwell. Mr. O'Sullivan practices business law, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and securities law. He has worked on a wide variety of merger and acquisition transactions, including public and private company mergers, stock purchases and asset sales, as well as numerous securities offerings, both public and private. He has represented companies in many industries, including banking, insurance, homebuilding, entertainment, chemicals and biotechnology. Mr. O'Sullivan graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in American history. ROB KNAUSS is a corporate partner in the Los Angeles firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP. Mr. Knauss joined Munger, Tolles & Olson in 1981 and has concentrated on general corporate and partnership law, focusing primarily on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities. He serves as primary general counsel to several publicly traded and privately held companies and represents several private equity firms. He has also counseled the boards of directors of several publicly traded companies with respect to various business transactions and corporate investigations. Mr. Knauss has also represented several investment banking firms in corporate securities transactions. Prior to joining Munger, Tolles & Olson, Mr. Knauss served as note editor of the Michigan Law Review. He then served as a law clerk to Judge Walter R. Mansfield of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit during the 1979-1980 term and as a law clerk for Justice William H. Rehnquist of the United States Supreme Court during the 1980-1981 term. Mr. Knauss is a frequent lecturer on securities law topics and has served on the Executive Committee of the Business and Corporations Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Ronald L. Olson is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP. Mr. Olson has practiced law with the firm since 1968. Mr. Olson also is a director of Berkshire Hathaway, Edison International, City National Corporation, The Washington Post Company, and Western Asset Trusts. He serves as a director of several non-profits, including the RAND Corporation (formerly chair), the Mayo Clinic, the Council of Foreign Relations, Southern California Public Radio (formerly chair), and the California Institute of Technology. He was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Claremont University Center and Graduate School from 1984-94. Mr. Olson’s practice involves a combination of litigation and corporate counseling. He counsels individual executives and boards of directors in a range of matters, including transaction and corporate governance issues. Throughout his career, Mr. Olson has been the lead partner in numerous high-profile matters where clients have looked to the firm for advice and representation. Mr. Olson also has represented AOL Time Warner in securities actions arising from the merger of AOL and Time Warner; Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. in shareholder class actions and derivative cases arising from financial restatements; and Mattel in a lawsuit over “Barbie Doll” rights. Mr. Olson received his B.S. degree from Drake University in 1963, his J.D. degree from the University of Michigan in 1966, and a Diploma in Law from Oxford University, England, in 1967, at which time he was the recipient of a Ford Foundation fellowship. In 1967, Mr. Olson was an attorney for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice and in 1968 clerked for Chief Judge David L. Bazelon, United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Mr. Olson was formerly Chairman of the Standing Committee on Federal Judiciary (1991-92), Chairman of the Litigation Section (1981-82), and Chairman of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (1976-86) of the American Bar Association, and was Vice President of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of California (1986-87). He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Olson has received a number of awards for public service and pro bono activities.

Malcolm A. Heinicke joined the Board of Directors of the SFMTA in 2008. Malcolm is an attorney at Munger, Tolles & Olson in San Francisco. Prior to joining the SFMTA Board, Mr. Heinicke was a Commissioner on the San Francisco Taxicab Commission and served as Chair of the Taxicab Charter Reform Working Group. Mr. Heinicke and his family live in San Francisco and regularly use Muni's light rail system as well as the City's taxicabs. As a Taxicab Commissioner, Mr. Heinicke focused on neighborhood and peak time service issues, and he is focusing on these same issues as a member of the SFMTA Board.
