Dr. Alan Kinniburgh is Chief Executive Officer of the National Hemophilia Foundation. Since assuming this position in 2005, he has strengthened the nonprofit organization in a variety of ways. One early initiative was establishing the NHF's Department of Public Policy. The department focuses on state and federal issues that are important to the bleeding disorders community, such as lifetime insurance caps and Medicare co-payments. Prior to joining NHF, Dr. Kinniburgh was Senior Vice President of Research at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Dr. Kinniburgh also worked as a cancer researcher at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., where he founded the Institute's Laboratory of Molecular Diagnostics

As the first Vice President for the new Public Policy department, Glenn Mones is responsible for the articulation and advancement of NHF's positions on public policy matters. Glenn also oversees all activities concerning advocacy and government relations. Glenn was appointed to this new position in March 2005. For more than three years, he was NHF's Director of Communications and Marketing. Before joining NHF, Glenn spent several years as a member of the Public Policy Management team at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, where he helped craft and promote that organization's policies on a wide range of health issues. He was also involved in related activities during his six years at UJA Federation of New York.

Neil Frick oversees a newly structured department that combines all NHF research programs, medical information and NHF's information resource center, HANDI. In addition, he currently serves as the co-chair of the NHF Blood Safety Working Group. Neil previously was the Manager of HANDI for more than six years where he developed a broad expertise in bleeding disorders information and resources. Neil has been the managing editor of many NHF educational publications. Before joining this organization, Neil was the Director of the Health Education Resource Center at St. John's University. He received a Master's degree in Education, specializing in Rehabilitation Counseling, and an undergraduate degree in Communications.

Marie Cramer oversees all strategic and operational Human Resources initiatives, including the creation and management of organizational practices and procedures to strengthen the organization's infrastructure. Prior to coming to NHF in 2003, Marie was Director of Administration Services for Developmental Disabilities Institute, a regional nonprofit organization providing education, therapeutic and residential services to children and adults. She has consulted with similar organizations on human resources and general business management. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and earned an MBA in Management from Hofstra University. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Fairfield University in Connecticut.

Adam Wilmers is currently a graduate Student at Michigan State University, studying Human Resource Management and School Counseling. Adam has been on the board of the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan since 2002, and currently serves as the second vice president. A former member of NHF's National Youth Leadership Institute, Adam has also worked at several camps for children with bleeding disorders, in Michigan, California and Illinois. Adam's passion lies in the field of education, specifically working with children and young adults who have bleeding disorders. He is excited to be a part of the NHF board as the organization shifts to best serve its owners needs.

Michael J. Bornhorst is Financial Consultant and Vice President of McDonald Investments, KeyBank in Westlake, Ohio. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland and served on the University Hospitals of Cleveland Parent Advisory Board. Bornhorst is the secretary of the Northern Ohio Hemophilia Foundation. He has knowledge and experience in the areas of fund raising, information and education, resource development, research and treatment, and finance and investments.

Mike O'Connor is retired from 20 years at the Mayo Clinic where he served as a project manager and a radiation oncology physicist. Now living in Mesa, Arizona, he was a member of NHF's transition board member and has served as president, vice president and general board member of NHF's Arizona chapter. O'Connor spearheaded development of a bleeding disorders summer camp in Arizona and was involved in the creation of fundraising and educational events. O'Connor has knowledge and experience in the areas of fund raising, public relations and advocacy.
Phil Kucab is a pre-medical student (undergraduate) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is also a research assistant for a project related to Factor VIII mutant constructs. Kucab served as an NHF interim board member, is camp director for Camp Bold Eagle and Eagle Expedition, is a member of Hemophilia of Michigan's board and chair of the Board Development Committee. He has served as chair of NHF's Youth Leadership Task Force and is now mentor. His fundraising involvement includes a video production netting outside donor dollars for HFM and golf outings for HFM. Kucab has knowledge and experience in the areas of fund raising, public relations, advocacy and research and treatment.
Ray Stanhope is a retired engineer in the semiconductor industry in Sugar Land, Texas. He is former treasurer and president of the Greater Houston Chapter of NHF. Stanhope has served as vice president of chapter affairs and president of NHF. He is a board member of American Liver Foundation's South Texas Chapter and a member of that chapter's Golf Tournament Committee. He has contributed to state advocacy work for NHF's Lone Star chapter the American Liver Foundation. Stanhope has knowledge and experience in the areas of fund raising, public relations and advocacy.
Rita Gonzales is president and founder of The Switchboard and The Baby Switchboard in Houston, Texas. She was a member of NHF's transition board and has served three terms as president of Lone Star Chapter of NHF. Gonzales is vice-chair of Sheltering Arms Senior Services, and has served on the board of The Women's Home and St. Anne Catholic School. She is bilingual in Spanish and has knowledge and experience in the areas of fund raising, public relations and information and education.

Over the years in his 14 years of affiliation with the Mary M. Gooley HTC, Dr. Kouides has served as principal investigator on a number of retrospective and prospective studies dealing with the gynecological and obstetrical complications of von Willebrand disease. Currently, he is studying the diagnosis and management of menorrhagia in women with VWD for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as the use of levonorgestrel intrauterine device. Dr. Kouides is co-chair of the CDC Universal Data Collection study of women with bleeding disorders and co-chair of the ISTH Women's Health Issues Scientific Subcommittee, selected to develop guidelines for the diagnosis and management of bleeding disorder-related menorrhagia. He is also on the Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee of the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF), the CSL Behring grant review committee, and the executive board of the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research Society (HTRS) of North America. Dr. Kouides is co-editor of the HTRS newsletter and the NHF HemeAware magazine.
