Juan Ochoa, chief executive officer of McCormick Place at Navy Pier, or McPier, says Sanchez stands out among reserved business leaders and is vital in represent ing Hispanic interests in the mainstream community. "He pretty much has been a pioneer in that his involvement has been in the mainstream. While he is involved to some extent in the Hispanic commu nity, he is probably much more involved in mainstream groups," Ochoa says. "He is a champion of education." In addition, Sanchez has also been involved in political fundraising. Ochoa says fundraising is a way to wield influ ence for the Hispanic community. "That means we have a seat at the table. If you are not at the table, you are on the menu," Ochoa says. "People like Manny are at the table. We expect him to make sure we are not on the menu." Sen. Menendez noted that, in addition to Sanchez' success with his law firm, he is one of the founders of the New American Alliance, an economic empowerment as sociation for Latinos in corporate America. "That is classic Manny, always on the cut ting edge," Menendez says.

Steve joined Christy Webber Landscapes in the spring of 2005 just days after getting a degree in horticulture from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Steve started off as a residential maintenance and enhancement foreman and has since moved into the office and is now a project manager, overseeing the landscape maintenance for Navy Pier and Millennium Park. Steve is a licensed pesticide applicator through the State of Illinois. He is a Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) through Illinois Landscape Contractors Association.

Jodi honed her skills in the special event industry from 1997 to 2004 managing roaming talent and comedy troupes at Navy Pier, the Midwest's most popular tourist attraction. In addition to her work at Navy Pier, Jodi has done project work for Corporate Event Interactive (CEI) since 1995 contributing her steady brand of on-site event management to CEI's interactive and team events. Jodi joined the CEI team full time in the fall of 2004 where she successfully managed staffing requirements for Ameriquest's "Win Free House Payments for a Year" mall promotion (through Passage Events) and reservation services for the Rotary Host Organization events for their 2005 Convention.
