New York Community Trust

Len's grantmaking portfolio includes the areas of health policy, biomedical research, aging, environmental health, and AIDS. Prior to joining The Trust in 1989, he spent over ten years planning community programs for chronically ill elders and people with AIDS, working to develop a capitation-financed program for highly disabled elders and the country's first day treatment program for people with AIDS. Len helped the September 11th Fund design and fund environmental health and health insurance programs for victims of the attacks.

Heidi holds a B.S. in Accounting from The State University of New York, College at New Paltz. She started her public accounting career at a New York City firm whose specialties included not-for-profit organizations. She joined The Trust as a staff accountant in 1994. Heidi is a member of the AICPA and the New York State Society of CPAs. She also serves on the board of The FDNY Fire Safety Education Fund. The Fund provides public education on fire safety and prevention as well as assistance to members of the FDNY in maintaining excellence in firefighter and emergency medical training.

Susan Berresford, president of the Ford Foundation, one of the biggest charitable organizations in America, met Kaplan while Kaplan was fund-raising in New York for the Alaska Native Heritage Center, for which she used to work part-time. Berresford said, "Stay in touch," so Kaplan invited her up on a tour, and she agreed.

Ann Moore joined the Guttmacher Institute in March 2004. Dr. Moore received her Ph.D. in sociology with a specialization in demography from the University of Texas in 2004. Her dissertation was a qualitative study on female control at sexual debut in Brazil. She received her M.A. in Latin American studies from the same institution and earned her B.A. in Latin American Studies and economics from Smith College in 1996. She has co-authored both quantitative and qualitative work on domestic and international reproductive health issues. She has worked for the Texas Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (TARAL) and has volunteered extensively with Population Connection and a number of abortion assistance funds. She has served on the board of directors for the National Network of Abortion Funds and Student Pugwash, USA. Dr. Moore is a member of the Population Association of America, the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population, the AssociaA A o Brasileiro de Estudos de PopulaA A o, the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality, the Latin American Studies Association and the Southern Demographic Association.

Lulu C. Wang, age 64, is Chief Executive Officer of Tupelo Capital Management, LLC, an investment management firm which she founded in 1997. Ms. Wang has been engaged in professional money management since 1972. Prior to founding Tupelo Capital Management, Ms. Wang served as Director and Executive Vice President of Jennison Associates Capital Corporation. In this role, she managed assets for pension, endowment and mutual funds. Before joining Jennison in 1988, Ms. Wang oversaw equities management at Equitable Capital Management as Senior Vice President and Managing Director. Ms. Wang serves on the Boards of the Asia Society, Columbia Business School, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rockefeller University, WNYC Public Radio and the Committee of 100. Ms. Wang also serves as Trustee Emerita of Wellesley College and as a Consulting Director of the New York Community Trust. Ms. Wang received a bachelor of arts degree from Wellesley College and a masters in business administration from Columbia Business School. She is a chartered financial analyst. She has been a Director of MetLife and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company since March 2008.
