Mr. Douglas Peterson has served as Chairman, Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nikko Citi Holdings since May 2008 when Nikko Cordial Corporation merged with Citigroup Japan Holdings. Before the merger, he served as the Representative Director and Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup Japan Holdings (since June 2007) and the Chairman and Director (since June 2007) and the President and Chief Executive Officer (since January 2008) of Nikko Cordial Corporation. He arrived in Japan in June 2004 and served as Chief Executive Officer of Citibank, N.A.'s Japan Branches until June 2007. He is a member of Citi's Senior Leadership Committee. Prior to these current positions, Mr. Peterson served as the Chief Auditor of Citigroup, a position he assumed in October 2000. He had joined Audit & Risk Review in 1998 as a Managing Director. Mr. Peterson joined Citibank in 1985 and worked as a Relationship Manager in Buenos Aires for two years in the Corporate Bank. He then spent four years in New York as a Relationship Manager covering domestic and international airlines and aircraft manufacturers. In 1991, Mr. Peterson moved to Costa Rica as the Country Corporate Officer, where he expanded the franchise by opening the first foreign-owned bank in Costa Rica. From 1995 to 1998, he was the Country Corporate Officer in Uruguay, where he managed the corporate bank and oversaw Citicorp's mutual funds. He also launched a private pension fund through a joint venture. He currently serves on the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan and is also a member of the Executive Committee of the International Bankers Association and the chair of Citi's Diversity Council Japan. Mr. Peterson graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 1980 with a B.A. in Mathematics and History. He received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1985, where he concentrated in International Finance.
